WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLING FOR THIS PARTY SHOOT? AUSTRALIAN SUMMERS. We created a beach vacay vibe with a little bit of a retro spin based on days spent at the beach and local swimming baths as kids. Lots of Icecream cones, iced lollies, cold drinks, bright colours, fun fashion and summery accessories were the order of the day.

A beach kiosk was used to display all the amazing desserts and cakes and we included bright summery shades of yellow, coral, peach and pink. What’s a summer holiday without Ice cream? Frosty fruits, Drumsticks, and plenty of Aussie candy was also available at the ‘kiosk’ . We gave the party a super fun twist by including on-trend and quintessentially quirky Aussie Cockatoos with the awesome pool float and adorable cake toppers. Don’t they just make you smile?
WHAT WERE SOME OF THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SETUP? The amazing cake by My Petite Sweets with the ever so cute Cockatoo Cake toppers! We made ombre backdrops and used paper plates from Ruby Rabbit as clouds and waves. The giant cockatoo pool float and Ice cream necklaces from Kiki Sprinkles captured the fun vibe we were going for.

It would seem obvious to include the blue of water or the ocean in this sort of beachy setup but you don’t have to include the obvious to create a ‘look’. By sticking with a few well chosen shades and props you can keep everything cohesive, modern and fresh.

Every year, I find myself wanting to add a little something ‘extra’ to my Christmas gifts. I love making homemade gifts, and somehow I always end up choosing super easy chocolate ones. Moulds aren’t just for chocolate - did you know you can use them for jelly, fondant, plaster, sugar cubes and hard candy moulds for toffee and isomalt? Chocolate pops are the perfect party favour - add a lollipop stick, place in a cellophane bag and tie with ribbon. With so many designs available you can match any theme for a special occasion ranging from construction or hobbies to current favourites unicorns, mermaids and llamas. Another favourite is personalized designer chocolate bars, and the methods to personalize these are limitless. Create a unique chocolate flavour with oil based chocolate flavourings that include blueberry, cotton candy or even sparkling wine! Alternatively add dried fruit and nuts or store bought lollies for your own exclusive creation. Oreo moulds have never waned in popularity and while being very simple to make the end results are eye catching.
White chocolate can be coloured with oil based chocolate colourings and is also ideal for decorating with Sugar Stamp transfers. There are a variety of patterns that work on chocolate and meringues, elevating your creations to professional looking treats. Not a fan of white chocolate? You can always layer your chocolates or add minimal colour and fill the rest of the mould with milk or dark chocolate. If you’re looking to add a delicious centre choose a deep mould that allows for a generous filling and a layer of chocolate to seal the cavity. Make the simplest of caramels by simmering a tin of condensed milk for a couple of hours.For that extra special touch of glamour add gold lustre dust as either powder or paint - perfect for Christmas chocolates. Individual chocolate shapes are ideal as themed cupcake toppers. Homemade chocolates make the perfect addition to your Christmas gifting this year!

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLING FOR THIS PARTY SHOOT? When I was approached to style a Pizza Party for girls, I was certain I didn’t want to style it in a traditional manner. I love all things Italian especially Pizza so I knew this was where my inspiration was. I definitely wanted to give the party a chic European feel. When I think of Italy, I reminisce eating Pizza in the gorgeous little street side cafes, flagstone roads with Vespas parked nearby and the Alley cats sleeping on window sills.
WHAT WERE SOME OF THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SETUP? I just adore Vespas and I think they capture all things European so I knew they would feature heavily in the party design. Jen from Pink Pom Pom Kids worked with me to create Ciao Bella. We had to custom create the cart designs including the roof and the awnings along with my favorite pieces the Sign Post, the Vespa & of course the gorgeous little Alley Cats. Mardi from Party Ideas in a Box created a unique game where the girls made their own pizza out of Playdough and craft materials and then proceeded to toss the pizza bases onto boards for their very own authenic Italian pizzas in playdough!
SHARE YOUR TOP TIPS FOR THOSE PLANNING CHILDREN’S PARTIES AND CELEBRATIONS Budget Whether you want to create a simple party with a few friends at home or a huge lavish celebration make sure that you appropriately budget for it. You don’t want to leave yourself short at the end of the day, even a simple party can add up quickly! A qualified event stylist will ensure that you are aware of all costs upfront so there are no last minute surprises. Balloons Balloons are so important for any event, they are a way of adding colour, drama and impact when added correctly to the right styling. A good stylist will always have the right balloon styling in mind. Photography Photography is such an important aspect of any event, without a photographer the memories are left to fade away as time passes. At any event the hosts are always too busy with their guests to capture photos. So if you’ve planned an amazing event, make sure you also incorporate photography into the total budget.

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLING FOR THIS PARTY SHOOT? I wanted to create a fun whimsical Christmas setting that adults and children could enjoy together. The Meri Meri Nutcracker party items inspired the design, the wrapping collection of wrap, ribbons, giftbags and tags was created to compliment this theme and the partyware and decorations chosen to add sparkle and shine.
WHAT WERE SOME OF THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SETUP? •A non traditional Christmas cake and macaron towers (a link to the Christmas tree shape) . They were fun and whimsical and tasted great (not all kids like fruit cakes, etc so this is nice for them). The addition of Christmas toppers to the non traditional Christmas cake and macaron tower connected it to the Christmas theme. •A Christmas table suitable where the design suited adults and children if you want to all sit together. A note on separate kids tables for Christmas: kids seem to love this if they have company, so in my opinion it works if you have at least 3-4 children. Include Christmas activities to keep the kids busy. We put these in the gift bags hanging from the kids chairs.
SHARE YOUR TOP TIPS FOR THOSE PLANNING CHILDREN’S PARTIES AND CELEBRATIONS •W ith Christmas entertaining it is all about being organized ahead of time. The “room” decorating can be done early December, the sideboard (without fresh food) can be decorated and set up days before and then fresh food added on the day. If you order professional cakes, cookies etc, pick these up as early as the supplier recommends and store, then just bring them out on the day). •U se your beautifully wrapped gifts as “decorations”. Coordinate your wrapping “story” to your Christmas table setting and overall house decorating and then you can display gifts in other areas of the house other than just under the tree • I nclude a “themed” treat at each place setting for an extra surprise as guests come to the table. We used the lovely Meri Meri Christmas crackers and themed cookies on our table •A lovely detail is decorating the dining chair.s If you have mismatched chairs this can help unite them all. We used our Christmas Ribbons and a small spray of flowers on our chairs. • F loral Centerpiece. You can pre-order from your florist and then just place on the table the day before. If you are doing it yourself (as we did) then consider using good quality fax flowers and then just add a few fresh blooms on the day. 30

