For Dads Father’s Day is a celebration honouring fathers. It’s celebrated on various days around the world, most common is the third Sunday of June. On Sunday, don’t forget to celebrate the dads in your life as they are special in their own unique way. Below is a poem dedicated to all fathers from us here at Limin’ Times; Grateful To Have You As My Dad From the earliest that I remember, From when I was first aware, Through all the years come hail or shine, You’ve always showed you care. You not only taught me the everyday things, Like washing my hands and tying a shoe, But also to deal with what life brings; You’ve shaped my values and world view. You’ve been there whenever I needed, You’ve helped in many a way, Whether fixing something broken, Or knowing just what to say. I always know I can count on you, That’s a matter of fact. For that countless other things, I love you to the moon and back. Most of all, I’m grateful, And my heart is truly glad, That today and every single day, I have you as my Dad. Due to her love for creating and conceptualizing projects in the areas of beauty, photography, film production, writing and research, Adrianna Soverall became a make-up artist under the alias ‘Mz. Sovi’. Although she is based in Virgin Gorda, she’s also mobile. Her love for makeup artistry stemmed from the women in her family who were always glamourous. While growing up and being around them, she was able to observe their beauty routines, but it was not until her adolescent years and with the help of her friends, that she was introduced to lip-gloss and shaping her eyebrows. After Mz. Sovi graduated high school, she worked at a spa as a Receptionist. An Aesthetician named Natasha who she lovingly calls ‘Cio Cio’ bought her her first compact pressed powder and introduced her to lash extensions. She continued practicing on herself and eventually started applying make-up to her friends and family for all occasions, including pageants, graduations, photo-shoots, etc. In 2015, Mz. Sovi became certified by Gwynnis Mosby Makeup Academy and is currently venturing into retail cosmetics, with her new business Makeup Vibez. Limin’Times Entertainment Guide
Ladies, Mz. Sovi advises you to always have setting spray as your must-have makeup item. “With setting spray, because of our hot and humid climates, setting spray helps to [ensure] your makeup lasts the duration of time you would like to keep it on. It helps especially for persons with oily or combination skin”. As far as looks, she enjoys bold looks using glitter, paints or some type of embellishments like jewels or feathers and loves Festival and Halloween as these times of the year, she can really push her skills and let her imagination run free. Ms. Sovi’s inspirations include Nikki Tutorials, Moshoodat, Yami Angelina, Beauty by Melissa, Patrick Star and much more. She considers her makeup look classic as she loves a good lash, defined eyebrows, and bold red lips. As a makeup artist, Ms. Sovi feels practicing cleanliness is very important. Making a client brakeout is not an option and as an artist a level of cleanliness sets the professional apart from an amateur. She stays up to date on beauty trends via social media, she follows various makeup artists, attends trade shows and takes classes to sharpen her skills.

Cupcakes & Cocktails Chapter 6: Miss Me
Liz had just pulled into her home driveway. After a long day at work, she couldn’t wait to kick up her feet in front of the TV. After she got into her PJs, she grabbed her ice-cream, a spoon and headed straight to the sitting room. About an hour into her show there was a knock on her door. Since she wasn’t expecting anyone she automatically assumed it was Michael and ignored the door but the knock became constant, so she got up and answered the door. It was the delivery guy with the wrong address. As soon as she sat down there was another knock. Liz got so mad that someone was disturbing her relaxing time that she swung the door open hard with a screwed-up face so they could see she was not in the mood, only to see this time it was Michael. “If I ignore him, he might just keep knocking or calling, let me just hear him out now,” Liz thought to herself. “What do you want Satan?” Liz asked Michael. “So I’m Satan now? That’s what you think of me?” Michael asked Liz as if the question had hurt his feelings. “I called um as I see them, now tell me what do you want?” Liz asked him again. “I came to talk to you and work things out,’’ Michael responded. “Can I please come in?” he continued. Liz wanted to tell him no, but he was just going to be a pain in her ass later down so she moved to the side and let him in. “Talk,” Liz said. “I want to come back, I miss you,” Michael told her. Limin’Times Entertainment Guide
“Why? So you can continue to control me and beat on me? I’m not your child Michael and I had enough of your shit. I don’t need you for anything. I won’t put up with ill treatment from you anymore,” Liz said, finally letting Michael know she was tired of his shit. “By the way, where did you stay for the last few days?” she continued. “I slept on a friend’s couch,’’ he responded. “What friend? I know who you hang out with and they all have more than one room homes, you won’t have to sleep on no couch Michael,” Liz told him. “This is no friend you know Liz,” he replied. “You know what, get out. You have successfully ruined my mood and I’m going to bed for work tomorrow,” a visually upset Liz told him. Not wanting to upset her too much, Michael got up to leave. He decided to give her a few more days to calm down because he would be moving back in soon. He didn’t know who or what was getting into Elizabeth but it was soon going to stop because she was his property and no one else was going to have her until he was done with her. Friday, 5:30pm somewhere. “Ladies, I was so looking forward to today, I really need to unwind after the week I had,” Liz told her friends as she sat down in her usual spot when they met for their annual month end link up. “I know what you mean and boy do I got some gossip for y’all heffas,” Beth said. “Oh here we go again, whose man did you sleep with again Bethany?” Sarah asked as the group burst out in laughter. 12
When The Going Gets Tough

