motes visits to the island’s top attractions including Faulkner House Museum, the Anegada Rock Iguana Head Start Facility, the S. Vanessa Faulkner Botanical Garden, and much more. Ask Koren

Your personal E-therapist, is in the house!

Boyfriend Won’t Return Money Ask Koren Dear Koren, not want to ask around. I’m with my boyfriend for almost three years and we were planning to get married next August. I was excited until the other night. We live close to a particular place that I won’t name and I kicked something and we looked down and it was $200 folded up. Someone probably went into their wallet or pocket and it fell out. Where we were it wasn’t a lot of people so we could have asked who the owner was, but he said it was not in a wallet with any ID so we should keep it. This has really changed my thinking about this man. What should I do? –Questioning

I can tell you feel really strongly about it so just tell him what you would have done differently. I know the person who lost the money would be happy to have it back, so the golden rule works here…doing unto others what you would have done unto you. Here is a workable protocol to discuss with him; money found with identification should definitely be returned, no two ways about it. Money with no identification but in a place of business or restaurant should be mentioned to the owners so that if anyone asks they can be given your number and if they can identify the location, amount and currency, then it is likely theirs. Money found in a remote location or street is more difficult to return but still possible if one wants to contact the police or radio station or maybe that is the finder’s answered prayers. Money found with others in close proximity is tricky. Does he walk around and ask each individual if they lost money and sees who can identify it? If it is too late to find the owner now, perhaps you can donate the money to a worthy cause instead of keeping it. This situation provides a lesson for you to learn about each other and to discuss how to handle a situation where you would do things differently.

Dear Questioning, Honesty is still the best policy so I understand your concern. You have known your boyfriend for almost three years, so you think you know him well enough to maybe predict his behavior and you have certain expectations of him and he disappointed you. Your reaction is normal. People are different and even though you and him might have shared values of honesty and concern about others, sometimes even the best meaning person can make errors in judgment. While you might not agree with his reasoning, giving up on him because of one apparent flaw in his judgment seems a bit drastic. Almost three years of things going well and one thing and your mind has changed? Come on, he has not murdered anyone or hit someone or even stolen from anyone. He found the money, there was no way of identifying who it belonged to at the time and he did

The Rewrite With his boyish good looks and endearing persona, Hugh Grant has made his mark in a number of crowd favorites including Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill and Love Actually. His latest movie The Rewrite is yet another romantic comedy that puts his stammering charm to good use. Keith Michaels is an Oscar winning screenwriter on hard times. It’s been ten years since his last hit and he is finding it increasingly difficult to find work in Hollywood. His cynical and hardworking agent (Caroline Aaron), finally comes up with a job teaching screenwriting at Binghamton College in Upstate New York, both a continent and a world away from LA. Unhappy with the prospect of an unwanted career as a teacher (teaching, he believes, is for those who can’t do) and with words as his weapon of choice, Keith heads for the small and remote town of Binghamton as if he has been sentenced to a year in maximum security. Selecting the students in his class solely from their school profile photos on the Internet, he fills his class with only attractive females (accept for two nonthreatening nerdy boys) and launches an affair with one of the most attractive – a major “no no” within academic circles. At the first faculty get together, he also manages to offend much of the staff in the English Department, most notably the department chair Mary Weldon (Allison Janney of Juno fame), who is a Jane Austin scholar, and unfortunately for Keith, also on the ethics committee. Things go from bad to worst when on his first day of class Keith announces that the students should go home and work on their

screenplays and come back to class at the end of term; an ill-advised move that further alienates him with the department chair. Realizing that he is a hair’s breadth away from losing his position, Keith tries to butter up Weldon with Jane Austin gifts from Amazon, and befriends the school’s dean, Dr. Lerner (J.K. Simmons, also of Juno). Welling up with tears anytime his wife and four daughters are mentioned, Lerner is one of several delightfully quirky characters in the film. Among Keith’s students is Holly (Marisa Tomei), a single mom with two young daughters, putting herself through school by working multiple jobs. Attractive, thoughtful and a talented writer, she befriends Keith and begins his turnaround from a selfcentered jerk to someone who can see the world beyond his own universe. Directed by Marc Lawrence, who also directed Hugh Grant in Two Weeks Notice and Music and Lyrics, The Rewrite is about personal redemption, but it is also about the creative experience where words and word play take front and center stage. 11

Digicel NBA Jump Start winners off to New York Malachy Payne and D’Moi Hodge are getting an opportunity of a lifetime as Digicel NBA Jumpstart Elite Basketball Clinic winners—seeing NBA 2014-15 champions Golden State Warriors and the Brooklyn Nets play in New York next week. Payne and Hodge will be among eight players from six Digicel markets after winning spots during the September 26-28 camp in Trinidad that was run by NBA Coaches, P.J. Carlesimo, Tyrone “Muggsy” Bogues and Adonal Foyle. “This is motivation for the boys to believe that it is possible and it is meant to be a platform to jumpstart their dream,” Katasha Melville, Digicel BVI PR and Sponsorship Executive said. “They will be able to visit this NBA facility and have a first hand experience and we hope it will encourage them to aspire to know that it is possible that they can attain that level.” Payne and Hodge were among five BVI players attending the Trinidad camp, of the 40 who tried out in late August. “I was exposed to many things during the camp— defensive and offensive wise, how to be a better player and move forward in life,” Payne said. “The experience has been very good.” It was a fun experience for Hodge as well. “I was exposed to coaches, talk to them and they helped me realize that you can’t do everything and you have to learn as you go on,” he said. Coming up against players from Jamaica, Bermuda, Turks and Caicos Islands, Barbados and Antigua and Barbuda, Payne said he was looking forward to the challenge and showcasing his talent and what he could do against other players he didn’t know and how to play with them. Hodge said he knew everyone had talent and would do what they had to do. Limin’ Times Entertainment Guide

“I was kind of confident, played my heart out and put it in God’s hands,” Hodge said of the selection. “But I was surprised and confident.” Hodge said he was surprised, since everyone was as good as he is. “I didn’t know who was going to get picked or how they were going to get picked,” he stated. Both will attend the Dec 6th Warriors vs Nets game, tour the NBA offices, have scrimmages and visit an Adidas store. “I’m looking for a good game,” said Payne, a Warriors fan who lists Clay Thompson as his favorite player. “I know both teams are good so it will be interesting to watch the game.” Hodge, a Clippers fan and Jamal Crawford is his favorite player, said he doesn’t want it to be a blow out. “I want it to be a good down to the wire game,” he said of his first NBA experience. “I want to enjoy myself.” Payne, a point guard with Go Hard, said he’s taking everything learnt from the experience to move on. “I want to be where Clay Thompson is,” he said. Hodge, a West Gunners point guard coming off winning the MVP award in the Hon. Julian Frazer Save The Seed League, said it has been a great experience and hopes it will be an opportunity to get into college. 14
