Rattlesnake So yeah! I saw the trailer and thought to myself, okay Netflix, I see you; making some nice movies to keep subscribers’ memberships current. Picture this, Sunday evening, ready to relax, you kick your feet up, press play and twenty minutes into the film, boom! You realize it’s pure stupidness. Nevertheless, you kept watching just because you already started and you want to see how much stupider it can get. Like I always tell our readers, everyone’s taste is different so I leave you to watch and judge according to your taste. Rattlesnake is about a single mother who accepts the help of a mysterious woman and ends up making an unthinkable deal with the devil to repay the stranger who saved her daughter’s life. Katrina (Carmen Ejogo), a single mother, was on her way to a new town when she got a flat tire and pulled over to fix it. Luckily for her, she paid attention as a young girl when her father was teaching her, because getting a flat in a deserted area, would leave anyone in distress. While she was changing her tire, her daughter Clara (Apollonia Pratt), exited the vehicle and went to the other side of the road to play in the open area. When Katrina heard her daughter’s scream, she ran to her side and realized that she had been bitten Limin’Times Entertainment Guide
by a rattlesnake that was slithering away. Now, don’t ask me where this trailer home appeared from, but if you paid attention earlier, it was not always there. I even rewound the movie to see if I had missed it, but I really didn’t. Katrina ran to the home and asked a woman (Debriana Mansini) for help. She told her she could help her and explained that there was a hospital nearby. Katrina left her daughter there and went for the vehicle (pause, there ain’t no way I was leaving my child with a stranger – whether she was helping her or not). While at the hospital, The Suite (Bruce Davis) came and visited Katrina and told her it’s time to pay. To prove to her that he was not joking and time was running out, the snake bite reappeared on Clara’s leg and she turned purple. Frantic and not sure about her next move, Katrina, three messengers; the truck driver (Rio Alexander, a boy (Spencer Mabrey) and the Priest (John Kemble) appeared to her and warned her that she was running out of time. Her next move almost cost her everything. Did Katrina pay her debt and save her daughter’s life for good? Rattlesnake can be streamed on Netflix. 4

Devious Minds Chapter 2
Theresa graduated at the top of her class, both at high school and college. After landing her dream job at A&A Marketing, she really thought that things were going to look up for her. She thought that it would give her the confidence she needed to break out of her shell and climb the social ladder, because she’d been known as an outcast for so long. At work she made great money, but her coworkers didn’t want to be seen with her outside the office due to her lack of sex appeal and her awkwardness. They weren’t aware of her upbringing, but at twenty-five, one would think an effort would have already been made to upgrade your basic look, especially given the industry she worked in. When Theresa was nine, her mother walked out on her and her father. As a single father, he made it his life’s mission to provide all she needed and some of what she wanted. Although he was a workaholic, Theresa’s father made sure he spent as much time with her as he could. He worked hard because her mother had left them for a guy with more money. He never wanted Theresa to fall in that path, so he worked hard so that she could go to college and make her own money. She was forbidden to date while in high school, although it didn’t matter to Limin’Times Entertainment Guide
her. She kept to herself and shut down any chance of attention. Even though she had a few friends, they all seemed to be in the same predicament - they were not popular. Theresa thought that when she got to college, it would change her. No dad to tell her anything and she could’ve done anything she wanted. Due to all those years of being sheltered, her rebirth was not an easy task. Now a beautiful young woman with the potential of being classified as one of the most beautiful women, if only she would just put some work in and not always look like she just rolled out of bed and got dressed in the first thing that came to her hand. At work, her ideas were great. Her department always ranked at the top because of her. She came up with the ideas and her coworkers would be the face that delivered it to the client. On various occasions, they even tried to give her makeovers but she just never stuck to it and they gave up. Many days she thought to herself, if she would change her look, she could be happier. She was very grateful to the triplets and Patrick although they argued everyday, they were all she had. 12
