to know the signs and to know what and who to turn to. Time has not been my friend of late, but that event will be scheduled for early next year.

For the month of October, I do wish you joy and happiness and most importantly no abuse especially for those of you who may well be suffering through this turbulent stage of your life. Remember who you truly are. You may well feel that you are alone which is not the case. There are those who will assist you in any which way possible. Do not suffer longer just because you feel there is no way out for you. What have you done for yourself in the past month? What have you done for those who suffer under abuse or bullying?

For those of us lucky enough not to be subjected to abusive behaviours or relationships, It is time to stand together as one and make a concerted effort to be there for those who are suffering.

Harsh questions perhaps but vitally important because we tend to turn a blind eye or make excuses for those who are being abusive toward us. How can we change this mind set if not by speaking out? How can we assist those if we turn a blind eye. The answer is we can’t. We need to become involved, we need to report and keep reporting and making sure that this is eradicated from our society.

Remember you are worthy of living your life to the best of your ability and no matter what others say believe in yourself. Do not let fear override your ability to succeed.

Have a truly wonderful month.

It is often easy to think if you are in a relationship that it is a once off occurrence and yet the truth of the matter is that if it has happened once, the chances are that it will continue perhaps not immediately but it will rear its ugly head again, and again and again.

sayings ring true to you? More often than not they are said by exactly those who are supposed to love and cherish you. More often than not, also said in anger. And even more often those individuals are carrying hurts and burdens that they are clinging to for dear life because that is what fuels their life without their conscious knowledge. When confronted with these issues one comes to realise that they are sharing their hurts and wanting to perhaps not directly but indirectly pass over the burden of their own hurt/s. And oh do they succeed. It has been carried over for so many generations it must seem quite natural.

taring into the mirror.

Looking at the reflection before me I wonder if there is anything of worth. Should you be told often enough of your worthlessness, you sure enough will begin to believe exactly that. Yet deep down there is this tiny spark of a flame at the very core of one’s being that keeps mattering ‘’no that is not quite true’’. Things said by others are what eventually form the biggest and most profound pictures in your mind. You will never be able to achieve this or that, how stupid do you actually want to be. Where did you come up with that idiotic thought? When did you think you were so clever? Do some of these Life Coach With Trust

coming from and will use every trick in the book to make you revert back to the person you were before, the one who was manipulated into believing the worthlessness of self. Once you are able to see these acts clearly and are able to implement the change necessary for your wellbeing never ever think on your ‘’worthlessness’’ again. Perhaps that is incorrect, you may think and in wonder see your progress but never think you are who they made you out to be.

Dealing with the person/s who inflict these damaging thought patterns upon us is not always easy as those patterns will not just subside and the given person/s will not want to change for reasons only they will understand. So you are stuck with changing yourself and empowering who you are and at the same time making very sure they no longer have the ability to hurt you. You will understand that their hurt is actually misdirected, but because they are unable or perhaps unwilling to deflect and heal they will continue to lash out at you.

You are worthy.

sexual abuse started. My stepfather was a respected man in the community. He had a good reputation, was not a drinker or a drug addict. He was a monster disguised as reputable business man.

y name is Celeste and I am warrior woman.

I didn't always know this but I have grown to realise it over the years.

This continued - on a regular basis - for some six years.

I am 48 years old. I have learnt many lessons over the years, and count myself among those blessed enough to be able to carry on positively no matter what life throws in my way because my strength comes from looking for help from a greater power than me. Between my husband (yes, I am on my second marriage) and I, we have five beautiful children and two grandchildren - so I am wife, mother, grandmother, and wounded healer.

There are so many words to describe this kind of pain but not one of them seems enough. The shadow of the after effects of that time of my life hung over me for years. It pervaded every part of my life. Bad relationships. Heartache. Bad choices. When I was at university I would put myself in dangerous situation... Push the envelope until I finally decided to go see a psychologist.

One thing that is clear to me is that healing is a journey – and a long one. Those of us who have made it to the other side of our abuse are survivors, true, wounded by our past; however, we can overcome all odds and live exceptional lives.

Four years later I thought I was healed. I really did. I strode out into the world a conqueror. And married the exact replica of my stepfather only add drugs and alcohol.

