During God Touching the Nation, we received a prophetic word that as a church God sees us as gatherers and shepherds.
“When Jesus saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (Matthew 9:36-38).
Jesus is the Good Shepherd, and has compassion for the lost sheep, ‘I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me and I lay down my life for the sheep’.

False shepherds always make themselves the focal point, not Jesus. An example is Absolom who did not introduce people to King David, the shepherd king, but turned the hearts of the people towards himself. Jesus says that the hired hand does not act like a shepherd, does not own the sheep, cares nothing for the sheep, so when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away.
We have a wonderful task to bring in the lost as He says in verse 16, ‘I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd’. THIS is the harvest of which our Lord speaks and for whom He has come... those without a Shepherd.
God is not looking for great or famous people; He is looking for sons and daughters who will gather in the harvest. ‘Expect great things from God…attempt great things for Him’ (William Carey). Those who hear and understand God’s Word produce a harvest of thirty, sixty and even a hundred-fold.
Paul says: “My message and my preaching were not with wise words but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith may not rest on men’s wisdom but on God’s power!” ( I Cor.2:4)
GO! The harvest is plentiful!
