Ask Koren Your personal E-therapist, is in the house!
They Say a Man Aint Suppose to Cry... child custody issue or find yourself turning to alcohol to deal with your problems, get help. If you find yourself hitting walls or hitting people or displaying unusual aggression, get help. It is not sign of weakness to ask for help. 4. Count your blessings. It almost never fails to boost a person’s mood when they consider the good things that are going on in their life. Life is certainly not perfect, but being able to identify some good can help you feel optimistic. 5. Re-evaluate your life. Make sure that your priorities are in order. If you are having three women at the same time, of course you will always be stressed; check your life and see what needs to be thrown out (cigarette smoking), what can be fixed (a relationship) and what can be kept (your good job). So when the going gets tough and you are feeling some stress, cry if you need to, there is no law against it, then get up and do what needs to be done to ensure your happiness.
Those are the words from a R&B song sung by Public Announcement, about a man who was willing to cry with his girl when she was going through difficult times. If a man really isn’t supposed to cry, then what does he do when his mom passes on, he feels lonely, gets fired or is dumped by the love of his life? Society accepts it that when a woman is emotional, she will do things to express those emotions – cry, eat chocolate, gather her girlfriends for some much needed advice, call her mother, etc. However, we sometimes act as if men are supposed to be made out of iron or stone. Well, let’s change that attitude and give them permission to express themselves. Guys, here are five ways to deal with emotional stress: 1. Talk to someone. Whether it is a guy who can understand you, the pastor at your church, a platonic girlfriend who won’t spread your business or a co-worker who has your back, find someone you trust and talk to them. 2. Get physical. I don’t mean to hit someone or hit a wall. Walking, swimming, jogging, going to the gym or even upping the quantity of intimacy in your relationship can relieve some stress. 3. Get help. If you are really in a bind like dealing with a

future brother-in-law Teddy (Mason Lee) go out to the beach for just “one beer.” Inevitably the night takes on a life of its own and leads them into “downtown” Bangkok for a night of drinking, debauchery and general mayhem. They wake the next morning in a seedy hotel room with no idea where they are and no recollection of the night before. Even worse, Stu has acquired a facial tattoo, Alan has a shaved head and they now have a chain-smoking monkey - but worst of all – Lauren’s brother Teddy is missing. They set off to retrace their steps through the strip clubs and tattoo parlors of Bangkok to find Teddy and after a series of misadventures, they do – arriving back just as Lauren’s father is about to cancel the wedding. However, Stu finally stands up for himself and impressed by his sudden authority, Lauren’s father gives the couple his blessing. This is a fun movie for entertainment value and there is even a surprise guest cameo appearance, but we are not giving that away!
video views Hangover II If you enjoyed Hangover I, then you will undoubtedly enjoy Director, Todd Phillips’ latest offering. The movie does cling to the same formula of the original, however, Hangover II still manages to deliver laughs and great one-liners despite the “been there, done that” feeling that permeates the film. This time around Stu (Ed Helms) is getting married to Lauren (Jamie Chung) and the wedding is being held in Thailand. Along for the ride are Phil (Bradley Cooper), Doug (Justin Bartha), and much to Stu’s chagrin, Alan (Zach Galifianakis). The wedding party starts off well enough with all the guests attending a pre-wedding dinner at the beachside hotel. However, when Lauren’s father delivers his speech he shows his disapproval of Stu by comparing him to “rice pudding” and not in a sweet way! When it comes to Alan’s turn to speak, his trademark lack of social etiquette results in him having to be sidelined as he starts to recall a “not so family time in Las Vegas!” After the dinner, the four guys, along with Stu’s

