This is an exciting time of year as we see many of our students benefit from their hard work. Graduation is just around the corner. As we say goodbye to some of our students, we turn our attention towards the close out of this fiscal year and the preparation for the new fiscal and academic year. In this newsletter, we are pleased to introduce you to some of our new team members, share with you many of the projects we are working on as well as update you on additional important information. I wish all of you an enjoyable and safe summer.

FACILITIES CONSTRUCTION & CONTRACTS FACILITIES SPRING PROJECTS 2017 AS THE SUMMER APPROACHES WE BEGIN THE BUSIEST SEASON FOR FACILITIES AND MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES. HERE ARE SOME OF THE PROJECTS WE ACCOMPLISHED DURING THE SPRING BREAK. LIBRARY The exterior Atrium entryway was painted and the carpet on the interior stairwell was replaced. The Library also received new furniture and we are in the process of upholstering 200 of the interior chairs. PARKING LOT STRIPING Many of the campus parking lots were cleaned and painted with new striping as well as main crossroad walks. In addition, new speed bumps were installed where necessary. FOOTBALL LOCKER ROOM FLOORING The football locker room received new durable flooring. AUTO/WELDING SHOP The Welding shop was relocated to the new Automotive/Welding Complex and was ready to serve our welding students after the Spring Break. They joined the new Automotive, Service Writer and Smog Certification programs and new classroom functions. ROOF REPAIRS Roof repairs were completed at the Library, Student Activities Center and Science Buildings. Next will be the Performing Arts Center lobby. ATHLETIC TUTORING LAB The Athletic Tutoring Lab received new carpet and new computers.

REMODEL OLD WELDING SHOP
We are currently working with APCO signs on updating campus Signage and Wayfinding. Our IT Team is working with Apple Valley Communications to implement this system.
We are currently working with DLR Group on the Preliminary Programming of this project. We anticipate to begin remodeling the old welding shop to convert it into a brake/alignment shop.
MAINTENANCE & OPERATIONS The Maintenance and Operations department is pleased to announce the addition of three new custodians to our team: Robert Contreras, Ashley Jacobs, and Francisco Reyes. All three staff members started on May 1, 2017.
Robert Contreras was a sub custodian for our maintenance department for one year before being hired. He did an excellent job for us and we are excited to be able to keep him on full time.

Ashley Jacobs comes to us with experience in local K-12 school districts. Having a lot of experience in the custodial field, she is so thrilled to be a part of the VVC team.
Francisco Reyes comes to us with a variety of maintenance and operations experience - working at one time with the UCLA maintenance staff, as well as local business maintenance departments. He's happy about the opportunity to be at VVC.
We are delighted to add great staff to assist with our daily operations, and look forward to continue recruiting, with the goal of being fully staffed. Thanks to all that assisted. Joseph Garcia, Maintenance and Operation Manager (night shift) | Maintenance and Operation
