Ask Koren She broke the rules Ask Koren Dear Koren,
Your personal E-therapist, is in the house!
when she was actually doing it. Confronting her now has less impact. Why not talk with the other members of the group instead and remind them that no one is perfect. Her indiscretion does not automatically make her a man-eater, so no need for them to start shielding their partners. Remind them also that a relationship is a two way street and she cannot get to these men without their consent. I think they have a bit of insecurity in their relationships and what she did is just highlighting their issues. If they are so worried, then they need to find ways to strengthen their relationships. Nobody can be taken unless they want to be taken. If you really feel a burning desire to say something to her, just simply tell her you realized she made a mistake recently, but you are happy that she resolved it, as that might have been a situation that caused her and others’ pain. Let her also know, that going forward, you are there for her and expect better of her. It’s not easy being a single woman with limited options, but good friends can really get one over a rough patch.
We are a group of five women in our late 30s who were friends since high school and we hang out sometimes. One of the girls recently briefly dated a guy who is married. The other three are talking about her behind her back and they say they feel uncomfortable with her around their boyfriends/husbands. I personally don’t have a problem with her. Should I suggest we talk to her as a group or should I just warn her on her own? –Friend Dear Friend, Just because someone made a mistake once, that does not mean that they will make it again; also, just because someone went with a married man that does not mean that they only go after men who are taken. We need to stop being so judgmental of each other as women and be more helpful. They are taking her actions which were not against them, too personally. This woman is an adult and knows what she did. What will you tell her that she does not already know? Your confronting her over a situation that has already ended might create tension, have her all defensive and put a strain on the friendship. While a friend is there to be a mirror sometimes to help us to see what we are doing wrong, the best time to draw to her attention that she might be hurting her image and hurting another woman, would have been

When an "Upgrade" Isn't Always son that the second generation iPad was far superior to the original and with the tantalizing offer of a buy back of my old one. Sounded good to me, so I upgraded to iPad 2. There were some tweaks I appreciated, like the smart cover that opened my device by just opening the cover. It was faster and the picture quality far superior. In the meantime Apple went on to two more upgrades the number 3 and number 4. I stayed loyal to my second generation model. Then I begin to hear buzz about the number 5 called iPad Air. It came out almost simultaneously with the mini iPad which I had no interest in as the screen size was one of my reasons for choosing the tablet format. Sorry, iPhone lovers, you can micro-manage your life on your micro screens, but that's not for me. I love those small Stone Age flip up "dumb phones" that I use for what phones were designed to do : talk on. So, once again I made the upgrade. Lighter weight, same screen size, improved retina display, much faster – what's not to like? Well as I learned, not every upgrade is one I consider an improvement. The keyboard instead of crisp well lit white keys has a subdued gray background. My photo library instead of framed in a black background, which made the photos pop, is now in white. And many of the Apps I knew at a glance have changed their logo style, so I have to relearn what I could identify with my eyes half shut. I am a loyal Apple customer and appreciate improvements when they are just that, but if I had a voice in one of their company board meetings I would suggest some sage advice encapsulated in two well-worn phrases: "Leave well enough alone" "And if it ain't broke don't fix it."
When Steve Job's revolutionary Apple Company, the purveyors of technology married with architectural and graphic style, advertised their first "tablet" labeled the iPad, I jumped on the bandwagon for a pre-order. This was my idea of a great concept – more than just an ebook reader or a bigger version of the iPod for my music library, the iPad was a manageable size electronic whiz with almost all the capabilities of a computer. Email: yes, Internet browser: yes – and with a bonus of nearly 500,000 Apps in the first few years of production. When I got my first iPad hot off the production line it was a "bonding experience." With the 99 cents per song iTunes option my music library filled out melodically along with my reading library thanks to Amazon's Kindle App, which offers a bigger library than what Apple had to offer. I had more songs than I had time to listen to and more books than I could read even on a long vacation, and all this in a small light thin book format I could carry in my purse. Besides that, I had email capabilities, Internet access, a camera and video recorder and a device to Skype on and all on a decent size screen I could easily read – what else did I need? Of course there were drawbacks. The built in keyboard appeared to be a rude student who didn't listen to the teacher – moi. It disobediently made up its own words after I typed just a few letters, it put caps where I did not indicate and generally had a mind of its own, which was quite frustrating at first. But we were bonded after all and with so many positives, I could overlook the negatives. After a year I was back in a store with an authorized Apple outlet, and soon convinced by a salesper11

The objective is to fill the full 9x9 grid with digits so that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3x3 “sub-grids” that compose the main grid contains all of the digits from 1 to 9 – with no repeats within each row or column within the entire square. A partially completed grid is usually provided, which typically has a unique solution. See next weeks Limin’ Times issue for solution.
