STARTING LIFE ANEW AT YESTERDAY’S GONE
“God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say ‘thank you?’”
-William A. Ward
It’s often in the stillness and simplicity of life that we become most aware of what truly matters and find gratitude in the little things we might otherwise overlook.
Our Thankful Issue is dedicated to stories about those who share their lives helping others, brightening their days and giving hope where sometimes there is little, and to those who are truly grateful that they are being remembered.
I am so thankful for the residents and businesses that give so much in support of these organizations so that they, in turn, can support our community. And I’m thankful that this alluring circle continues to flow endlessly.
Welcome to our family, Leander! We are so grateful to be gracing your doors, while still adorning our treasured OG’s in Cedar Park who have loved and supported us by reading our magazine and visiting our highly recommended businesses for the past two years! A special thanks to our advertising business partners who help bring this magazine to Cedar Park and now to Leander’s doorsteps each month. They are a trusted part of our City Lifestyle family and vision, many who invested as a Founding Partner and others who have joined us along our journey, to bring purpose and inspirational stories of the good news in the community directly to you.
As we prepare to gather with our loved ones this holiday season, let’s set aside just a few seconds to consider what makes life meaningful, and choose to be thankful for the many blessings we all experience daily.

DISCOVER A PLACE FOR WOMEN IN NEED TO LIVE AND HEAL WITH YESTERDAY’S GONE
After leaving her past of hardships behind, Loree Tamayo was talking with her parents when it struck her how much more challenging life would be if she had children to support and no job.
“That seed got planted in my heart, and once I recovered, I had this dream to do something about it,” says Tamayo.
This evolved into Yesterday’s Gone, a nonprofit that assists women who have endured trauma. It goes far beyond transitional housing, equipping guests with the resources to rewire their brains and open their eyes to a world of possibilities.
“It’s priceless. You can’t pay money for this feeling,” says Tamayo.
Yesterday’s Gone works hand-in-hand with several local organizations, such as Bluebonnet Trails, Hill Country Community Ministries, Operation Liberty Hill, and Hope Alliance. Tamayo and her team encourage you, too, to join forces in guiding women toward self-sustainability! Head to yesterdaysgone. org to see how you can give the gift of sponsoring a GEM, or volunteer for maintenance services, transportation, and family fun nights. 01
“I’m thankful that God took what was intended for harm and used it for good, for the saving of many lives. If God said, ‘Would you like a do-over?’ I’d say, ‘Nope, I wouldn’t change a thing.’ Even though it was hard, He knew I was going to come out the other side and be a little redhead force to be reckoned with.”
Efforts by Yesterday’s Gone aim to get women out of survival mode and back to having dreams. Some ways they achieve this include enrichment programs to provide a state of normal for the children, dignity dollars to understand money management, and an emphasis on education to prepare for a career. Self-defense and exercise programs are also offered to gain respect for their bodies.
02 03 04
“50% of the program is housing, and the other 50% is the counseling, case management, and life coach services. The women get to live on the property for up to a year, working with the coach to become strong and independent. You see the transformation, the peace, the happiness, the recovery—and that makes it all worth it. We’re breaking generations of dysfunctional living.”
Keep your home safe and running efficiently over the holidays and beyond with family business Renevado
When your dryer vents are clogged, there’s a greater chance of a house fire. When your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors go unchecked, that fire becomes even more dangerous. And when your hot water heater bursts, your garage doors are poorly maintained, or your AC filters don’t get changed timely, you just keep increasing the risks to your family.
Ted Dimbero was inspired to start Renevado out of his own struggles with home maintenance. He understood that preventative tasks were essential, but they never seemed to rise to the top of his to-do list. This often led to a reactive approach to issues instead of a proactive one.
Recognizing that many homeowners faced similar challenges, Dimbero set out to create a one-stop solution to ease the burden of home maintenance. Customers save time and money as they eliminate the hassle of hiring individual contractors from multiple companies. It also prevents those inconvenient late-night emergencies, giving true peace of mind.
“I’m helping get the business started for my son, Nicholas, who has gone through all the training and certification to become one of our lead technicians. The idea is that after he runs the truck for a few years, he’ll move into a leadership
“If we can prevent just one disaster, it’s absolutely worth it.”
role, where he’ll have the experience to guide new technicians and understand every side of the business,” says Dimbero. “It’s incredibly rewarding to be building this together as a family.”
As they were starting out, Dimbero reached out to a few close friends to generate interest in their services. By chance, he sent an email to someone he didn’t intend to contact.
“To my surprise, she replied right away and ended up becoming one of our first customers,” says Dimbero. “To this day, she’s one of our biggest supporters, often referring people and telling them how she didn’t even realize she was supposed to handle many of these tasks. She loved that someone could come out in one morning and take care of everything.”
Renevado’s mission is to ensure that every customer is 100% satisfied. From pressure washing driveways to cleaning windows to sprucing up exterior light fixtures, they can do it all, whether you are gearing up to move or planning to stay in your house for years to come.
To further make an impact, Renevado launched the Lend a Helping Hand program. This is a once-a-week complimentary preventative maintenance package for individuals or families nominated by their loved ones. The program began with Single Mom Sundays—a dedicated time to assist single moms with critical safety tasks around their homes.
“We have several single mom friends, and seeing how they juggle work, home, and kids’ activities—honestly, I don’t know how they do it. That’s what inspired us to give something to the community in a small way,” says Dimbero. “We’ve since expanded the program to help others, but the goal remains the same: if we can prevent just one disaster, it’s absolutely worth it.”

