September
It seems September, with its cooler weather and shortening days, heralds change more than any other month of the year. It's probably partly because we're sad to see summer go. But this month also ushers in a sense of renewal in our landscapes and even ourselves. That's why September is our Style Issue, where we look at the changing styles on the horizon as the days get cooler.
We decided to do something a bit different this year for our Style Issue. We hosted a daylong fashion photo shoot at Saint Clements Castle & Marina with several amazing boutiques in our region that sell women's, kids and men's clothing. They include T hread by Thread of South Glastonbury; The RiverLane of Essex and Mystic; Lemon Llama, Bodytalk, Diesel & Lulu and Coco Lily, all of Avon; and Daswani Clothiers and Kimberly Boutique, both of West Hartford.
Helping us pull it all together were Tina Kiniry and the team at Tina Kiniry Modeling & Acting Agency of West Hartford and Adaora Cobb of SOW Creative, whose organization lead the creative direction.
September is a time when many people start thinking about updating their homes, so this month we have a business feature on a Glastonbury remodeling and building firm, Revive General Contracting.
Also in this issue we spoke with the legal team at KKC Law, which has deep roots in the region and is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
Need to enroll in Medicare insurance or reassess your overall insurance needs? We sat down with Springli Sage, owner of Sage Insurance Solutions, to talk about how she helps consumers navigate the often complex world of Medicare and how she brings a uniquely personal touch to the process of helping clients find the right plan.
We hope you have a happy and healthy end of your summer and that you enjoy this month's Style Issue of Glastonbury Lifestyle Magazine!

Celebrating 60 Years of Excellence
ARTICLE BY LUCINDA JAMISON | PHOTOGRAPHY BY TRANSPARENCY CONCEPTS
This year marks a significant milestone for KKC LAW LLP, previously known as Kahan, Kerensky, and Capossela, as it celebrates its 60th anniversary.
Founded in 1964, the firm has grown from its humble beginnings in Vernon into a pillar of the community, providing comprehensive legal services across twelve practice areas. As KKC Law steps into a new chapter, it continues to uphold its legacy of excellence, community involvement, and client-focused service.
KKC Law’s history is a testament to its enduring commitment to the local communities. The firm has maintained its headquarters in Vernon for six decades, founded by Robert Kahan, Sol Kerensky, and Joseph Capossela. Over the years, KKC has expanded its reach and breadth of services while remaining true to its founding values.
“The firm’s management views our legacy as a privilege and a responsibility,” says Managing Partner Michael Kopsick. “It is a privilege that the firm’s partners had a commitment to excellence and real integrity; it is our responsibility to instill those qualities in our current and future staff.”
With twelve distinct practice areas, KKC Law offers a broad spectrum of legal services, ensuring clients receive high-quality support no matter their needs.
“We have a lot of variety in our practices, from real estate closings to estate planning and litigation,” explains Partner Allison Poirier. This diversity makes KKC a full-service firm for many clients who often return for different services and are confident in the consistent level of excellence.
While firmly rooted in Vernon, KKC Law extends its reach to neighboring communities like West Hartford and Glastonbury.
All of the partners and staff of KKC have deep roots in the region and are active in their communities. “We own
our homes and raise our children here. We spend our free time shopping (locally).” The firm has joined local chambers and become involved in other business groups in the region. “Naturally, this has led business friends to call on KKC when they need an attorney.”
KKC’s commitment to excellence has not gone unnoticed. The firm has received numerous accolades, including the Hartford Courant’s Best of Category awards for Best Law Firm overall, Best Family Law, Best Corporate Law, Best Personal Injury Lawyer, and Best Elder Law. These awards, voted by readers, underscore KKC’s client-first approach and high-quality service. Bowen concluded, “KKC offers sophisticated legal services at a fair price, which is attractive to everyone whether you are from Tolland, Manchester, Fairfield County, or West Hartford.”
In conjunction with their 60th anniversary, the firm unveiled a new website and updated logo in September. This rebranding effort also includes a formal name change from “Kahan, Kerensky, and Caposella” to simply “KKC Law.” The refreshed look aligns with modern trends while maintaining the firm’s storied legacy.
As KKC celebrates this significant milestone, it remains committed to its core values of community service and legal excellence. Kopsick reflected, “Given the strength of the firm’s foundation, KKC expects to provide quality legal service to its clients and this community for generations to come.” “We’ve been able to serve the community for 60 years,” Poirier added, “and we hope to continue doing so for the next 60.”

Local Retailers Show Off Their Fall Fashions in Our Annual Style Issue
September is our Style Issue here at Glastonbury Lifestyle Magazine and this year we decided to hold a fashion shoot to show off some of the fall styles offered at some of our amazing boutiques here in the region.
Helping us pull it all together was Tina Kiniry and the team at Tina Kiniry Modeling & Acting Agency of West Hartford, who produced and
coordinated all the models for the daylong production. Adaora Cobb, of SOW Creative, led the creative direction of our exciting and stylish photo shoot.
Hair and makeup services for our models were provided by Parisian Day Spa & Salon in Cromwell, and independent local stylist Bridget Iacobelli. The shoot took place on the picturesque grounds of Saint Clements Castle & Marina in Portland, which overlooks the Connecticut River and is one of the largest and oldest event venues in the region.
The photographers for the photo shoot were Azur Mele and Peter Mellekas.
The stores taking part were Coco Lily, Bodytalk, Lemon Llama, and Diesel & Lulu, all of Avon; Daswani Clothiers and Kimberly Boutique, both of West Hartford; Thread by Thread of South Glastonbury; and The RiverLane of Essex and Mystic.
We hope you enjoy our Style fashion spread as much as we did producing it!

