Celebrate Sneak Peak! Our 2nd Celebrate conference day was held in May bringing together small business owners with an event or cake related business from all around Australia and even New Zealand! Attendees enjoyed a whole day of hearing from 4 fabulous speakers, a swag bag full of delights, meeting like-minded business owners, beautiful views of Sydney Harbour and were also able to take home a print from our “inspiration quote bar” ! One of the themes of the day which all speakers highlighted was the importance of humanizing your brand and showing customers the “real” side behind your business and ways you can do this authentically. What were some of the unique features of this setup? Story Book backdrop with a torn page, as if the characters had escaped from the book into their own woodland forest. A party table, made up to look like ‘Grandma’s bed‘ from the Red Riding Hood story and all the delicious desserts!

Share your top tips for those planning children’s parties and celebrations Don’t be afraid to use party ware and decorations in ways other than what they were intended. Here we made the Toadstool and Daisy plates look as if they were ‘growing’ from the ground. We placed paper fans and small honeycomb balls on the ground and only half opened them to imitate magical plant-life and stones, rather than hanging them.

THE IMPORTANCE OF

The media and some major blogs “love” to give a hard time to mums who happen to style what they call an “OTT” kids celebration! There is an uproar with many parents joining in about what a waste of money it all is and how the kids don’t care.

So what is the “other” side of the coin? From being a mum myself and being involved in this industry I can tell you that I don’t see mums throwing amazing parties trying to “show off”. I know that readers of this magazine genuinely enjoy planning their children’s celebrations! It’s an area where they can use their creativity and enjoy the process… just like others may enjoy doing sewing, coaching their kids sports team or styling a beautiful nursery! They aren’t doing it to show off or spoil their kids. They aren’t throwing their children massive celebrations “every” day or lavishing them with gifts “every” week. However they do love seeing the joy and delight on their kids faces on the day of their party.

I’m a firm believer that “any” celebration is totally fine, as long as you DO celebrate! Whether its a low key picnic in your backyard… a movie party with 3 friends….a pizza dinner with just the family…a styled 1st birthday… a simple BBQ with no theme…..or a 100% themed princess party with props and entertainers….! The kids love it “all” and if the parents are truly celebrating them – they will love it even more! So if you do feel pressured to style a huge kids party even though you don’t enjoy it and it causes you stress... please don’t! All celebrations, big/small/simple/detailed are loved by children. However if you DO love to use your creativity with parties – don’t ever feel guilty or embarrassed! It doesn’t matter if people just don’t get it. You know your true intentions. Our kids grow SO fast! So while we can still celebrate and plan parties for them, let’s do it!

What was your inspiration behind the styling for this party shoot? Our children grow up so fast, this party was a chance for me to really embrace the sparkle that Angelina brings to our lives while she is young enough to still be enchanted with make believe, magic and the suspense of party games. The rose gold colour palate was the key inspiration behind this party. We wanted to add an element of a princess party without going too over the top so the gem theme in the form of sparkles, shapes and touches of metallic were brought in through decorations, cookies and a tattoo station.

What were some of the unique features of this setup? At the heart of any party is a beautiful table, creating a space for everyone to gather around, share and celebrate the special occasion. The balloon garland was designed to frame a magnificent table, filled with treats, that set the tone and backdrop for the entire party. The teepee, games and tattoo station were all items selected to entertain the kids and add that special touch to the day.

Share your top tips for those planning children’s parties and celebrations My top tips would be: 1. W rite a list – Planning and keeping track of all the items you need to bring your party to life is easiest when written down. This helps to delegate and check things off rather than ending up frantic on the day. 2. E nlist help – there is much to do to pull together a celebration, and with all the final touches and setup to be done on the day you will enjoy yourself more if you’ve enlisted the help of friends, family and professionals. Both leading up to and on the day. 3. P lay is important – kids love to explore and play, not just sit and eat. Make sure you’ve picked a few things to keep their interest and the day flowing like a craft or tattoo station, some games and even dancing! 4. O ne Stop Shop – purchase as much as you can from the one store and online. This not only saves you time but a good party store will ensure everything is colour matched for you which makes all the difference to the overall party style.

