In this Christmas movie, a ski resort begins to buzz when a celebrity chef becomes the new head chef. Clara isn’t excited like most of her coworkers about her new boss, but as their paths constantly cross, she realizes they may have much more in common than they first thought. The movie opens with the restaurant crew watching what appears to be celebrity chef Shane (Scott Cavalheiro) winning a competition and they are equally excited for his win. Can you imagine their excitement when they hear he is coming to work among them? Clara (Kaitlyn Leeb) is the first to meet Shane when he checks into the resort and they run into each other – or should I say her mishap caught his attention. Soon, her friend Bonnie (Kristen Kurnik) can’t seem to hide her excitement to meet Shane. Word quickly gets out that Shane is now working at the resort and it prompts fans to go there just to see him. One group of ladies is lucky enough to get to meet him and later on, to eat breakfast with him. Hugh Peters, the owner of the resort has a business idea and needs Clara’s help in sealing the deal. The owners of the place that he is interest-

ed in are Frank and Jackie Haven. They are friendly and also are great friends of Clara’s and eventually begin to love Shane. Shane and Clara go on a date and start spending time with each other. Things are going fine until Clara lets him in on a secret and his reaction causes her to get mad at him. Confiding in her mom Lydia (Vivica A. Fox), Christmas Eve becomes a blur for Clara. Her mom encourages her to go where she wants to be, but it is interrupted when she gets a call from her boss asking her to deliver some documents for him. Before heading to her boss’ office, she meets up with her friend Bonnie and encourages Clara to give her and Shane a try. She also tells Clara that she is not engaged as the couple goes with Clara to retrieve the documents. Meanwhile, Shane is with the Havens and he finds out the answer to a truth he is seeking. Does Clara get the documents delivered in time and did she ever speak to Shane again? What was Hugh up to and what was Shane seeking? Christmas With a View can be streamed on Netflix.

Gathering inspiration after hosting her daughter’s Christening party and her first birthday celebration in 2012, Jerilee Hopkins launched The Party Boutique in August of 2012. A native of Virgin Gorda, Jerilee recalls pulling out all the stops with nine mascot characters parading at the Jeffrey Caines arena in Virgin Gorda during the halftime of a Summer Jam game held that year. The Party Boutique has since grown in leaps and bounds and now provides, event planning, décor services, graphic design, mascot rentals, business services, tutus and newly introduced in 2019 for BVI culture week – hair bows and bow ties.
Jerilee told Limin’ Times that the Party Boutique caters for both children and adult birthday parties, weddings, baby showers, graduations, seasonal events such as grand openings, Easter egg Hunts, Mother’s and Father’s Day, Christmas and Valentine’s Day just to name a few. The have also catered for intimate events including the wedding of Jerilee’s own mother where she served as the wedding planner taking care of each and every element - right down to the dress. She has also been invited to speak at various public schools as a speaker. The Party Boutique is also active in giving back to the community, including special appearances in mascot character costumes for several years during Reading is Fun Week on both Tortola and Virgin Gorda. “My passion to be unique and creative is the energy behind The Party Boutique,” Jerilee explained to Limin’ Times. “I feel the power from focusing on what excites me and then the results are just breathtaking, even exceeding my customers’ expectations,” she told us

while adding that no detail is too small and no task is too big as The Party Boutique aims to create memories as stated in their tagline “Creating Memories is a Priceless Gift”. However, Jerilee cautioned that event planning and the execution of an event does have its share of frustration and stress sometimes, including last minute changes requested by customers and persons who are unsure if they want to proceed with the event at the last minute after preparations had already been made. While Jerilee was quick to add that she also takes on some last minute events once they do not conflict with other bookings, she always encourages her customers to contact her at least one month in advance or 3 weeks ahead of events as planning ahead is something that nearly everyone would agree is important, advantageous, and allows her to think a few steps ahead to ensure every detail is on point. 6

