Broke His Phone In Anger

Ask Koren

thing else. The best relationship happens when the other person wants to be with you, not when they feel forced or compelled. The first thing you can do is it to apologize to for damaging his phone and if you can afford to, offer to replace it. That is the decent and right thing to do. Second, make up your mind that you will not take any more pictures that if leaked, could cause damage to your reputation or peace of mind. Third, work on your anger issues immediately. Clearly, it is affecting your life negatively and whether you are with him or someone else, it will affect the relationship. According to you, you both have been through a lot together, so there might be a strong connection which will bring him back. Let him know if your anger is the only problem, you are willing to work on it. He may choose to come back or he may not, but try not to get your hopes too high. Sometimes as hard as it is, we have to go through experiences like this to learn some hard lessons about ourselves and we become better because of it.

Dear Koren, My boyfriend recently was talking about breaking up and I got really upset because I have been through thick and thin with him and in one of our bad arguments, I broke his phone and damaged his chip because he had intimate pictures of me that I was afraid he would show to others. Now he is saying it’s that attitude why he won’t give me a second chance although he was considering it. I really love this guy but I grow up around people who always arguing so its like sometimes I don’t know how to act peacefully. How do I get him back? –SL Dear SL, It’s pretty lousy of you to destroy someone’s property, but it’s also pretty brave of you to acknowledge that growing up in an argumentative environment affects your current behavior. The first step in improving ourselves is acknowledging that we have a problem. Your boyfriend was already planning to end the relationship before you destroyed his phone, so it sounds like he is just using that as an excuse now. If he wants to go and his mind is made up, there is nothing you can do to get him back. He will come back if he loves and forgives you or if being in the relationship brings some benefit to him, like happiness or some-

For Grace There have been many films and even TV series produced in the last few years focusing on high profile chefs and the demands to meet the public’s expectation in food artistry and taste, ambiance and service. Many hopefuls have closed their doors after not finding a special niche or unable to meet the standards required to win stars from the coveted Michelin Guide – the Academy Awards in the culinary world. For Grace is a documentary following the trail of one young chef, Curtis Duffy and his rise to notoriety in Chicago, as he seeks to design, build and staff what he hopes will be one of the finest dining establishments in the country. This feature length documentary by filmmakers Kevin Pang and Mark Helenowski took four years to make as they sought to bring a real backstory to what could have been just a few years in the evolution of a great chef. Thirty-something Chef Chris, is a good looking, clean cut, tightly wound man with a passion for food and a perfectionist when it comes to detail. He also happens to like motorcycles and working out. His nemesis and business partner Michael Muser, wears the expensive suits and ties, runs the “front of the house,” and is also his best friend and greatest supporter. Chris has made his way up the culinary ladder working under some of the finest chefs in Chicago having already garnered two coveted stars from the Michelin Guide, when he decides to open his own restaurant. The film starts with the daunting task of renovating and custom designing a space for his high-end restaurant. What he envisioned taking eight months drags into over a year with cost overruns and delays

as part of the saga, including the decision to purchase chairs at $1000 apiece. What would send most people into stress and depression, this “Cool Hand Luke” takes in his stride – a necessary temperament for surviving in this industry. What we don’t see too much of is the toll this takes on Chris’s personal life, including the dissolution of his marriage and separation from his two young daughters. What we do see is that every employee hired is forewarned about the hours required and the dedication needed to be a part of an award-winning restaurant at this level. What makes this film stand out is revealed in cutaway interviews and shots of Chris’s past from a rural town with a troubled family narrative. Far from a “silver spoon” background, Chris endured a terrific tragedy in his youth – and only the support and love from his eighth grade home economics teacher, Ruth Snider, who believed in his gift and skills, keeps him from what could’ve been a very different outcome. We see a young man with a painful past, an emotionally challenging present, and yet a single-minded goal for excellence in his craft. All the drama builds to the opening night at his restaurant and only then does one truly understand why the name, “Grace” resonates on a much deeper level than he intended. 13

We Live Where Most Vacation I am sure we have all heard the catch-phrase “I live where you vacation.” For BVI residents on most days, we go about our busy day to day lives and forget that someone, somewhere else is looking at a computer screen or a magazine thinking; “I wish I was there right now,” especially in those areas where this past winter has been particularly brutal. But the fact of it is, we do live in a paradise that some only dream one day to visit. One of the best parts of island living for me, is being able to enjoy fresh seafood whenever my heart desires. Most weekends, when I walk down on the docks close to my house, the docks are lined-up with people fishing. My husband loves fishing, so he is always out there throwing his line and I must say he is scenery and the pristine weather. It’s something

The objective is to fill the full 9x9 grid with digits so that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3x3 “subgrids” that compose the main grid contains all of the digits from 1 to 9 – with no repeats within each row or column within the entire square. A partially completed grid is usually provided, which typically has a unique solution. See next weeks Limin’ Times issue for solution.