Thirteen years later I came out of my survivI am different - as well as differently-abled (I ing fog one night in a caravan park. And I was born with hip dysplasia, have underkicked him out. A Strange Day

Shadows circled me today walking through the rain the grey clouds indifferent and their imprints on my heart tried to take my light away as my footprints in the water were quickly washed away Shadows circled me today stalking me like pain and the words they chose to say in their bleak refrain were just like my footsteps in the water slowly washed away yet their imprints on my heart may have a little time to stay ~Gary Watkins~

https://youtu.be/bRGLfXoEZoQ It is the first resources website on human trafficking specific to South Africa launched in January 2015. We upload links to current and older press releases, video clips, recommended books to read and movies to watch. We also upload academic research and reports with a focus on South Africa. There are also some learning links. We have included a tab for the Unthinkable short film which was made in 2016. This 34 minute short film by Media Navigation and the National Freedom Network aims to educate the public on ‘Lover Boy Recruitment', a tactic by human traffickers to lure and trap victims. Many victims are then sold into the sex trade. The short film is based on Chapter 32 of Kris Hollington’s book “Unthinkable”. It has been adapted for the South African context. Joan was born in Sunland, Eastern Cape Province in 1948. I was the 3rdyoungest of 8 children; 4 boys and 4 girls. After school I studied missionary work at Hugenote Kollege Wellington, Western Cape Province, but later changed my career path to social work. I started my career in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal Province at the Dutch Reformed Church. After I met my husband-to-be we decided to reside in the same city instead of in different provinces to further avoid a long-distance relationship.

I am passionate about family and communities and love to make a difference in people’s lives. My vision is to empower people – including children – and inform them about their uniqueness, potential to grow, and to empower them to make informed decisions when facing challenges.

Joan Groenewald

The book covers diverse slavery topics and deals with the knowledge about 21st century slavery. This human trafficking occurs in normal, ordinary families like yours and mine. There are perceptions and assumptions that most people who are traded are poor and unemployed, but there are also stories of well-qualified people – like the social worker – who was almost caught in the trap of human trafficking. There is no difference in colour, gender or age. So, by reading this book you are vicariously familiarised Life Coach With Trust

On 4 May 2010 I obtained my Doctoral Degree in Philosophy on the subject of Social Work at the University of South Africa. Being a registered social worker with many years of experience in the service field, I am an expert in victim empowerment. I worked for 19 years at different churches and 25 years 15

for the State. My latest contribution as a state official was with the National Department of Social Development, Pretoria, on the preparation and implementation of ‘Act No. 7 of 2013: The Prevention and Combating of Trafficking in Persons Act, 2013’.

view is that this book should be available in most households in South Africa. ‘You may choose to look the other way but you can never say that you did not know’– WILLIAM WILBERFORCE My gratitude goes to Groep7. Ilette Strydom is a remarkable woman, as are her team members. She also demonstrated patience with me as a self-published writer.

Why and how did you start with your writing career? After retiring from government in 2013, I was faced with the challenge: What now? What can I do which will give meaning to my day-to-day life. During that period, two months after retirement I was in a hit -and-run accident and was forced to slow down and depression set in. With a very dark cloud over my head and lead in my heart, I walked to a cell group one night. I was actually dragging my feet because they felt too heavy. I told the group that night that I needed a purpose in life; to give meaning to my day-to-day life again. It was then that I decided to put pen to paper and record the knowledge I gained during my career.

Do you have any other books in the pipeline? Yes, my latest book will also be available in most South African languages by the end of 2017. I still need to get the message about slavery across in ‘talking books’. This will become available as and when donor funding is received.

Another challenge will be to write my autobiography. Where and how do you do your research? The last research conducted was desktop research.

When was your first book published, and how many books have you published so far?

Furthermore, I need to conduct research on the implementation plans of government and also on the inputs, outputs and challenges facing them, as well as the best practices on trafficking in persons. With God’s grace, I still need to work on the approach early next year.

From this work experience, I verified my specific knowledge garnered during eight years by writing the book ‘Human Trafficking – the Hidden Crime’, published in 2015. This book is an educational book and specifically for professionals in practice. The book was highly recommended in Gauteng Province during training sessions. The need was born in my heart to make a difference in the lives of South Africans by sharing my knowledge to empower individuals, families and community members. The book: ‘The World around Us – 21st Century Slavery’ is finalised and will be launched during September and October 2017. The Life Coach With Trust
