Administrative Services Quarterly Newsletter

Volume 2, Edition 2

Message from the Vice President of Administrative Services Tracey L. Richardson We use these quarterly newsletters to share information, which we hope is useful to you. The administrative services team is responsible for payroll, accounting, purchasing, budget, risk management, facilities construction, building maintenance, landscaping, custodial services, bookstore, print shop, Performing Arts Center, facility rentals, warehouse operations, switchboard and mail services. As you see from that lengthy list, we are service providers to the entire campus community. As service providers, we are continuously looking for feedback. Thank you to everyone who has, or soon will, complete a customer satisfaction survey for the Administrative Services division.

All of us in Administrative Services wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday season.

CONGRATULATIONS, DONALD! Maintenance and Operations is excited to announce our new Lead Custodian, Donald Robinson. We are happy to say that an internal candidate, within our department, will continue to be a part of the team in a new capacity. Donald has been employed with VVC since June of 2016. Donald came to us with experience in the custodial field from Veterans Hospital in Barstow as a supervisor. As a custodian here at VVC, Donald worked at the Regional Complex (RPSTC) and did a great job. He filled in as acting lead for the last 2 months and really brought an energy and excitement to the position. We are thrilled to have him as part of the leadership team. Join me in congratulating Donald Robinson - he will be expecting to hear from you for any of your custodial needs! Donald.Robinson@vvc.edu

The Board of Governors Energy and Sustainability Awards were established in 2012 to recognize leadership in implementing goals set forth in Proposition 39, also known as the California Clean Energy Jobs Act, to improve energy efficiency and expand clean energy generation in schools. Award winners are chosen based upon a point system comparing cost savings, energy savings and jobs created by Prop 39 energy projects. On November 13th, Victor Valley College received an Honorable Mention from The California Community Colleges Board of Governors for “Constant to Variable Air Volume Air Handler Upgrades. This air-handler upgrade project is estimated to save 120,000 kilowatt hours, resulting in energy cost savings of approximately $15,000 annually. Additionally, construction of this project created more than 750 hours of journeyman employment. With the commitment and support of Administration and the Board of Trustees, the Facilities Department has been able to implement a continual effort in completing energy efficient projects for the District. Proposition 39, in conjunction with District funding, have completed projects such as Solar Covered Parking, Exterior LED Lighting throughout campus, Constant to Variable Air Volume Air Handler upgrades, and Central Plant Boiler replacements. These improvements continue to save the District thousands of dollars annually in utility and maintenance cost.