Yellowstone’s Cole Hauser brings award-winning straight bourbon whiskey to Texas
ARTICLE BY ERICA HERNANDEZ PHOTOGRAPHY BY AUDREY HALL
On-screen, Cole Hauser is best known for his role as bad boy cowboy Rip Wheeler on the hit Western drama, Yellowstone. But off-screen, Cole is a coffee and bourbon connoisseur who’s expanding his rugged brand into Texas.
Hauser’s new bourbon whiskey, Lazy K Bar, pays homage to generations of working cowboys. Once available only in Montana, the setting for Yellowstone, Lazy K Bar is now available to Texas whiskey lovers and fans of the show.
“There’s a big bourbon culture here,” Cole said. “We appreciate that, love it, and look forward to sharing our bourbon with Texas.”
Lazy K Bar draws its name from the Lazy K Bar Ranch in Montana, one of the state’s oldest cattle ranches. The whiskey is a partnership between Cole, Lazy K Bar Ranch owner David Leuschen, and 25-year beverage industry veteran and Gallo’s VP of Spirits Britt West. You can now grab a bottle in select Spec’s Wine, Spirits & Foods and other retailers across Texas before settling in for the final episodes of Yellowstone on November 10th.
“Texas has been kind of a second home,” Cole said. “I get along well with your values and your beliefs down here.”

After years in banking and tech, Mziya Weber realized she wasn’t enriching lives in the way she deeply desired. It was her husband who encouraged her to follow her serving heart and love of nonprofit volunteerism.
Having been born with one arm, Weber faced a lot of turbulence with society believing that she couldn’t do things. But as someone who is always up for a challenge, she found a passion in working out. Not only did it keep her body healthy, but it showed her just how many times she could say, “I can do this.”
“Fitness was my niche, something that I admired,” says Weber. “I didn’t want to train only able-bodied people; I wanted to change the model in the fitness world.”
This led to the founding of REIZ Adaptive Fitness (Resilience, Empowerment, Inclusivity, and Z for her nickname), a nonprofit redefining adaptive athletics. Weber was so dedicated to this mission that she even sold her car to get her dream off the ground.
Over the past year, REIZ has seen clients make significant strides in their fitness journeys. Weber has worked with clients like a visually impaired boy who has grown tremendous confidence in the gym, a partial paraplegic woman who regained the ability to lift her legs, and a stroke survivor learning to walk again. One veteran client was so motivated by his transformation from consistent training that he opened his own gym.
For anyone interested in experiencing workout sessions tailored to their unique abilities, it all starts with a consultation.
“I focus on educating myself, so I do a lot of research based on the client’s needs. We look at your limitation and see how we can push beyond those boundaries, because training really can do so much,” says Weber. “I tend to focus on functional training—lots of core workouts, muscle building, back workouts—that are low-impact so no one gets injured.”
Weber’s efforts have extended to creating inclusive programs for military children at Fort Cavazos, volunteering with life-changing groups like Adaptive Training Foundation, and partnering with local nonprofits such as Heroes Night Out and Disability Rights Texas. As a Team Survivor board member, she also empowers women battling or having survived cancer to thrive through free fitness programs.
“It’s about being an advocate, talking about your story, and hoping that you’re going to inspire others. My clients are incredibly inspirational to me,” says Weber. “Not many people get to fulfill their dreams, so I’m grateful every day. If I have an opportunity to change someone’s life, I’m going to try to do it.”