What was your inspiration behind the styling for this party shoot? I wanted to create a super fun, colourful and festive llama inspired party for Marco’s 5th birthday. Having recently started prep, Marco wanted to invite his class and this theme was the perfect festive theme for both boys and girls.

What were some of the unique features of this setup? I used lots of jumbo and foil balloons to transform the venue into a super fun and festive area. More balloons were used on the “Pin the ears” game board which was a really fun feature. The kids table was really bright and fun with the addition of colourful placemats and partyware.

Share your top tips for those planning children’s parties and celebrations Children’s parties should always be planned with the children in mind. When choosing a venue, time, food, décor and activities, always consider the kids ages, interests, etc and also organize some games and activities for them. As the party host, you don’t want to spend the whole party worrying that kids will get bored, injured or damage something, etc. Choose a theme! Get your little one involved in choosing a theme – it will help create a fun and cohesive event from invitations through to the cake. Set the party in the afternoon. I get asked what the best time to have a party is and my preference has always been afternoons for a number of reasons. Have someone help you do the styling, cooking and other preparations. You cannot do everything alone. You want to remember and enjoy the celebration so delegating to family and friends or paying someone else to do it will allow you to do that.

How does your business help busy mums who are party planning? Sweet Sienna Event Styling will help mums bring their vision to life for their special event. From the first initial step of the design process to the set up and pack down of the dessert display on the actual day. I will plan and organise all the props, decorations, cake and desserts with all the top vendors, to ensure your event not only looks amazing but runs smoothly. So, you can focus on what’s important on the day - your family and friends.

What inspired you to start your business? Growing up I have always had a passion and love for everything about celebrations. So, when I had kids I was motivated by them to continue my love for celebrating. What could be more of a celebration than your own children? My business was named after my first born,

my beautiful girl, Sienna. My children inspire me to follow my dreams and allow my creative nature and passion to pour out into my work.

What are your favourite party planning tips for kids parties? Ensure you give yourself plenty of time to plan in advance. Having little ones to take care of is enough stress as it is, you don’t want to be stressed and running around at the last minute. It’s also perfectly okay to admit you can’t do it all yourself and have an Event Stylist organize the dessert display for you, while you take care of the other details. You’ll not only enjoy yourself more at your event, but you’ll have peace of mind that the display will look amazing and really impress your guests. There will be lots of lovely memories to be had for your little ones to look back on.

What was your inspiration behind the styling for this party shoot? Princess parties are so often styled in the usual suspects, pink, blush, rose, and as beautiful as these colours are, I feel it’s time to show these elements can be equally magical in another colour. This was the inspiration to design the Mooi Co, Princess Petite Party Kit, which I have used throughout the styling of this shoot. The stationery, garland, lolly bags, crowns and toppers are all part of the kit and the posters, choc wrappers, food tags and name tags are all included printables. I often find my busy mom friends loving the Pinterestworthy party, but being extremely time-poor. Giving a busy mom this party kit as a base and showing them to “JUST ADD” Cake, Desserts, Tableware, Props…. and Voila! You’ve got this!

What were some of the unique features of this setup? As with any Royal event, the invites, place cards and food tags are beautifully hand calligraphed! Not only that, this party is layered with beautiful party-ware and decor, accented with stunning props and topped off with a gorgeous cake and the most perfect desserts. I believe layers and textures are what makes anything luxurious and special. Tulle pompoms, balloon garlands, honeycomb garlands and honeycomb balls and mixing ornate vintage and clean-lined modern props, makes it a party truly fit for a 2018 princess. And as texture lends to luxury, detail lends to the memorable. With this in mind, the favours came in layers of detail! Monogrammed lollipops, custom cookie mixes, a treat bag, beautifully wrapped chocolates and a printed poster with a positive message - Born to shine! But, what is truly unique about this set up is that it is styled out of a party-kit. It shows that simple and stunning are not mutually exclusive.