Devious Minds Chapter 7
After a few weeks of pondering what she’d been hearing forever, Diamond got up with major plans for her Saturday. Passing her sisters in the kitchen with a mere morning greeting, she was soon out the door. Before she walked out of her apartment complex though, she made sure to call her parents and let them know she was fine and would be unreachable for the day and texted the gang. She told them that she would see them at the end of the day. The gang didn’t take it in any way, since Diamond was accustomed to finding a café to draw new designs in peace. Today was not that Saturday. After a twenty-minute walk, she walked into a black door and ask for Mrs. Brown. “Hi, I’m Mrs. Melany Brown, but you can call me Melany, I love when my clients feel comfortable with me. You’re Diamond, my 10AM I presume?” “Hi, yes I am,” Diamond replied to the beautiful melanated woman standing in front of her. Once they entered Melany’s office, she told Limin’Times Entertainment Guide
Diamond to make herself comfortable. “So, tell me, what can I do for you today Diamond?” Melany asked. “Well you see, I have so many doubts about many things and I don’t know how to maneuver through them, can you help me?” Diamond enquired. Diamond began to tell Melany what she did for a living and explained that although she was a designer, she had no desire to be a fashionista, she simply wanted to design and sell clothing. She told Melany about how she was perceived because of her attire and said all she really wanted was to be respected by her peers. After listening to her, Melany realized that there was a root to all that she was hearing and she encouraged Diamond to dig deep and reveal her demon. Once the session was over, Diamond left her psychiatrist’s office feeling a lot better than she went in. She went across the street for some lunch then headed on to the next thing on her agenda. By the time she executed everything on her list, it was well into the night. It was around 9pm when she called her sisters Cont. -> 12
and told them she was coming home and asked if they needed anything from the outside. They needed nothing, but told her they were about to order pizza and said if she was hungry they could include her. After dinner the sisters headed to their own spaces as they had promised their parents that they would attend church service the next day. ************ Slapping her alarm as it disturbed her sleep, Diamond rolled out of bed and stepped into her shower to get ready to head out with her sisters. Looking over herself in the mirror one more time before heading out her room, she

wondered if this was something she would be able to maintain. Once she came out and her sisters noticed her, their mouths hit the floor. To them they were looking at their sister but they were still very doubtful. When they caught themselves, they began to scream and hug her. “Omg! WTF! When did you? How did you?” the girls were so excited at the transformation they were seeing that they could barely get any words out. “Ya’ll are crazy, let’s go before mom and dad kill us for being late,” Diamond told her sisters.

Nagarit Ensures Half Marathon Title Stays Home Long gone are the days when distance runners Dale Abrahamson, Tuluchi Farrington or Freddy Gibbs, could be seen running around the island for the sheer joy. Our current focus is solely on the glamor of sprinting and distance young runners who might be interested aren’t encouraged. Over the last 34 years, long distance running has slowly gained traction. However, while there are 3.1 and 6.2 mile races, outside of the annual Mourant HLSCC College Classic Series that began in 1996, there’s a significant fall off in natives participating in races over 2 miles. In 2006, Simon Cook, a Deloitte employee told me it’s time to have a race longer than 6.2 miles in the territory and he ushered the birth of the BVI Sunrise Half Marathon, a race from Jolly Roger in West End with a loop around Road Town to finish at the Tortola Sports Club, for 13.1 miles. Runners not only challenged themselves, but had to contend with the wind. In 2011, Zebalon McLean—a former mid distance runner who’s still competing—ran 1 hour 34 minutes and 45 seconds to break Marc Downing’s 1:35.52 from 2006, for a new BVI national record in the Half Marathon. Dawn Peters ran 1:54.54 in the inaugural 2006 race, for the BVI women’s national record. This year saw the debut of former Long/Triple Jumper Claudius Rymer, in a time of 1:52.09. On Saturday, Ras Alula Nagarit—who already holds the BVI Marathon record with a time of 2 hours
36 minutes and 54 seconds—created history, when he debuted in the 14th Deloitte-Ogier BVI Sunrise Half Marathon, to claim his second national record. Nagarit, competing in the territory for the first time since 2008, became the BVI’s first winner when he led from start to finish and stopped the clock at 1 hour 17 minutes and 44 seconds—marking the fourth fastest race in event history. In the process he chopped 17 minutes off Zebalon McLean’s 2011 mark of 1:34.45, for a new BVI Half Marathon national record. “It was a good race, but the course is not really a good course,” Nagarit said. “Too many curves, you had to stop, cars in the road. I could have run faster, but there was nobody there to push. So, in order to get a faster time, you need competition to push and you need the course to have less curves. So for the future, they can improve the course to have the race much faster.” Race Director Kay Reddy said this race doubled the size of previous editions. “It’s the first time a BVI runner has taken the trophy home,” Reddy said. “We’ve given the trophy away to St. Martin, to St. Thomas, to St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda, Trinidad and Tobago and New Zealand, and this time the trophy stays at home which is really nice.”