SAGE INSURANCE SOLUTIONS
A PERSONAL TOUCH IN THE OVERWHELMING FIELD OF MEDICARE
ARTICLE BY BRIAN BOYER
In the world of insurance, where complex terms and bureaucratic processes often leave people feeling overwhelmed, Springli Sage, owner of Sage Insurance Solutions stands out with her personalized approach and dedication to client education.
Springli prefers meeting clients face-toface and travels throughout the state to meet with them. Her unique methods have made her a trusted advisor, particularly in the realm of Medicare programs.
Sage has been in the insurance industry since 1997. Her journey began with a liberal arts degree and a temporary position at a local branch of Nationwide Insurance.
“I realized I understood the customer side of the business,” she says. “Revenue and profit and loss were important, but what really drove me was the desire to help people understand what insurance they had and why they needed it.”
Sage’s empathetic approach is crucial when dealing with Medicare, a subject that often makes people nervous. Licensed in 2012, she focuses on meeting clients where they are most comfortable and visually demonstrating the products available to them.
“I prefer to avoid the phone and meet people in person,” she notes. “Medicare can be overwhelming, and my goal is to make it easier to understand by showing clients their options directly.”
Medicare is a significant focus for Sage Insurance, although it also handles health and life insurance policies as well. Sage highlights the importance of being wellversed in the latest changes in this heavily regulated field.
“If you’re not up on the latest changes, it can be overwhelming,” she explains. “I try to slow down the process for people approaching 65 when Medicare kicks in. There are a lot of variables, and starting with a conversation helps create a sense of awareness.”
Sage’s approach to Medicare in Connecticut, a guaranteed issue state, provides clients with a unique advantage.
“Here, people can change what they are doing without being penalized, so there are more choices,” she says. “This flexibility is essential, especially with upcoming changes like the $2,000 annual cap on prescriptions.”
A testament to her effectiveness, Sage recalls a significant success story: “I had a customer who couldn’t navigate AccessHealth and was paying $2,000 per month. Now, they’re down to $200 after just a few meetings.” This example underscores the importance of having a knowledgeable advisor and building trust and credibility through consistent support, she says.
“Just because someone is not a paid client doesn’t mean they don’t need help,” she adds, emphasizing her commitment to assisting everyone who seeks her guidance.
Sage builds lasting relationships with her clients and her personal approach and ability to put people at ease sets her apart in a field often perceived as impersonal.
“Everyone I talk to is worried, but I make them comfortable by following the rules and not being in it just for the money.”
An average of 10,000 baby boomers age into Medicare every day and very few of them are comfortable navigating the enrollment process, she says.
“There are more people that need help than agents to service their needs.”
Her personal touch and presence in her clients’ lives, as well as her love of her work, she adds, makes her a successful agent.
“I make it a practice to help everyone.”

REVIVE GENERAL CONTRACTING
A home builder and remodeler that prides itself on transparency
ARTICLE BY EILEEN M. MCNAMARA PHOTOGRAPHY BY TYLER RIVERA
With more than 20 years in the home building industry, Mike Kruse decided to start his own business and in 2021 he launched Revive General Contracting here in Glastonbury.
After years of working as a Project Manager and a Vice President of Operations for large corporate home building
“Transparency in everything we do is really our thing; honestly, integrity and transparency.”
firms, Mike says he wanted to get back to what he loved most in his career: Working directly with homeowners and clients and helping them bring their dream home or remodel to life.
“I climbed the corporate ladder and I got the title and salary I thought I wanted but I wasn’t happy not having a voice directly in projects. I really enjoy interacting with customers and I missed that. Also, you get to see what you’re creating instead of just looking at spreadsheets and numbers.”
He and his employees at Revive General Contracting pride themselves not only on the quality of their workmanship and products, but their commitment to openness and transparency with clients.
“Our customers are spending a lot of money with us, sometimes their life savings, and they are
entrusting us with that and with planning out their project. We’re incredibly transparent with what we do. We want to spend people’s money wisely and we are as down to earth and honest as possible with all of our customers. Transparency in everything we do is really our thing; honestly, integrity and transparency.”
Revive General Contracting, which is a member of Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Central Connecticut, does a variety of residential work, from new homes to remodeling jobs, Mike says.
“We do such a wide variety of things, everything from new homes, additions, renovations, kitchens and bathrooms, and we’re good at it! Nothing is above us or beneath us.”
The company is located here in Glastonbury and does a lot of work in the surrounding area, “but with the right job and the right terms we will travel,” Mike says.
“For instance, I have a historic home I’m working on in Haddam right now. It’s not just a rebuild or new build, we’re adapting the house to keep it original character. It’s really exciting because the owners want to keep the historic character of the home, such as original wide pine floors, and I just love that!”
Mike and his family have lived in Glastonbury for nine years and have grown to love the town.
For that reason, he adds, Revive General Contracting also likes to give back to the town by supporting local youth sports organizations, such as the Glastonbury Hartwell Soccer Club and Hebron Avenue School.
“It’s a fantastic community and it’s been very supportive of our business, a lot of our success here has been from word of mouth from customers in the community.”