Adding stations to parties is like going to a carnival and hopping on the next ride. •U nless you have a lot of time, always use a plain wall/backdrop to showcase a simple set up. • Don’t be afraid to deconstruct the dessert table.

When it comes to entertaining the teeny tinies whilst keeping the space looking high end and beautiful, we take the stress away! Our beautiful products not only fit into any and every space but are a huge hit with the kids keeping them entertained for hours. What’s more is that we are super cost effective, making your dollars make sense.

What inspired you to start your business? An opportunity to create a purposeful, easy, stress free service for parents and teeny tinies alike, by ensuring that the kids be given a designated safe space that’s beautiful, to engage, learn, and develop, all while having fun at special events.

Further to this, starting a business allowed us an opportunity to give back to the community via the wonderful organisation SANDS (miscarriage, stillbirth and neo natal death services), whereby a percentage of each and every hire package gets donated.

What was your inspiration behind the styling for this party shoot? The inspiration behind this party was definitely the monochrome colour scheme. The party was catering to the 7-10yr age group so we infused the styling with an industrial edge and softened with pops of bronze & gold. The kids loved the bold approach to this classic party theme & of course they all had a Rawsome Time!

What were some of the unique features of this setup? The graphic design was a large element of the party and one of my favourite features. Both the backdrop and table covers were custom designed by Giggles & Grace Designs and the white graffiti style wording on a black background with feature bronze dinosaurs was a real standout along with the coordinating stationery elements. The party guests loved the stools which had been dressed with their own dinosaur tail made perfectly by Schooza. The Belle Tent by The Slumber Boutique was a huge success and the boys loved their sleepover adventure and enjoyed the delicious donuts, cookies, cupcakes and cake . The giant Brontosaurus Balloon appeared to be keeping guard over the party . The boys were treated to amazing take home gifts as well! Delicious Rubble Crush Cookie Mixes, Roaring Lolly Boxes, Raptor Lolly Pops and their own personalized water bottles!

Share your top tips for those planning children’s parties and celebrations 1. C hoose unique colours for your theme and have some fun with your party design. 2. I f planning an outdoor event don’t forgot to have a Plan B in case of weather issues such as rain or strong wind. 3. B ook early to avoid disappointment. Reputable vendors book quickly so make sure you allow plenty of time to secure your party items. 4. U se reputable vendors from reliable sources. Make sure the businesses you are dealing with are legitimate with affiliations to other businesses such as Life’s Little Celebrations. If a business has good associations you know you are putting your next event in great hands. 50

What was the inspiration for this celebration?: To celebrate Aidenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s fourth birthday party we hosted a party inspired by his love of penguins. Aiden was a key decision maker in the planning, choosing a colour palette of blue and his favourite animal as the star attraction.

What were some of the unique elements of this party?: The dessert table was setup with an array of beautiful desserts amongst swathes of ice inspired fabric. A backdrop of hand-painted rice paper sheets represented the dramatic ice fields and glaciers of Antarctica.

The central iceberg cake was topped with a handpainted watercolour cake topper featuring a baby penguin to represent the birthday boy. Watercolour penguins paraded amongst the plates of sweets via the food labels. The watercolour artwork of ELK Prints was used throughout all the elements of the party and the style of the party was set out for guests from the moment the invitations were sent. The party invitation featured a bespoke original artwork of adult and children penguins and the aesthetics set in the invites was then carried throughout the party itself creating a nice cohesive vision.

What did the kids enjoy at the party? This year party games took centre stage at the party now that Aiden is older. Party Ideas in a Box provided an inspirational and useful set of guidelines on how to run a number of party games inspired by the penguin theme. Guests loved the concept of Musical Icebergs to the soundtrack of Happy Feet and fishing for paper fish in the hammock with spoons. The most popular of the games played was the penguin scavenger hunt with watercolour penguins by ELK Prints scattered around the garden with stamps and sticker books.