I find my busy mum friends are loving the Instagrammable party, but extremely time-poor. WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START YOUR BUSINESS? Celebrating and creating have both been a passion and that being so, I have loved any chance I get to entertain. Motherhood afforded me the wonderful opportunity to make pretty little things for my girls and celebrate special moments with them leading me to event styling.
My background in graphics and experience in event styling is what inspired me to start this business. I often find that even though a stylist may not be for everyone, style certainly is. We all have a signature style and I want to show how you can make a big impact with the right elements. And the idea is simple. - you can do it.

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLING FOR THIS PARTY SHOOT? I wanted something different. I wanted to think outside the box for this shoot as well as keep it fun and modern.
WHAT WERE SOME OF THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SETUP? Some of the unique pieces in this shoot were the Teepee doghouse, the dog bowls used to serve food and the custom made paw print covers for the mini stools. This was such a fun concept to work with and when you are collaborating with such talented vendors, it makes the job so much easier because they understand your creative vision.
SHARE YOUR TOP TIPS FOR THOSE PLANNING CHILDREN’S PARTIES AND CELEBRATIONS One thing that is important when dealing with your vendors is communication. You need to be clear with what you’re after or if you need assistance with creativity. Also depending on your expectations it’s really important to allow sufficient timing. If you know what you want then it’s never too early to book certain elements of your setup. And lastly, Remember why you’re celebrating in the first place and have fun! These events will be memories that your loved ones can look back on and treasure forever.

The venue for the shoot was white and bright and being a Koala theme we wanted to keep the colour pallet very neutral with bright whites and greens. The paper plates and cutlery were a perfect match for this set up with its hand written font which was also incorporated into the invite design.
WHAT WERE SOME OF THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SETUP? We wanted to keep the theme young and very gender neutral so that this type of set up can be adapted to either a little boy or girls party. The play tent with its comfortable accessories was the perfect nook for the kids to hide and read a book. The floral gum leaf arrangements and the hanging arrangements were also another unique feature as you can’t have a Koala themed party without them! Once again we kept these arrangements minimal but they definitely made an impact.

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLING FOR THIS PARTY SHOOT? Inspired by the upcoming Spring weather, I wanted to incorporate the celebration of a surprise pending new arrival with the elements of edgy, modern, fun & florals.
WHAT WERE SOME OF THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SETUP? Floral & Brights were the highlights for this photoshoot and I wanted a few key features for a point of difference. These included the production of a Suspending Floral chandelier as well as having a Mum-osa Bar and Ice Cream Bike with especially made neon sign Ice Ice Baby. All incorporated the Floral/Bright theme within the flowers, balloon install ,food & partyware and all highlighted together the celebration of Mum to Be, Beths’ pending arrival.

I do as much set up prior to the event as I always find time will run away from you on the day. Lavish looking parties don’t necessarily need to cost a fortune . Be creative! However I do always recommend to hosts that its better to sometimes have smaller numbers and produce quality for your guests than have so many and find you have to disburse money around a lot more and compromise. Pick a few important elements to concentrate on if you are short on time also.

At Free Range Living, all that Mums are required to do is to arrive and bring the birthday cake! At our unique CreativiTea Parties, kids are treated to a fancy tea party, including healthy and nutritious options of fruit and vegetable sticks, fresh popcorn, sandwich triangles and mini choc chip cookies. After enjoying their refreshments, children are guided through a fun creative project, with options varying from embellishment crafts and beading, to Free Range Living’s signature sewing projects. The kids love the experience of creativity and that they have a finished project to take home and cherish.
WHAT UNIQUE SERVICE OR OFFERING DOES YOUR BUSINESS PROVIDE? Over the past 7 years, Free Range Living has grown and we are now offering after school machine sewing classes, school holiday workshops and our CreativiTea Parties. Whilst our core target group has generally
been kids age 7-11 years, this year we have launched programs specifically for our students who have progressed with us over their primary years and our now in high school, and have also opened up new craft programs for pre-schoolers age 4-6 years. We are also super excited to be launching our new mobile service, whereby we bring the creativity fun to parties to you.

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLING FOR THIS PARTY SHOOT? The inspiration for styling a slime party for Lucas was very easy to come up with. Slime is such a treat for children of all ages at the moment, because really who doesn’t like gooey stuff and a slime lab is no exception! Therefore creating a Slime Laboratory for Lucas was the perfect party idea for both boys and girls alike. It’s a great party idea for parties as all kids love the magic of science, and creating their very own weird and wonderful slime. WHAT WERE SOME OF THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SETUP? This definitely had to be the inclusion of the dry ice. The magic of the science laboratory comes alive with the smoky dry ice, a huge hit with the kids. And of course creating their own slime – a messy but oh so fun creation!
