Cupcakes & Cocktails Chapter 7: Bethany

“I didn’t sleep with nobody man, as far as I’m concerned, the only man off limits is a married man and to my knowledge none I’ve tasted were married,” Beth told the girls. “So, you’re dignifying that as some kind of morals?” Sarah asked her. “Yup! I pride myself on not touching married men,” Beth replied. “Anyway, I got some gossip for you, some is about me and some is about my neighbour,” Beth told the ladies. “Somebody is either going to lick you down for talking their business or knock you out for being with their man,” Liz told Beth. “Oh well, we all got to go somehow,” Beth said. Both Liz and Sarah looked at Beth then each other and shook their heads. “She’s your friend!” they both said in unison. “So y’all know my holier than thou neighbour Ms. Patsy, that goes to church all week? Well guess what? She sleeping with the pastor!” Beth said. “I’ve been noticing that he comes by a lot more often, but I thought it was because she had some troubling times, but it has been months now. When he comes, I don’t see him leave until I caught him leaving when I was getting in through the morning,” she continued. When she finished talking, both Liz and Sarah’s mouths were on the floor. Ms. Patsy always told them they were going to hell for not coming to church often, and for living of the world. She always quoted the bible for them too, so to hear this was shocking. “Girl you sure it’s her house the Pastor came from?” Sarah asked. Limin’Times Entertainment Guide

“Girl yes, remember she is the house directly in front of me. Seeing that I had to get ready for work in a few hours, I didn’t park in my garage, and when I came around to the front door there, he was coming through her front door at 3:45am.” “Wow!” both Liz and Sarah said in unison. “Anyway, enough of that, I had a little rendezvous with a Spanish papi they call Carlos and it turns out he got a psychotic baby mother. The trick looked like she followed us to the motel and came banging on the door like the po-po talking about, “Carlos I know you in there with that uppity b*tch!” Beth said telling the girls about her most recent Monday night escapade. She continued, “I was already dressed, as you know I don’t sleep, playing couple with none of my feeds, so I swing open the door and there she is like she rolled out of bed with their kids at that hour”. “So what you did to her?” Liz asked. “Girl nothing, I wasn’t about to fight no female in front her kids plus he got up trying to take the kids inside from the night air. I left those two fools there arguing. Ain’t nobody got time for drama over no d*ck when there was more fish in the sea.” Beth said. “You seriously need to tread more careful; someone will get you for their man. Please tell me you are still being careful?” Sarah asked Beth. “Yes, I’m still on the birth control and I always use protection. I have a variety of condoms on hand at all times.” Beth responded. “Good show,” both Sarah and Liz told her. The ladies continued their date gossiping and mingling, unaware that …… 12

I have no idea why I clicked on this movie while trying to find something on Netflix to watch but I’m glad I did. I actually enjoyed the movie. As far as Tarzan goes, I watched the Disney version as a child, but was never a huge fan of the storyline. I remember seeing this movie advertised some years ago, but I never paid it any mind. Who would have thought that years later, I would see it and like it. It’s been some time since Tarzan/John (Alexander Skarsgard) left Africa to live in England with his wife Jane (Margot Robbie). With danger lurking on the horizon, Tarzan is lured back to the Congo by Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz), a treacherous envoy of King Leopold. Together, they plot to have Leon deliver Tarzan to the king, and receive diamonds in return for his deceit. Tarzan then returns to Congo with his wife and George (Samuel L. Jackson). They first visit a small village of old friends of the couple and mingle with and stay among the people. Their time is cut short as Leon invades the village through the night and manages to kidnap the strongest men along with Jane. Jane immediately becomes a pawn in Leon’s devious plot because he knows Tarzan would have to come and save her. To rescue his wife, Tarzan returns to the jungle and gathers some of his friends. As they travel 13

through the jungle to a route that would lead them to Jane quicker, they hitch a ride on a train travelling in their direction. They discover that the train is full of slaves. After fighting the soldiers on the train and rescuing the slaves, they manage to gain some knowledge of Leon’s operation and the real reason he is in the Congo. The train master also tells Tarzan where Leon’s camp is set up and what he (Tarzan) will meet at certain points. Tarzan puts up a fight with George telling him that for his safety, it would be wise to not accompany him but George insists he’s coming. After a few days as captive, Jane escapes from the boat and Leon and his men but agrees to go back to him because she doesn’t want him to hurt the captive gorillas. Once Leon reaches King Leopold, the king reveals to him why he wants him dead, only to find out what really happened on the said day. When Leon escapes with Jane once again, her husband realizes that he would need help from his friends to rescue her once and for all. Does Tarzan rescue Jane and is George able to keep up on the mission? Who is Leon really working for and does he get those diamonds? To find out, Legend of Tarzan can be streamed on Netflix. New Recipe ‘Burning’ McMaster Says Coming off his IAAF Diamond League 400m Hurdles debut in Oslo, Norway last Thursday, two-time defending champion Kyron McMaster has concluded that a new recipe he’s working on, is ‘burning up the pot.’ During last month’s outdoor debut in Guadeloupe, he was caught at the line and finished second in 49.37 seconds, the same time as the winner Bryon Robinson of the USA, who caught him. Last week, lined up behind hometown favorite Carsten Warholm on his home track, McMaster was third in a season’s best 49.12 seconds. Warholm, the 2017 IAAF World Champion, stormed to a personal best of 47.33 seconds, chopping his previous best from 47.64, a time that’s No 2 in the world this year. “I’m happy with my performance. That’s the first time I went into a race and the steps were kind of unorthodox for me,” McMaster noted. “I’m very proud of the stepping on the first 200m. For the overall race, I would give myself a B-, mainly because my body experienced something in the last 100m that I’ve never experienced in my whole professional or track and field career. My entire body shut down and that has never happened to me before.” McMaster said he’s curious to know the reason why his body shut down the way it did, which is being investigated. Overall though, he’s happy with the performance. He added that it’s a work in progress

as new things are being tried. “If you look over the race, it’s a lot of unorthodox stepping,” he said. “I can’t be upset or dwell on the past because I didn’t run the time I wanted to run. I am in good shape and have the recipe for greatness. It’s just that we keep burning up the pot every time we go into the kitchen. That’s all it is. We’re not getting the right chemical mix that we need right now and keep burning up the pot.” McMaster said he’s very excited for the next Diamond League race on June 30, where he’ll be facing the top runners in the NIKE sponsored event. “I’m trying out a new theory with the recipe in terms of how to cook up this masterpiece, with the recipe we’re trying to cook up,” McMaster said. McMaster will also be debuting in the Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru from August 6-11. He will be joined by Long Jumper Chantel Malone and Shot Putter Eldred Henry and Laser Sailor, Thad Lettsome. McMaster, Malone and Henry will compete in the IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar from September 27-October 6. This marks the first time in the territory’s history that two athletes have qualified for Worlds in field events and the third time that three athletes will be in action at Worlds. We’re looking forward to seeing how McMaster’s recipe turns out over the next series of races.
