hat’s what you think sommeliers might say. They do, but that’s not all. When I met the impressive group of experts for this month's cover shoot, it was non-stop laughs. These aficionados are affable, approachable and absolutely affectionate. Eric S. Crane helped me corral the group. He is the Director of Training and Business Development for Empire Distributors, Inc. and has achieved the title of Certified Wine Educator from the Society of Wine Educators and the title of Advanced Sommelier from the Court of Master Sommeliers. Eric also serves on the Board of Directors for the Guild of Sommelier’s Education Foundation. As Empire’s Director of Training, he regularly teaches classes on wine and spirits to his company as well as to the public. Actually, he’ll talk about this stuff to pretty much anyone who will listen. And, I’d listen to that guy all day. We shot at the gorgeous Atlas Restaurant at the St. Regis, where Caleb Hopkins holds court. He is studying for his advanced sommelier exam, the third of four rather treacherous and arduous levels toward the Master Sommelier Diploma, an honor only two in Georgia have reached, 147 in the Americas chapter since the organization’s inception. We're lucky to have so much knowledge here in Buckhead and Brookhaven. Search out one of these experts on your next night out and tell them we sent you in for a knock-knock joke. Northside Hospital-Forsyth has undergone near-continuous expansion since being acquired in 2002. This year the hospital has added three additional floors to better serve the burgeoning North Fulton / Forsyth region. The new construction brings the hospital’s inpatient bed count to 247 (currently 231) and the total number of beds, including observation, to 325. Northside’s newest medical campus is being developed in East Cobb. The 100,000-square-foot Northside East Cobb Medical Center, located at Johnson Ferry Road and Olde Towne Parkway in Marietta, is expected to open in December 2016. This medical center will feature Northside physicians providing services that include imaging, primary care, urgent care and other specialties. Other major health projects are underway that will add even more health care quality, access and diversification – look for Northside to grow in Woodstock, Sandy Springs and Midtown Atlanta. Andrea Overstreet and Jason Bronson have been cooking Sunday dinner together for more than 10 years, skipping right to dessert for the last few years, experimenting with ice cream and everything Southern. rban Tree Cidery has planted itself in West Midtown and branches out over 4,500 square feet of unique space that includes Atlanta’s first cider manufacturing facility, a tasting room called “the Cidery,” and an event space. A family owned and operated business, Urban Tree Cidery opened its doors in March of this year. It was founded by Tim and Maria Resuta. “Urban Tree Cidery is a passion project that branches into our family tree,” says Tim, co-founder and head cider maker as well as orchard manager. “My wife, her sister, Jackie, and our three children are all involved in the growth of our business.” Residents of the Chastain Park neighborhood, the Resuta family has been rooted and growing in Atlanta since 2003. Tim’s dental practice is a family general and cosmetic dentistry practice on Howell Mill Road in Buckhead. Tim and Maria have two daughters and a son. Ali is a 2015 graduate of The Westminster Schools and currently attends the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at ASU. Sixteen-year old

rookhaven residents John and Leslie Tarbutton say that one tour and training session at the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy (GCCA) was all it took to open their eyes to the realities of child abuse and the important work the GCCA does to prevent it. A leader at Slalom Consulting, located in the heart of Buckhead, Johns says, “Leslie and I have three small children, and becoming more involved with the GCCA has taught us that it’s often the situations that we least expect and feel most comfortable with that may introduce opportunities for abuse. The good news is, those opportunities can also be easily avoided with basic preventative steps.” The mission of the GCCA is to champion the needs of sexually and physically abused children through prevention, intervention, therapy and collaboration. With centers and staff in both Fulton and DeKalb counties, the Center has served more than 15,000 children in those counties since 1987 who have been sexually or physically abused or have witnessed violence. These services are provided at no cost to the families. The GCCA also leads the nation in its comprehensive prevention training and programs. In 2006, the GCCA partnered with nonprofit Darkness to Light to introduce their Stewards of Children sexual abuse prevention training to communities in Georgia. Stewards of Children is the only adult-focused, evidence-informed curriculum proven to increase knowledge, change attitudes about child sexual abuse and change behaviors that promote protective measures. “The GCCA is leading a statewide, coordinated effort to bring the Stewards of Children program to every county and city,” says John. “Real progress is being made to make child sexual abuse prevention part of our culture and not a taboo subject. I encourage anyone who has children or works with children to experience this program.”

Prevention training and tours of the Center are ongoing throughout the year. Fall dates are coming up October 26 at the DeKalb Center (1950 West Exchange Place in Tucker) and November 16 at the Fulton location (1485 Woodland Ave. SE in Atlanta). John adds, “I have volunteered for various events and organizations in the past that I have found really rewarding, but after getting a chance to take a tour of the GCCA facility, I felt compelled to become more involved. They walk you through a mock abuse scenario and some typical realities about how a victim and their family may arrive at the Center and then how they are supported through intervention, therapy and prevention. It’s powerful stuff.” John is also a committee chair for the 2016 Cheer for Children Ball. The largest fundraising gala for the GCCA, this gala brings together the Atlanta community to raise money and awareness and help make a direct impact on the lives of children affected by abuse in our city. The American Culinary Federation, Greater Atlanta Chapter provides a delectable array of top chef sensations and top shelf creations. Attendees also enjoy live music by The Papa-Sol Band and exciting silent and live auctions with bidding opportunities on destination packages, resort weekends and local getaways. This year's black tie-optional event--themed "Gatsby: Stepping Back in Time to Make a Better Future for Children"--will be held on Friday, October 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the Foundry at Puritan Mill (916 Joseph E.
