I first met Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen more than 10 years ago at the BBC Good Homes show in London and there is no doubt that he is a showman, which is essential for TV, but his passion and authenticity around colour and design was also impressive and infectious. More recently we got together and talked about the idea of creating a new wallpaper range and the journey with him was fun, exciting and resulted in a beautiful creation of wallpapers which he is proud of, and I am delighted with.

Wallpaper: Damask Dangereuse £89 per roll

Laurence is a huge fan of William Morris and as an artist himself all his work starts with a drawing. Spending long periods of time on location filming design shows, whether in Asia or Australia, allows him to view the world around him and put pencil to paper, as designers have done for hundreds of years. I was fascinated by Laurence’s ability to visualise scale and repeat which is so critical in wallpaper design. He instinctively sees how his drawings will repeat and work on a wall; he knows his craft. One of his tips about using wallpaper is to “glamoflage” the corners of a room – take the wallpaper around the corners to make the space feel larger.

The names he has given his wallpapers will bring a smile to your face.

There is nothing beige about Laurence, and when he introduced his collection to our team, he left us all with an energy and inspiration to use colour and design in our own homes and banish the boring!

As Laurence prepares for the new season of “Changing Rooms” he has taken the opportunity to decorate the dining room and kitchen in his 400 year old Cotswold home. The fresh paisley green wallpaper Damask Dangereuse – is “a return to having more fun” – something we are all craving for after 2020.

And the teaming of the fresh light green colourway of Club Tropicana with the deep, rich teal of his kitchen cabinets, is simply inspired!

Laurence is an interiors ambassador, and loves to talk about colour, something people tend to get a bit worried about – he believes there are a lot of “colourphobics” and he wants to inspire more people to be creative when decorating.

Homes are about personality and decorating fosters so many emotions – whether it is with The Boys Are Back In Town or Pleasure Island we know you will enjoy the experience with Mr. LLB.