Getting Back On Top When Things Seem Overwhelming Many of us have had a crazy week with too much to do and not enough time to do it. It’s coming on to the end of the week and the feeling of stress can overwhelm and threaten to overpower us and make us feel like running away. The problem with running, is that sometimes you find yourself in the same situation, even in a different place because it’s just the way life is. The good news is that we don’t have to take it lying down. Life doesn’t have to just happen to us. We can be proactive in turning things around and pulling out our punching gloves and fighting back. Here are 5 ways to overpower that overwhelming feeling when life feels like too much. 1. Schedule down time on evenings or weekends. You do have some control over your life, don’t you? Then as busy as you are, pencil in some time either in the middle of the day for a pause and breather, even if it’s just 10 minutes to take a walk or call your mom or just do nothing. In the evenings and weekends, schedule a longer chunk of time to do things that relax you. 2. Decide what is a priority for you. Everyone will try to make you think that what they need is the priority, but you have to decide what your priorities are. Focus on what is most important or time sensitive and tackle those things first. If three friends are asking you out on the same day and 3 coworkers need different things 13
from you, instead of throwing your hands in the air, just pause, give it some thought and then decide which item is a priority in your view. 3. Learn to say no. Hanging off of the previous point, you might have to say “no” to some persons, because you just can’t do everything. Say no to some invitations and maybe offer to contribute something else besides your time. With a reasonable explanation, most people will understand. 4. Ask for help. Don’t always resolve to be a superwoman or superman. It’s okay to ask for help sometimes – from asking your spouse to do the laundry this weekend, to asking your parents to babysit, to asking your coworker to prepare her documents by Thursday and not always at 2pm on Friday, etc. Getting some help can take a few things off your plate and make life a little easier. 5. Change your mindset. Accept that you do not have to hold the whole world in your hands. I know we all like feeling important, but it’s time we get over ourselves and stop thinking things would crash if we are not in total control. If you crashed, believe me, the world will go on. So, adopt a mindset of doing the best you can and speaking up when it’s too much and knowing that taking care of yourself is also important. .................................................................. Rector At The Helm Of USC Defense Although he sat out Friday’s game against the Colorado Buffaloes in Boulder Colorado because of an injury, it didn’t slow University of Southern California Trojans defensive captain Christian Rector from being involved in the action. Rector, no. 89 and a USC Sr. defensive lineman, was born in the BVI and moved to Southern California as an infant. While visible on Folsom Field — from participating in the coin toss to getting the game started to rallying his troupes on the sidelines — he contributed to his team’s 35-31 victory, even though he wasn’t involved in any play. How he got involved in football “My mom (Allison Rector) always kept me busy in sports, kept me active and by the time I reached high school, it was a way for me to make friends and I figured it was something I was good at,” he explained after Friday’s game. “I thought I was going to be a basketball player at first, but my coach told me ‘you’re not tall enough’, because everyone kept growing while I stayed at 6’4”, so it [football] was something I was good at and stuck with it.” Rector, a 2018 AP second All PAC 12 selection and a Pro Football Focus all PAC 12 second team pick with 48 total tackles, nine for losses, 4.5 sacks and two deflections — got the nod as defensive captain before the season began. “I had to earn it and being with this team for
so long and seeing the guys come before me, it came upon me and it just came naturally,” he said. “I’ve been told that I’m a leader. I love leading these guys out as a senior — as an older guy — it just came naturally.” While not in the game, Rector was visible on the sidelines working with the defenders. “They (Colorado) had us in the first half, I’m not going to lie but in the second half, we came through. We saw (Quarterback Steven) Montez went down, but the way we battled in the second half was huge. I knew they had a chance. My defense came up big time with stops. Our coaches asked our receivers to be special and they were special tonight and Michael Pitman was special.” He was last in the territory in 2017 and said he loves returning to the BVI to visit family. “I wasn’t there when I was little, but having been there recently and seeing my roots, it means a lot to me,” he said. Playing for USC, he said that he had heard the phrase ‘you’re a Trojan for life’ but didn’t get it until he joined the team. “Now I know. It’s a brotherhood, a bond — something you can’t explain,” he pointed out, noting that it had been a dream come through to play for USC. “Growing up watching all the SC greats — Reggie Bush, all the quarterbacks, all the great defensive linesmen, it’s been a blessing.”
