Gratitude

As we enter this season of Thanksgiving, it's a time to pause and reflect on the many blessings in our lives. Thanksgiving is more than just a holiday— it's a reminder to express gratitude consciously. It encourages us to cherish moments with loved ones and to give back meaningfully.

In our pursuit of goals and achievements, it's easy to overlook the importance of being present and appreciating those who support us along the way. True fulfillment doesn't come from external markers like possessions or titles; it stems from within and from embracing who we are meant to be.

As the year winds down, it's a time for reflection on our accomplishments and the journey we've traveled. Personally, I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who has supported our local businesses. Your support not only sustains these businesses but also enriches our communities and local economies.

Every day, I am grateful for my four children. Witnessing their growth and development is a constant source of joy and fulfillment in my life.

Our November issue is dedicated to stories of gathering, gratitude, and community support. We are immensely thankful for the residents and businesses in our communities who generously contribute to various organizations, making our cities vibrant and supportive places to live.

I also want to express gratitude to our advertising partners who play a crucial role in bringing this magazine to your homes and businesses each month. They are integral to our mission of sharing inspiring stories and celebrating the positive news in our communities.

As we prepare to gather with loved ones this holiday season, let's embrace the true spirit of Thanksgiving. Let's take time to reflect on what truly matters and to appreciate the blessings in our lives.

Thank you for being part of our community and for your ongoing support.

Thank you for reading Lifestyle and I hope to see you around town!

Blessings to you and your family,

November 2024

THE MISSION OF THE GOOD SHEPARDS FOUNDATION

A NON-PROFIT DEDICATED TO ENHANCING THE LIVES OF PACK DOGS THROUGH SUPPORT PROGRAMS, TRAINING, REHABILITATION, EDUCATION, AND THERAPY RESCUE EFFORTS.

Stacie Shepard, CEO of The Good Shephards Foundation, a non-profit organization in Yorba Linda, has always harbored a deep passion for animals, shaped by her lifelong experience caring for a variety of pets. This nurturing environment cultivated her family’s love for animals and instilled in them the skills and dedication necessary to help animals thrive in a safe and loving atmosphere.

The bond shared between dogs and humans is the most true and powerful of friendships. A pet’s sole purpose is to love and be loved, unconditionally.

During the pandemic, Stacie and her oldest daughter, Isabella, launched a dog-walking business, recognizing the incredible potential for community outreach through the joyful energy of their furry companions. This initiative inspired Stacie to establish The Good Shephards Foundation, where she now focuses on transforming lives through emotional support dogs.

Isabella, who serves as the Foundation’s Board Treasurer and a Certified Elite Trainer, has her own inspiring journey. Her work as a dog walker and boarding attendant in Newport Beach ignited her passion for animal care. After four years of gaining valuable experience, she decided to start her own business centered around her love for animals. Together, Stacie and Isabella are dedicated to the mission of The Good Shephards Foundation, using their expertise and enthusiasm to make a positive impact in their communities.

The Good Shepards Foundation proudly features an all-female Board of Directors, composed of well-established businesswomen from the Yorba Linda community. These dedicated individuals share a deep passion for both their community and the welfare of animals, driving the foundation’s mission to make a positive impact. Their commitment and expertise reflect a strong bond with the community, ensuring that the foundation’s initiatives resonate with the values and needs of those they serve.

Fresh take on a local favorite

Grab your crew and celebrate the season of gratitude at The Blind Coyote Cantina formerly The Blind Pig, where you’re in store for a delicious, memorable meal.

In 2019, Tony Monaco, owner of The Blind Pig in Santa Margarita, opened a second location in Yorba Linda, along with Executive Chef Karl Pfleider.

Five years later, Tony changed the name and concept of the Yorba Linda location. Blind Coyote Cantina, formerly The Blind Pig, is now open for business!

“Join us for a vibrant atmosphere filled with flavor and fun. Experience an elevated dining experience that celebrates Mexican cuisine paired with a California ranchero influence. We feature expertly crafted dishes, an exceptional agave bar, and a curated selection of top tequilas and mezcals.”

“We took the things we love most about The Bling Pig and paired them with Mexican cuisine. Enjoy upbeat vibes, an upscale but inviting atmosphere, and a world-class bar program.”

Although the restaurant has a new name and concept, they’ve stayed true to only using the freshest, best quality ingredients and delivering excellent service their customers love.

Tony’s restaurant roots and community ties have always run deep.

“I’ve always been a community-driven restaurateur. My first restaurant was in my hometown,–Rancho Santa Margarita. Yorba Linda has a lot of similarities with RSM in that sense. I have many longtime family friends who live in Yorba Linda, and I spent a lot of time in the community myself before opening the restaurant. I have always liked to take care of the people who take care of me.”

“We always use local vendors for our restaurants whenever possible. Anytime we need a service that can be done by a Yorba Linda-based business, we call them.

AUSOME SAUCE IS A NONPROFIT COMMITTED TO CELEBRATING NEURODIVERSITY AND EQUIPPING CAREGIVERS AND THEIR YOUNG CHILDREN WITH TOOLS TO CONNECT AND ESTABLISH A SENSE OF COMMUNITY.

Our differences make us extraordinary–and those one-of-a-kind abilities are certainly something to celebrate and be thankful for.

Based in Brea, AUsome Sauce is a nonprofit organization on a mission to give families with neurodiverse children a safe space to learn, grow, and feel a sense of belonging within a loving, inclusive community.

“AUsome Sauce is the perfect blend of safety and connection for caregivers with young neurodiverse children. Our organization provides a central place for community, socialization, educational resources, and parent-to-parent connections. We aim to bring comfort in knowing they are not alone in their journey.”

What exactly does neurodivergent mean? Generally speaking, a neurodivergent individual is one whose brain works differently.

According to AUsome Sauce, “Neurodiverse refers to the concept that variations in neurological development are natural and invaluable part of human diversity. It encompasses a range of conditions, such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other cognitive differences.”

“As a nonprofit, we are working to help the world view these differences not as disorders to be fixed, but as normal and valuable.”

The AS calendar is typically full of special events that reach out to children with exceptionalities and their families in the community.

“Everything we host is geared towards family events that include their neurodiverse children. Our holiday events are our biggest mixers of the year. Support needs families tend to ‘miss out’ on certain experiences, like trick-or-treating or pictures with CONTINUED >

Santa, we do our best to provide those opportunities in a safe environment.”

As the organization grows, so does AUsome Sauce’s reach.

“While our home base is in North Orange County, we have partnered with businesses and other organizations in different areas of Southern California. Our families have driven from as far as Temecula to as close as the city next door. We have built a great rapport with those who support us and have found that our families travel because they want to be a part of a community.”

One particular event, the AUsome Sauce Resource Market, is held twice a year. Our Winter Market will be held in November.

“This event goes beyond a typical community gathering; the goal of the market is to inform existing AS families and surrounding communities about resources available, while also supporting small businesses and nonprofit organizations within the framework of an engaging and entertaining event.”

The theme for the 2024 AUsome Resource Market is “‘Tis the Season for Inclusion,” held on November 16th from 10 AM to 2 PM. This exciting event, which promises to be “a joyful celebration of the neurodivergent community,” will showcase over 50 vendors, live music, festive photo ops, kid-friendly activities, a sensory room, family entertainment, food trucks, a Meet and Greet opportunity with Santa, free admission, and free parking.
