VI Crownicles is a new business that provides custom-made headpieces by a familiar face – Yadali Thomas. Yadali began to make headpieces as a result of her passion for fashion and creating art. Two years ago she created her first piece for a birthday photoshoot. “I got the idea from the elaborate costumes like fashion of the Met Gala,” she said. She also mentioned that celebrities with influence in entertainment would generally wear really elaborate headpieces to make a statement or send a message. “This really caught my attention

and I found it really interesting and decided that I wanted to make wearable art.” After debuting some of her work in photoshoots, she began to get questions about where she received her head pieces and decided to turn her talent into a business. Currently, VI Crownicles creates artistic headpieces, school bows, flower crowns and much more. Cupcakes & Cocktails
Chapter 10: What’s Done In The Dark It was date night for Liz and Michael. The couple had just arrived at their favorite BBQ joint and it was packed for a Thursday night. You would normally see a large crowd over the weekend. “Do you think there’s a school group here celebrating or something? I’ve never seen it so full during the week,” Liz asked Michael as they finally got seated. Before Michael could respond there were loud cheers coming from the back of the restaurant. When they turned to look, the couple saw the trophy on the middle of one table and a group of high school kids that looked like seniors appearing to be celebrating a match. From the height of the team, it was safe to say a school had just won a basketball tournament. “Well there goes your answer,” Michael said as the waiter approached to take their order. “Hi I’m Nicole and I’ll be your waitress for the night, have you guys made up your mind on what you’d like to have?” “Hi Nicole, yes! Can we have a combo plate with sides of corn, fries and coleslaw?” Michael asked the waitress. “Sure, anything else or that’s it?” Nicole asked. “Yes,” Michael answered her. “Okay, I’ll put in your food order and in the meantime, you guys can decide on drinks until I come back,” Nicole responded. Michael turn to Liz and said, “You know what you’re drinking? I’m thinking about getting a martini.” Limin’Times Entertainment Guide
“Well don’t ask what I want to drink now, you already ordered without asking what I wanted, cheaper you go ahead and request a drink for me too,” Liz shot back. “Don’t be so babe, we always get the same thing when we come, so I thought getting the combo dish, which we can share and save a few dollars, would be fine,” Michael said defensively. “You’re right, but I’m eating mostly ribs tonight, I have a craving for BBQ ribs, order me…” “Craving? Are you trying to tell me something Elizabeth?” Michael cut Liz off before she could even finish what she was saying. “Tell you what? Oh gosh no, don’t go there, when would that happen?” Liz said. “Well you know we sin a lot in the bedroom, so it’s possible,” Michael said laughing. The couple was laughing and talking while having their meal. The evening was going really well. “Excuse me as I go powder my nose,” Liz said. “Classic move, the chick goes to the restroom, when the bill comes,” Michael muttered. “Don’t even play me like that, do you want some money?” Liz retorted. “Look in my purse and pay the bill. I really have to pee before I burst my bladder,” she said while hurriedly leaving the table. The couple had just arrived home and was heading inside, but before Liz could make it to the door, Michael slammed her into the wall causing her to hit the back of her head and fall. Liz lost consciousness and woke up three days later in the hospital. 12
When It’s Too Hot So everyone has been complaining about the heat…the sun seems super hot, the breeze comes and goes and the fans can hardly stand up to the pressure. While the heat is not our friend right now, we cannot deny how useful it is to our lives… literally and figuratively. Here are some reminders of why sometimes we need to turn up the temperature on life: 1. Refined gold. As gold is refined in heat and the quality improves, so too challenges and pressure help us to become stronger and more resilient. If we didn’t have to “face the fire”, many of us would not know how much grit and inner strength we really possessed. 2. Toasted bread. Popping a slice of bread into a toaster exposes it to heat that leaves it a bit browner, a bit crisper and some even believe a bit healthier. Biting into that warm and homey food, reminds us that the simple things in life can have a big impact on our comfort and pleasure. 3. Energy. Our cars, boats and airplanes would not run without heat.
13
Imagine a world where we could not get to where we wanted to go when we wanted to go there; sounds horrible, doesn’t it? Even our body needs some form of heat to produce energy for our very survival. 4. Nature. I know there must be someone out there who loves the beauty of a rising sun or the peacefulness of a setting sun as much as I do. Why are our beaches a worldwide attraction and why do thousands spend big bucks to fly a thousand miles just to soak up the warmth of the Caribbean? Our plants and flowers need heat to maintain their lush beauty. 5. The bedroom. Do I need to say anything more here? None of us would deny that for sparks to fly we need the intense heat of attraction and excitement. When passion is ignited, it makes for an explosive and unforgettable experience. So, while we bemoan the intensity of the sun, let us not forget that the heat can be our friend.

Croal: ‘This Season Has Been Great’ Sprint sensation Jaleel Croal narrowly missed a NACAC U18 Championships Boys 200m bronze medal by 0.1 seconds on Sunday in Mexico in a photo finish, when he stopped the clock at 21.20 seconds— a personal best and the No 5 mark on the BVI All Time List. His previous best was 21.43. “I came off the curve in first place and when I realized that I was in front, I guess I started to panic — like I started to fight trying to reach to the line,” he reflected on Monday. “Then Mexico and Barbados came up on me. It was a very, very close finish at the end and I came in fourth. But I liked the race overall. It made me feel good. How close was the race? Second, third and fourth place times were 21.18, 21.19 and 21.20 seconds respectively. “Next time, I have to be relaxed — don’t panic or anything,” he said. The CARIFTA 200m champ, 16, was fifth in the 100m in a wind aided 10.50 seconds following a personal best 10.57 in the semis. “I had two personal bests and that’s a big thing for me, since my season was ending at that meet, so that was great,” he said. “Compared to CARIFTA, the races were closer and I liked that. There was more
competition. I think I liked that meet better than CARIFTA.” This season, Croal said he learnt there’s no time to relax, because everyone is trying to be No 1, and he has to go out and train and compete to be No 1 with them. He said he now has to improve his upper body strength which he needs and lacked this season. ‘I’m going to improve it for next season,” he stated. “Which means more 400s and everything else. Croal’s advice to those following in his footsteps is to believe in themselves as they can do anything because it’s possible. “To get to do that, you have to work very hard — nonstop,” he said. While everyone sees the finished product and fast times, they don’t see the work that goes into the process. Croal shared two of his most dreaded workouts. “I had one with 3x150s with 10 minutes break, that was hell. I really didn’t like it,” he pointed out. “There was another I had to do 100m, jog back, repeat and keep going and going until I reach 300m. That was very hard and had me thinking twice, but then again, I said, this what I have to do to get better. I was running at high intensity, but after a while, I got accustomed to them and learned to pace myself.” How does he sum up his 2019 season? “This season has been great,” he said. “And I’m looking forward for next season and next year to be even better.”