A Foot in the Future Until recently we had been a low-tech family – and I will admit, we had a certain pride in not joining our disposable society. Our attitude was: “if it works, why replace it?” Our ten-year-old TV – a behemoth 26” that was as deep as it was wide and as heavy as a refrigerator – refused to break down, so we kept it. We had a fantastic state of the art Sony amplifier receiver and seven surround sound speakers, but somehow our ancient television and our old DVD player never hooked up to the system correctly. On a good day, sound might come out of two, maybe three speakers, but never all. For us, that movie theater experience would have to wait a bit longer. So when our DVD player stopped working, it seemed that the time for us to enter the HD world had finally arrived. “Let’s get a Blu-ray,” I suggested to my husband, pleased that I was familiar with the newest technology. If HD was the wave of the future, I thought, then we should ride it. This meant, though, that our “last century” television would also have to be replaced, otherwise we’d still have a foot in the past. Before long, a new 32” HD television was installed in our entertainment cabinet (altered to accommodate a television that was – at long last – wider than it was deep) alongside the new Blu-ray. Since husbands were invented to do the heavy lifting, Alan carried the old television (with difficulty, but fortunately no hernia) to our spare room where our guests could enjoy life as it was in the ‘90s. Disposing of it was not an option! But that’s where our technical expertise ended. Faced with a daunting display of HDMI ports, speaker connections and audio and video outputs, not to mention a labyrinth of wires and cables – we had a technological meltdown. Fortunately, a techie down the road Limin’ Times Entertainment Guide
came to our rescue. In short order, all the connectors found their way into the correct ports, and voila! We had seven speakers, a Blu-ray and TV all talking to one another. He even managed to reduce four remote controls down to one. The 21st century had at last arrived with a little help from a friend.

The Cobblestone Terrace is also popular, overlooking the Channel and outer-lying islands, where you can enjoy a leisurely dinner chosen from their diverse a la carte menu. French born, Chef Eric has worked in top class restaurants around the world and the menu reflects those culinary experiences, such as the French Polynesian “Trilogy of Tuna Tartar with coconut milk, lime and lemon” or the Bermudan influenced “Minestrone of conch, Caribbean dark rum and sherry pepper.” As Cecile said, “we want to serve up great food in a warm gastro atmosphere,” so if this is your idea of food heaven – look no further. — Jan Critchley
Walking into Brandywine Bay Restaurant one breezy, sunny afternoon, I could not quite put my finger on what had changed, but something had. Perhaps it was the new La Provence Lounge Bar that treats you to unparalleled views over the bay and a perfect sunset spot. This is also the perfect place to enjoy one of their many classic and contemporary cocktails. The breezy, relaxed atmosphere adds to the vibe here and gives the restaurant a friendly yet casual feel, which is exactly what the new owners Eric and Cecile are striving for. The dress code is elegantly casual, as

Sailor Alec Anderson Bags All American Honors I remember the first time I saw this little skinny kid maneuvering a small dinghy in the Sir Francis Drake Channel during a kids race. I then learnt he would leave school and head out to sea on his own – decked in safety gear – to practice while most of his counterparts went home. Alec Anderson not only loves sailing, but it’s his passion and he has an unwavering dedication to his craft. He has gone on to represent the BVI in several U.S. Jr. Championships and the ISAF World Championship events – with a seventh place showing in 2009. This is the best win by a BVI sailor in ISAF competition since Robbie Hirst won silver in the same championships in 1987. Now a Roger Williams University Hawks sophomore, Anderson – coming off double New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) Athlete of the Week accolades – wrapped up his brilliant sailing season with All America Honors. Teaming with St. Thomas’ Cy Thompson and Bermuda’s Sean Bouchard, Anderson not only helped Roger Williams to make APS/ICSA Team Race National Championships debut, but the trio helped to win its first title after three days of hard racing in Cascade Locks, Oregon. After losing their first race of the final day, the trio pulled off three successive victories over Boston College – the last breaking a tie that gave them the thrilling victory. Anderson picked up one of the 11 All America Honors doled out and was one of two sophomores to get the nod. “I was really, really excited. Coming into nationals, I wasn’t sure I would get it,” said Anderson who earned All New England honors and is a London
2012 Olympic Games hopeful. “We won the team race national event and after that, at the banquet, I won All America and was excited about All American Sailor Alec Anderson that.” Until this year, the Hawks had never qualified for a sailing national championship. Leading up to the event, Anderson said they had a great week of practice before heading out to Oregon. “We started the event confident, doing well in the first couple rounds, and once we realized we had a shot of winning it, we put our heads down and came out with the victory,” Anderson recalled. “It was quite an accomplishment and we were all really, really excited.” Anderson described the season as “very special,” and was happy to be part of the team as they made several major accomplishments along the way. They won the New England Coed Championships for the first time in school history; they are ranked first nationally, for the first time ever; qualified for the team race championships for the first time and won the team race title for the first time. “There were a lot of major accomplishments that we had that I was happy to be a part of,” Anderson said. Anderson’s sailing feat marks the third BVI sport to bag All America Honors. Soccer was the first in 1974-75, followed by track and field at all levels – Jr. College, Divisions I, II and III – and at the High School level. 19
