This Week’s Feature Story
Dinner in White BVI Dinner in White BVI, scheduled for Saturday July 9th at 6pm, will be a fun, unique and interactive dining experience for food and wine lovers. A celebration of Love, Life and Friendship, this elegant and decorous event is the first of its kind to be held in the BVI. Dressed all in white, guests will meet at a secret location to be announced the morning of the event through text, WhatsApp and email blasts to ticketholders. This location will be set for a chic and intimate dinner in a public space. Sparklers, beautiful decor and lighting will make a magical atmosphere. After dining in a family style setting, guests can dance the night away with entertainment by Violinist Kyle Moses, Jazz sensation Jeremy Vanterpool and a special guest DJ. There will also be entertainment by belly dancers from the Isis Dance Studio in Puerto Rico. How does Dinner In White work? Once you’ve purchased a ticket, you will get to choose

from one of two selected participating restaurants: Fantasia by Giorgio’s or Brandywine Estate Restaurant. Each restaurant has put together three different menus that guests will be able to choose from. Once you’ve selected your restaurant and dinner options, the restaurant will prepare the meal and you will pick up a dinner basket on the day of the event and head straight to the event’s newly disclosed location. This year, the organisers of Dinner In White BVI will share part of the event’s proceeds with the newly formed BVI Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Foundation. There is a silent number of BVI residents who suffer from this devastating disease and the Dinner in White organizers are delighted to work with them to ensure the success of this new charity. Tickets are available by contacting 346-1486 or at Brandywine Estate Restaurant, Fantasia by Giorgio’s on Main Street or Italian Food & Wine in Pockwood Pond.

The Car that Ran Away my house, when out of the corner of my eye I glimpsed a flash of white, it was the darn car – gathering momentum and heading at speed towards my neighbors brand new fence and serene looking hammock in her landscaped garden! Groceries dropped, I hurtled towards the errant vehicle and for some reason thought as it’s a small car, I could just get behind it and stop it… oh no – it was going to run me over first! So with moments to spare, and dodging unchartered overgrown garden territory and large trees, I jumped into the drivers seat and applied the hand brake, which finally brought the car to a relief-inducing stop. After quietly looking around to see if anyone had seen the debacle (luckily I live in a quiet neighborhood) – I sheepishly started the engine and drove it back to its normal spot. A lucky escape, especially when in the morning, being able to survey the incident route, the car had been literally inches away from the neighbors fence and it had even navigated safely through an avenue of trees!
Anyone that knows me is aware that I don’t have the best track record, if you pardon the pun, when it comes to cars. Previous Island Life articles can attest to this and just recently, as I was driving home from work my car was hit by one of those huge shiny F150 type trucks that always make me flinch every time one careens past me on the Ridge Road, which given the topography of this island, and that particular road – is hair raising to say the least. Luckily no one was injured in the accident, but my car was badly damaged leaving it undriveable and me stranded. However, even after all the ups and downs, I never thought my car would ever nearly run me over. Until tonight… I’d headed out to get some groceries for dinner and parked in my usual spot when I got home. Now, normally it’s as automatic as an automatic for me to pop the car into park and apply the hand brake before getting out. That’s what you do right? However, for some reason on this occasion I jumped out of the car without doing either (my mind on dinner no doubt). I was about half way up the steps leading to Limin’Times Entertainment Gude