able to go with the flow sometimes because life happens. 5. Make a plan to fix the situation or situations. A lot of us never realize how creative we are until we had to figure out a way to get back up after we had been knocked down. Many people have started new businesses after losing a job or got the courage to try a new area of work they always wanted to try. 6. Take care of yourself. That’s the time when you don’t feel like exercising or feel like eating 3 whole packs of Oreos or staying in bed all day. However, neglecting self care will only make things worse because you are likely to regret the binging. Try instead to get enough rest, take walks if that is calming and eat healthy foods that are known to boost your mood.

Have you ever had a week whereby everything seems to be going wrong at the same time? Your car tire gets damaged, your kitchen flooded, your child gets sick and you wonder if this is a week from hell? We all will experience periods like those and as challenging as it is, as the saying goes, “when the going gets tough, the tough get going”. So pause and cry or vent for a while and then get right back up. Here are 6 ways to cope when the going gets tough. 1. Contact your support system. Call or visit that one friend who you know will laugh or cry with you and who will not let you sink into a dark hole. The one who will help you make sense of things and roll up their sleeves to help you take the water out of the kitchen bucket by bucket. 2. Figure out what lessons you can learn from the mess. The lessons learned help us to be more cautious going forward or better planners, or they teach us who or what we should not trust. Thus, we can avoid certain mistakes in the future because of our experiences today. 3. Find something to be grateful for. It’s always helpful and a good pick-me-upper to be able to say “at least I still have my health”, or “at least I still have life”. Being thankful for your job, clean clothes or friends who make you laugh can diminish the impact of the current stressors. 4. Accept that you don’t have control over everything. This is hard because we like being in control and the sense of helplessness when circumstances happen can really be upsetting. However, if we were to let go of some expectations that life has to go a certain way and be more accepting, then we can be

A Thrilling U10 Soccer Match Finish Athletes, no matter their age, do not like the bitter taste of losing, especially when they play their hearts out. Tears flowed openly at the end of Sunday’s final between the M&M Academy U10 Soccer team and their St. Croix counterparts, Adys Youth Soccer at the A. O. Shirley Grounds, where M&M lost to the visitors, 1-0 on the seventh penalty kick attempt as Adriel Abraham scored, after a 0-0 draw. M&M Academy, was founded on April 7, 2018 by Morris Mark, who coordinated the training of the players and organized the weekend tournament that also attracted St. Thomas teams. M&M were making their tournament debut, after their U12 counterparts played in St. Thomas earlier in the year, where they were victorious. They didn’t let their more experienced St. Croix counterparts off the hook at any time during the highly competitive game, matching them in every department. “This is what you talk about development in the process where the kids drive themselves to the end of the game,” said Mark who had to compose himself after the loss. “My boys, they played their hearts out and everyone was so impressed at how they played as a unit. The guys came out, took the instructions and they played to the end. It ended up in penalty kicks and that’s the way the game goes sometimes. Kudos to them. They worked hard for it to be in the fiLimin’Times Entertainment Guide
nal but, the way the ball bounces, you don’t win every time.” As it was their tournament debut, Mark said he thinks they’ll learn that you have to work really hard, and even when you work really hard, you have to go past whatever it is. “They’ll know they have to train hard and come back next year to defend what they have to defend,” he said. Darel “Max” Gussie thanked Mark for organizing the tournament and said they want to do more for the children in different islands. His organization has been involved in developing young soccer players for the last 20 years. “The youths need this exposure so they can go to the next extent,” he said. “With this game, it’s like your heartbeat was in your hands even though you’re not playing, but it went down to the very nitty gritty with penalties and it was just a joy the way it went. Everybody enjoyed the game— you have a winner and a loser—but it was a game well played.” Mark said there was a high level and high quality understanding of the game. “It wasn’t just about playing, but understanding how the game should be played, in the true essence of the word understanding and playing at a very high level,” he noted. “These guys are just out there working their butts off.”
