This Week’s Feature Story by Arlena Smith

Disney Experience with a Twist This Sunday, June 1st, at the Eileen Parsons Auditorium eCamps British Virgin Islands is proud to present the Disney Experience with a Twist. This musical presentation based on classic Disney animated movies such as Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, Hercules among other classics is an event the whole family can enjoy. The musical will feature group performances by the eCampers themselves along with help from friends like Kirk Adams, Brent Hoyte, and The Adagio Dance Company among others. And the twist, there will be a special performance from more recent Disney movies such as the Oscar nominated song Happy from Despicable Me 2 and Kassandra Malone singing the favorite Hallelujah from Shrek. High Frequency Band will be on hand to back up the performances led by Drexel Glasgow and Brent Hoyte. With full dress costumes for the Circle of Life number from the Lion King you are definitely in for a treat. So, don’t miss your chance to experience this amazing musical event. Show starts at 5pm and tickets can be purchased at Bolos, J&C Department Store, and Beautiful by Jasanay and from parents of eCampers – see you there!

On Sunday enjoy a fun evening of Disney music and dance in support of eCamps British Virgin Islands. eCamps British Virgin Islands was established in 2012 in order to facilitate global learning through experience for young people ages 9-17. At eCamps the aim is to help young people develop life skills. It is an opportunity for them to learn about their immediate surroundings, as well as gain an appreciation and understanding of the wider world. A large part of the eCamps experience is travel. Its programs are designed to incorporate learning, entertainment and exposure to different cultures, which eCamps believes is the greatest form of learning. To date, the group has traveled the British Virgin Islands, as well as to England and France. This year another group of young adventurers will journey to Asia from July 6th – 26th where campers will spend four days in a cultural immersion program in Hong Kong, before heading to Singapore for a series of learning journeys with students of the Singapore school system and a museum tour in Malaysia. In a fundraising effort for their upcoming travel the campers have put together a show like no other.

Ask Koren Outside Child Causing Problems

Your personal E-therapist, is in the house!

Ask Koren

Dear Koren, My boyfriend and I have a daughter together, but he cheated on me and the girl he cheated with got pregnant. The child is 6 months old and I feel badly that I have never seen the child. We decided to work things out because he says he wants to be with me and his daughter. However, he expects me to be okay with him going to the child’s house, when I prefer that he brings the child to where we live. What advice do you have on how I should handle this situation? –Frustrated

insecure about his relationship with the baby’s mother and you prefer to be able to keep an eye on things. You’re going to have to trust him at some point, because you won’t be able to know his whereabouts all the time and he could be talking to her or anyone else. So don’t torture yourself about that. If he made a commitment to being with you and the daughter you share, then just focus on strengthening your relationship and take your focus off the other baby’s mother. This is not an easy situation, but the good thing is that you have forgiven him and he has chosen to stay with you. You and he now need to come to some agreement on how you will handle the situation. Don’t try to control things you can’t change, just adapt to the new circumstances. He needs to see his child and you should not be putting him on a guilt trip every time he does. Forgiveness means that you not throw his past mistakes in his face constantly. With a little bit of understanding on both parts and a lot of communication, you can work things out.

Dear Frustrated, Unfortunately, you and your boyfriend are not the only players in the game; there is also the other mother. Perhaps she is not comfortable with her daughter coming to your home, especially if she is unsure of how you will relate to the child. Although the child is innocent she does not know what to expect from you, so she might prefer to keep her child close and have the father visit. It would be unfair to ask him to not go there to see the baby; just let it be and in that the mother might allow him to bring the child out when she is a bit older. Please refrain from starting any drama as that could cause the young lady to make things difficult for him to see his child. I’m making a wild guess here that you are still a bit

The Miracle Garden Isn’t this dry and sunny weather delightful? At the beginning of April I planted tomato saplings, peppers, beans and black eyed peas to add to my fresh produce of bananas, plantains and limes. They’re all doing well; it’s a little cooler and a little wetter up here on Sage Mountain and I have a huge cistern so water is never a worry. One of the issues concerns the expense of operating a small vegetable garden. There are quite a few supplies necessary to maintain a garden that will produce results. Beans, peppers and tomatoes all need to climb so trellis or chicken wire needs to be found. Support for this is necessary too to keep