Confidence takes many forms. This is something that Forever Glow Aesthetics owner Danielle Bayer stands by.
Danielle’s journey into aesthetics stems from a craving to create meaningful change. It isn’t just about injectables; it’s about empowerment. Surrounded by entrepreneurial family members and her encouraging husband and kids, what drove her to open her business was a vision of making a positive impact in women’s lives.
Consultations at Forever Glow are a collaborative process, where clients discuss their goals and realistic expectations.
“I love educating people. There’s a misconception that Botox and fillers always result in a ‘fake’ or ‘overdone’ look, like what we often see in Hollywood,” says Danielle. “Truth is, subtle enhancements can make a huge difference in appearance while still looking completely natural. Continued education is key, and I’m constantly learning new techniques to ensure my clients look and feel like the best version of themselves.”
One of her first clients was a mom whose 30-pound weight loss made her believe she looked old. But after her Forever Glow experience, her confidence soared. During a trip home to Canada, she sent Danielle a photo, and even when bundled up in her jacket, she radiated self-love.
Danielle’s ultimate joy comes from receiving messages that say how much more confident someone has become post-treatment.
“Whether it’s through weight loss or weight gain, stress, or age, we lose who we feel the best to look at in the mirror,” says Danielle. “I love giving clients their confidence back. They can take a picture and feel good looking back at the memories they have made.”

EMPOWER CENTRAL TEXANS WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES THROUGH THE ARC OF THE CAPITAL AREA’S COMPASSIONATE AND INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS
Since 1949, The Arc of the Capital Area has been dedicated to supporting the IDD community across 17 counties in Texas. The organization strives to help everyone it serves live authentically, with equal opportunities for all.
“What makes our approach unique is our commitment to listening and adapting. We actively seek feedback, and use it to improve and grow our programs,” says Olivia Gutierrez, Director of Employment and Education. “This ensures that we’re not just meeting the needs of today but are also preparing for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow.”
“Being part of The Arc means being surrounded by people who genuinely care about lifting others up, and that’s a rare and beautiful thing.”
The Arc maintains a focus on convenient and accessible community engagement, with the Art and Education Program as a key initiative. This provides adults with IDD a platform to express their creativity, culminating in gallery sales three times a year to celebrate the artists’ talents.
Volunteers are essential to The Arc’s mission, participating in events like the galleries and day programs hosted at their locations in Leander, Hutto, and Austin.
“Whether it’s helping prepare supplies, working one-on-one with our artists, or simply joining in on the fun, volunteers play a crucial role in creating a positive environment,” says Gutierrez. “We’re always excited to welcome new faces!”
Gutierrez, along with fellow directors Celina Maddox and Caleb Alford, emphasize the importance of making connections to raise awareness. Witnessing individuals finding their voice and gaining independence is profoundly humbling and inspiring to them. It’s thanks to funding from their ever-growing supporters.
“Every day, we get to see people break through barriers and achieve things they might have once thought impossible,” says Gutierrez. “Knowing that we’re empowering over 1,000 individuals each year isn’t just a number—it’s 1,000 stories of growth, joy, and determination.”
