Navy Families at China Lake Return Home after July 4th Quakes Almost all of the 192 military families living in Lincoln Military Housing at the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake (NAWCL) have returned home after two major earthquakes hit the area the morning of July 4 (6.4), and the afternoon of July 5 (7.1). The homecoming was the result of a massive team effort between Lincoln Military Housing maintenance and service staff, the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, and teams of subcontractors who worked around the clock to thoroughly inspect and make necessary repairs to individual homes and the community at large. A base evacuation order was lifted on July 17. “Thank you to the maintenance workers from China Lake and the ones that are here helping from Lemoore. They have been working long hours and just keep going. I know it’s their job,
but they are working outside their normal hours and still doing it with a friendly attitude. The team was at my house until almost 9:00 Monday night and almost 8:00 last night and we were not their last house for the day. Please let them know we do appreciate them!” said Jennifer Jephart, a NAWSCL housing resident. According to multiple postings on the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service and reporting by Petty Officer 3rd Class Jeffrey Southerland, all of the NAWSCL’s 192 Public-Private Venture (PPV) housing units have been assessed for damages following the base evacuation order issued by Rear Adm. Bette Bolivar, Commander, Navy Region Southwest, on July 6. During the assessments, Navy Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) structural engineers, as well as Lincoln Military Housing (LMH) structural engineers and maintenance crews conducted multiple walkthroughs. After assessing homes, NAVFAC and LMH began coordination to quickly start making repairs. Over 180 Sailors and their families were evacuated from base housing. The base prioritized repairs to return the residents in a safe and timely manner.
“I was impressed by how quickly housing fixed up the damaged homes and returned families back,” said Yeoman 2nd Class Mark Perez, a NAWSCL housing resident. “We were back in our house quickly.”
“We still have a lot of work to do but I’m glad we were able to get these families back home as soon as it was safe and once homes were restored to our high standards. It was certainly a team effort but this demonstrates Lincoln’s commitment to going the extra mile to ensure residents get the service and quality they deserve. We also encourage residents to contact us immediately with any issues,” - Phillip Rizzo, Vice President of Operations, Lincoln Military Housing

Lincoln Charities Gives Back Since 2008, Lincoln has made it its mission to surround its employees and their families with a strong support system. Through the generosity of fellow employees, vendors, and business partners, we’ve established a strong foundation as well as a pot of resources for our beloved staff. If you feel personally called to donate, we just ask for $1 per paycheck, and the form to sign up is attached. Couldn’t be easier, right? All those dollars add up and enable us to provide support to our Lincoln Family in times of tragedy. Our goal is to have 75% of support through payroll from our Lincoln Family. Of over 5,300 associates, 49% of us are donating through payroll. There is no pressure, but if you are interested in helping, donating through your paycheck is a great way of doing that! So far this year, we’ve helped three Lincoln families and given back nearly $24K. We’re thankful for our charity and for you! PS: Have you seen our video? Mission Moments “Stroller strides completely changed my life. April 2017 my husband was gone training and I was dealing with a whole lot of emotions being a new mama and staying at home. I felt so alone. I decided to go to a little business fair that Lincoln has every year and I stumbled upon Melissa. She had the biggest smile on her face and talked to me about stroller strides and the Fit4Mom community and all it has to offer. I went to my first class that following Tuesday. I never stopped going since! The community of other fellow military spouses and mamas, mamas to be, is so amazing! Everyone gets it, everyone is going through something right along with you. It was so perfect for my son too. The songs, the interaction with other kiddos and building bonds with them. The sweetest most amazing instructors who are always so patient and loving with your kids and you. Stroller strides has been there and gotten me through so much in my life and has become such a big part of my life. It’s gotten me through my husbands trainings away from home, our first deployment, it’s given my son and I a strong bond and it’s our little thing we get to do together. Through loss, another pregnancy, fellow stride mamas watching my son while I went into labor, setting up a meal train and bringing us a meal everyday and loving on us. It has literally been my saving grace! I love how come as you are it is and how sweet and welcoming every mama and instructor is.

So to the mama who is reading this, come as you are, come get loved on and come let your babies get loved on. Join this community and get that time in for yourself. It’s going to completely change your life in the best way possible.” (Diana Q, Camp Pendleton) “I joined stroller strides because they met right outside my front door so I didn’t really have an excuse not to! On top of being a workout where I’m able to bring my kids it is such an amazing community of Mama’s who are so supportive of one another! Living a happy healthy lifestyle is really important to me and I’m very grateful Lincoln provides this service to us residents!” (Randi C, Camp Pendleton)
“Thank you, Miss Dawn! We really enjoyed it with 2 of our 3 kids! Our oldest was so sad to miss it! They thought Mickey & Minnie were the best part. We really appreciate all the many things you guys do for the neighborhood! I’m sure more often you hear more of the bad than the good from residents, but we appreciate you all!” - Blessings, The Crow family
