Administrative Services Quarterly Newsletter

Volume 3, Edition 1

Message from the Vice President of Administrative Services Tracey L. Richardson On behalf of all of us in Administrative Services, we would like to welcome you back to the start of the 2018-19 Academic Year! We hope that you have had an enjoyable summer, whether you were at VVC, or away enjoying your time elsewhere. As the new semester began, you saw many changes on campus. The most obvious is the beginning of construction on the new Student Services One Stop building. Steve Garcia and his team are continuing to work through the bid process to hire general construction workers for finish carpentry, concrete work, metals and steel, roofing, drywall, painting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, landscaping and irrigation and other services for this project. Roadways have been diverted, construction trucks are motoring about and workers are busy with their various jobs. Please be cautious as you drive or walk around the restricted construction regions. More information on this project is available on the Facilities, Construction and Contracts website: http://www.vvc.edu/offices/facilities/. On the next page, Auxiliary Services, you will find a list of upcoming Performing Arts Center events and performances (check out a musical production); important Bookstore information (for faculty, staff and students), Student Activities Center events and updated Print Shop service info (secure printing instructions). Our Payroll Department has beneficial workshops coming up regarding CalSTERS and CalPERs, as well as information on 403b and 457 plans. Our custodial staff has been very hard at work this summer and have achieved brilliant results with their efforts. They deserve a lot of credit. We wish all of you a happy and successful semester.

Tracey

Maintenance & Operations Busy Summer for M & O The 2018 summer has been extremely productive for the custodial staff at VVC. With the completion of projects campus wide, the custodial team far exceeded expectations set at the start of the summer. As a department we were creative in scheduling ways to both cover summer sessions and daily use of the campus, as well as completion of deep cleaning projects. Custodial staff has boosted productivity and efficiency, by using new and up-to-date cleaning methods and tools for daily cleaning, and projects during breaks on campus. Congratulations to the custodial team - job well done!!! Joseph Garcia
