Jeff White Florida native Jeff White of the Soul Taxi Band is a songwriter, surfer and a soul adventurer who is here in the BVI and will be performing at Myett’s, Cane Garden Bay on Monday and Tuesday. According to his bio, Jeff has been chasing a dream, traveling the world and sharing life, love and music with whomever crosses his path. He’s spent the last 15 years playing more than 2,500 shows across the Americas. Jeff is particularly proud to have shared the stage with legendary acts like The Wailers. He began his musical journey as a lyricist/vocalist in 1996 and has written well over a 100 songs. He was also the creator of Florida-based bands “The Burnin’ Smyrnans” (a sendup to hometown New Smyrna Beach) and “Soul Taxi.” Jeff’s passion for music both on and off stage have taken him across the United States, Canada,

Central America (where he now resides), South America and the Caribbean. He’s taking December to tour the Virgin Islands with shows set for St Thomas, St John, Water Island, and, of course, here in Tortola. After spending the last few years focusing on creating new material, he set and reached a goal of releasing three EP’s in one month: Sliver Lining, Fiya Soul, and Unplugged were all released earlier this year, and are available from iTunes. As a multi-instrumentalist, Jeff uses a Boss Loop station to record tracks on the fly and layer beats and grooves seamlessly to create multi-dimensional sound for his one-man shows. Citing musical influences like Bob Marley, Paul Simon and Steel Pulse, his acoustic-roots-soul style is sure to sound great alongside a Cane Garden Bay sunset.

Vol. 30, 36 / Dec 13 - Dec 19, 2018
Between the food, the time with family and the cheer of the season, I love Christmas. This year is my first time celebrating with a toddler in the house however. It turns out that my little man also loves Christmas, although for reasons of his own. You might think a child of just 14 months can have no idea about Christmas, but let me assure you, so far it’s his favorite time of year. Here’s why. Parties: Watching slightly bigger kids play is one of the great joys of my son’s life. At a Thanksgiving gathering, he spent about half the evening spellbound by the sight of a little girl jumping over the threshold of the house over and over again. She jumped in, he giggled. She jumped back out onto the porch, he giggled even more. The only thing that broke up this routine was when he tried to imitate her. With gatherings and celebrations so plentiful at this time of year, you can bet he’s getting his fill of baby partying. Potlucks: I have been blessed with a kid who, while he may not often enjoy sitting still for long enough to eat a meal, happens to love food. He even likes to try new foods, for which I am very thankful. If you’re ever at a potluck with him, however, you should guard your plate well because the child’s favorite food is whatever it is you happen to be eating at the moment. He will lunge for everything from a banana in your hand to a bone left casually on Limin’Times Entertainment Guide

a plate. No low-lying dish is safe from his grabbers. Opening Gifts: Not that my kid is materialistic or even understands the concept of gifts yet, it’s just that he likes to open things in general. Doors, coffee cans, cupboards, boxes, you name it, he wants to open it. And also close it. Again and again and again. When a mom from his daycare prepared adorable tiny stockings for all the babies, he was over the moon. Every day since we have been emptying and refilling the stocking, to his great delight. Decorations: You know that amazed look babies get while checking out ceiling fans? That’s my kid everywhere we go now! Garlands, lights, baubles, pinwheels and all the rest that festoon so many of the stores, homes and open spaces we happen to pass draw his eye like magnets. Of course, he also wants to touch everything so I have to keep him moving, but it’s fun to watch his little face fill with wonder. We don’t have space for a tree at our little place, which is just as well because I’m sure between the toddler and the cat, it wouldn’t stay upright very long. Still, I’m glad he gets to enjoy the traditional décor while we’re out and about. I’m sure as he grows up, my little one will enjoy different aspects of the holidays, but for now, it’s nice to enjoy the season through his innocent perspective.

Lights, Camera, Action; Part 2 Chapter 21: Desicions Made
Kevin Before I even left their house, I called Bella and told her I was coming back into town and I wanted to talk with her. She was a real beauty sitting across from me in the support group meeting. I took her so she could see what I’ve been up to, and that what I was about to tell her was truly how I felt. After the meeting, we took a stroll down to the park and sat on one of the benches eating our icecream and talking. I revealed to her how I’d been going to the meetings to understand her better and to help me really process the humanity of transgender people. I told her how heartbroken I was that she didn’t trust me enough to tell me the truth about her. I confessed that I was still in love with her, and that I would never hurt her. I hoped she could see that I was educating myself out of love for her. Truth was, I wanted her in my life. I wanted a second chance. This time, I wanted to start slow, get to know each other, and learn to be honest and open about everything. I told her about my parents; how they had constantly asked for her while we were apart and wanted to see her again, and that they gave their blessing for my plan for a future with Pierre I had started the conversation with my parents Bella. Bella was worried that she can’t carry children, feeling ready to forge ahead regardless of their approval. After I explained my next move, I was shocked but I told her not to worry about that now. When the times comes, we will cross that bridge. to learn they support me. I was to the point where I had enough. I was DONE. It was time for me to be the man I really was. I always felt that her money and connections made her think she was above me. In the beginning, there was some love, but really, I married her because I knew it could get me where I wanted to be in life. I never wanted her for the long term. Going through our divorce proceedings, I told my lawyer to give her whatever she wanted so the process would be over quickly. She got the house and custody of the kids. I had to pay child support and instead of alimony she requested that I donate to a children’s charity of her choice. It was her way of rubbing my face in the fact that she has her own money and didn’t need mine. What puzzles me the most is why, if she knew about my infidelities for so long, she never called me out before this. And now she has me second guessing my player card because all this time I thought I was getting away with it, boom! She already knew. I wonder if she’s had another man all this time. Time will tell, but right now I only want to get away from her.