SPOTLIGHT
This Week’s Story by By Laura Thomas
OMG (Our Music Group) Moving in a Major Way and Suh! With two years under their belt, Our Music Group (OMG) is comprised of seasoned veterans to the music business. Some of the group’s members have worked on some of the biggest stages and with some of the biggest names in the business. So they are not new to the lifestyle of being a musician. The band members are Marcus “Young Blood” Mark who plays the keyboard, Mario Drigo on the drums; Elmore “Ricky” Connor on the drum machine; Adrian “Aplus” Burke, rhythm programmer and producer, Kharie “Brune” Fahie, bass guitar; Khadin “Panic” Fahie, vocalist; Jevaughn “JJ” Parsons, vocalist; Dante “Pascal” Wattley,” vocalist and Dirk “Dirky” Walters as engineer. Band member Ricky contacted Dante to help with the band knowing he had recently left Volume. At the time the band was named Caution Band. Dante suggested that the band needed a fresh new name and fresh new start. The members put their heads together and came up with the acronym OMG (Our Music Group). OMG believes to become a successful band you first have to have the love of music. If you Limin’Times Entertainment Gude
don’t have a love for music the band will never be successful. The fame and money will come after. The band recognizes that they are role models for the younger generation and strive to paint a positive image to the public. The music group also demands a level of respect when it comes to their music because they are ambassadors for the country. The band is currently working on the new material for the upcoming August festival. They also have a slow Zouke song slated to be released soon titled “That Body” sung by band member “JJ”. Singles out include Addicted which is basically about being addicted to the music and Major Way featuring Mullah Gwop. Our Music Group is a bunch of seasoned musicians, which came together to do it their way. With the level of music being portrayed, the band is like no other. In the group everyone is a leader and obviously ten heads are better than one; no group member opinion is left out, which makes the band a strong composed unit. OMG will be performing at Summer Splash 2016, which is slated for July 23rd, and August 13th at the V.I. We Heavy concert in Orlando, Florida. 12
Ask Koren Ask KorenHe
Your personal E-therapist, is in the house!
is too Feminine
Dear Koren, My concern is that I met a guy and he works out a lot and is health conscious. I also think he has a little bit of a feminine side. Do I need to be worried? –Wondering Dear Wondering, No, you do not need to be worried. Working out and being health conscious are good things and I think he should be admired for taking care of himself, many men are going this route. I don’t know what a bit of a feminine side means in this context because you did not describe his behavior, but if you are talking about traits that are typically seen in females, then that too could be okay in the right context. Women are always asking for men to be gentler, more sensitive, have more open conversation and to ignore the daily car washing to come watch a romantic comedy show with them. Even if it is a situation where his clothes match perfectly and he is always coordinated, he is a big groomer and his voice or gestures are very expressive, that still does not mean you should be worried. If this guy is gay, which I know is your concern, then your fear is that he will just be using you as a cover up. My advice is that you
not jump to conclusions but just appreciate him for who he is. Work on being friends before you jump into a relationship and enjoy your interactions instead of spending all your time with him looking for some sort of signs of “gay-ness”. People have a way of eventually revealing who they are. With a good friendship, he just might reveal to you if he has alternate interests. If he really turns out to be gay, then you can just say you have a good gay friend and you have nothing to lose. If he is not gay and a relationship blossoms, then you have a boyfriend who you can relate to on some level. Don’t waste your time playing detective, just be open and honest and encourage him to do the same and in time, all things will be revealed.
Send your questions to askkoren@live.com or follow us on twitter @korennorton and a response will be provided 13

Battling for OECS Supremacy Can St. Lucia repeat as OECS champions? Who will run the fastest times? How many records will fall? The answers will come during the 2nd OECS Track and Field Championships at the A. O. Shirley Grounds on Saturday and Sunday. A 3 p.m. opening ceremony followed by action at 4 p.m., will begin the two days of competition. Teams from Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts-Nevis, Montserrat, Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and host BVI, will be battling for the overall team title. Grenada will feature 2016 NCAA Decathlon Champion, Lindon Victor along with his brother Kurt Felix—the 2012 NCAA Decathlon champion— competing in individual events. Both have qualified for Rio with Victor ranked at No. 8 with 8446 points and Felix at No. 13 with 8302. Their lineup also includes Carifta Games Javelin Throw Record holder Anderson Peters—who broke 2012 Olympic champion Keshorn Walcott’s meet record. The women’s High Jump will showcase the St. Lucian pair of Jeanelle Schepper and Levern Spencer—both currently ranked among the top 15 jumpers in the world—with marks of 1.96 and 1.95m respectively. They will be joined by Antigua and Barbuda’s Priscilla Frederick who had a 1.91m best. The meet’s Most Outstanding Male Athlete Limin’Times Entertainment Gude
will walk off with the Joseph “Reds” Perreira Award, named in honor to the founder of the OECS Championships while the Female Athlete of the Meet will take home the Veda Bruno-Victor award, in honor of the longtime regional administrator. St. Kitts-Nevis 10.03/20.41 Olympic sprinter, Antoine Adams and his 4x100m Rio bound relay teammates, will lead their squad that also includes OECS Record holder Tameka, who has a 23.05 seconds 200m season’s best. Adams will find Antigua and Barbuda’s Daniel Bailey with a 10.09 season best and and his teammate Miguel Francis, who has the second fastest 200m time so far in 2016 of 19.88 seconds. Dominica’s Dillon Simon and the BVI’s Eldred Henry will do tango in the Shot Put, where the strong men have seasons bests of 19.18m and 19.39m respectively. Tahesia Harrigan-Scott—coming off a season’s best of 23.24 seconds in the 200m victory in Belgium and 11.39 seconds in the 100m and Ashley Kelly who has a 23.17 seconds 200m time this season, will lead the BVI sprint corps. Chantel Malone will lead the female field events charge in the Long Jump, after a 6.48m victory in California last weekend and has a 6.66m seasons best. Harrigan-Scott, Kelly, Malone and Karene King, will seek to improve on their 44.05 seconds time from April and dip under 44.00 for the first time against the Puerto Rican quartet of Cruz, Cancel, Morales and Rodriguez, who will seek to match their 43.55 seconds run in Rio last month. 14