In the spirit of the holiday season, okay who am I kidding, I been watching Christmas movies on Netflix since September but shhhh, don’t tell nobody. Just to summarize what A Christmas Prince is about; Amber (Rose Mclver) a young aspiring journalist from New York was sent abroad to get the scoop on the dashing Prince Richard (Ben Lamb) who’s posed to be king. Amber went undercover as a tutor for the Princes Emily (Honor Kneafsey) and got tangled in some royal mess and ends up falling in love with the Richard. Rose and Ben have return to relive their characters in A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding. Now a year later after Amber helped Richard secure the crown, they are set to be married. It begins with Amber and her dad Rudy (John Guerrasio) heads to the castle for the wedding. Mrs. Averill (Sarah Douglas) is now the head of marketing and it’s a bit of something that’s is hard to chew. A stickler for tradition, she and Amber clashes many times throughout the film. If you think Mrs. Averill is bad, wait until you see Sahil (Raj Bajay), the 13
wedding planner in action. I know traditions are important but he is way to over the top to plan any ones wedding if you ask me. Apart from wedding stuff, the queen to be had a bit of a hurdle adjusting to royal ways and is soon second guessing her is she is cut out to be a queen. Up to a point in the story she still writes on her blog and spends time with her sister-inlaw to be Princess Emily. Not everything is a bed of roses for the royals as Aldovia is in a financial crises and the King must find a way to take his people out of depression. Richards Mother, Queen Helena (Alice Kraige) sends out a distress to Lord Leopold (Simon Dutton) who was once Richard’s father great advisor to return to Aldovia and help them find financial freedom. A decision she’ll soon regret. The investigation leads Amber and her two best friends who also came in for her wedding, help her investigate into the Aldovia files in hope of finding anything that will lead them to finding where the finances went wrong. Will Amber go though with marrying Kind Richard? A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding can now be streamed on Netflix. Vol. 30, 36 / Dec 13 - Dec 19, 2018
Reflections on Project Podium’s 5-year Plan During my tenure as BVI Athletics Association President, Dec 2008—16, one of my aims was to see our athletes having the success that St. Kitts-Nevis and Grenada enjoyed in international competitions. After examining our record in regional and international competition and comparing with our regional counterparts, I realized that we lagged behind in our development. At the start of my second stint as president, Dec 2012—16, I presented the “Project Podium” concept. The vision, was simply to win at least one medal in a major competition where we have never won a medal before, between 2013—2018. Not everyone bought into the vision. The advent of the Youth Olympic Games triggered the first steps in Project Podium—identifying all 10-14 athletes in clubs in 2012, who would meet the IAAF Youth criteria as 16-17 year old’s in upcoming competitions between 2015-2018. Those athletes were pooled in all the respective competitions through the senior levels, with the medal goal in a major competition during the 5-year span. Some key observations: Our regional counterparts’ athletes who had won Carifta Games medals became medalists in such competitions as the IAAF World Youth Championship; IAAF Jr. Championships;
Limin’Times Entertainment Guide
Pan Am Jr. Championships and Commonwealth Youth Games and some senior competitions. With 2018 coming to a close, what has been the results of the Project Podium vision? Six medals won in five different competitions—including five individual medalists—where we hadn’t earned hardware before. 2013—The team of Taylor Hill, Nelda Huggins, Jonel Lacey and Tarika “Tinkerbell” Moses with Lakeisha “Mimi” Warner who ran in the semifinals, won an IAAF World Youth Championships Medley Relay silver. 2015—Chantel Malone, NACAC Sr. Championships Long Jump silver. 2016—Kyron McMaster, IAAF World Jr. Championships 400m Hurdles bronze medal. 2017—Beyonce DeFreitas and Djimon Gumbs, Commonwealth Youth Games silver and bronze medals in the 200m and Discus Throw events respectively. 2018—Kyron McMaster, the XXI Commonwealth Games 400m Hurdles gold medal. Had other sports administrators in 2012 considered and embraced the concept which I was willing to share, the development of sports across the board since then, could be quite different today.

How to win: The object is to insert numbers in the boxes to satisfy only one condition: each row, column and 3x3 box must contain the digits 1 through 9 exactly once. It’s harder than it sounds! 15
