claverley farm logs approval is testament that our logs are of the highest quality. We sell them in either Bulk Bags or loose Loads (2.5 bags worth) and deliver them up to a 12mile radius of our farm. The majority of our wood is locally soured and is from well managed woodlands.
Claverley Farm Logs is a family business based on the outskirts of the village of Claverley. Brothers Chris and Tim ensure the logs they sell are well seasoned and barn stored ready for you to burn. All of our Barn stored logs are 20% or less moisture and are a mix of oak, ash and Birch.
We look forward to seeing new and existing customers throughout this winter ahead. Please do telephone us for more information or go onto our website where you will see the full range of products that we sell which you can also purchase online.
The Kiln dried logs are less than 18% moisture and are oak, ash and birch. Both types are ideal as it is important to burn dry wood so not to damage your burner or chimney. Our logs are also approved by the Woodsure ‘Ready to Burn’ initiative. This

CHRISTMAS IS COMING www.jennifersuzanne.co.uk 07977330011
jennifer@jennifersuzanne.co.uk @jennifersuzanneinteriors GARLANDS
Christmas is coming, and what better way to get into the Christmas spirit but to prepare your home with lots of beautiful Christmas décor. I’ve listed my favourite Christmas interior styling tips and trends for 2021! Enjoy x
I like to make my own entrance door, staircase and mantle garlands. Again using a collection of foliage and adding string lights wrapped around the greenery looks really festive and for a bit of luxury add in gold or silver by spray painting your foliage and adding a beautiful velvet ribbon to tie in your Christmas colour theme.
WREATHS I am a huge fan of creating a warm welcome this holiday season, starting with your front door décor so first on the list is a beautiful Christmas wreath.
My personal favourite colours for this season are olive greens, gold, silver, and shades of raspberry, plum tones a contemporary twist on the classic red. Also if you prefer a more natural style this year, Christmas 2021 colour trends will be more softer and natural, neutral tones inspired by connecting your home with the outdoors.
A wreath can not only set the tone, it’s often the first thing your guest will see when they come and visit or passersby will enjoy as the first impressions of your home. A trend for 2021 will be DIY Christmas décor so why not think about creating your own wreaths and garlands this year, it’s a great way to get outside and collect cuttings of gorgeous natural foliage from leafy green ivy, holly and adding fallen pine cones, dried oranges and feathers.
CHRISTMAS TREE Next setting the scene for rest of your interior décor is ‘the Christmas tree’. Firstly are you a faux or real tree fan, personally I have the mix 8
Our Home wires and the not so attractive metal legs of a faux tree, is to add a tree skirt. It will give your festive theme a cohesive look and there are many styles available from wicker tree skirts to felt and faux fur styles. It’s definitely worth the investment as it can be used every year if looked after.
of the 2 I like a real Christmas tree in my living room and a faux tree in the kitchen. I love to decorate the trees in completely different styles, one very sophisticated and elegant and then the other tree can be bolder colour’s and most importantly I have a bit of fun! You can be as creative as you like when it comes to decorating your tree but my 5 top tip for making it look more professional are:
5. BALANCE Start from the top and work down to bottom, this way you can go back and check the tree and spot gaps. I buy my decorations in sets of 3, 6 or 12 and add in a Z shape , you can hang large baubles closer to the centre and small ones towards the end of the tree branch. Your most precious delicate glass baubles can be hung higher on the tree to protect them from being damaged. The White company recommends 80 baubles for a 7.5 ft tree.
1.BASE Start with a good base, whether it is real or faux making sure the naked tree is looking its best, we don’t want a wonky lopsided tree so spend some time making sure the tree is upright and the branches look even. If it’s a faux tree you can shape the branches by fluffing it and making the branches look more natural and if it’s a real tree you can trim and tidy until your happy with the shape.
2. THEME Choose a colour theme and stick with decorations that work with that theme for example John Lewis will have a selection of themed decoration and are great for inspiration. I have found that most retail companies colour code the decorations making it much easier to shop.
3. LIGHTS Start with the lights first always! It’s so much more difficult to do this after you have added decorations like bauble and garlands. I purchased an amazing set of vertical LED lights 2 years ago and they make my tree sparkle at night, so definitely worth investing in a set and LED will continue to be a trend this year, but it's actually becoming a popular accessory for all year round, extending its use beyond just the festive season.
TABLE DECOR A key trend for Christmas table wear in 2021 will see white on white, keeping the style contemporary paired back elegance with fine bone china, beautiful linens and vintageinspired candlesticks, teamed with tactile cushions, greenery and a sparkle wreath.
4. TREE SKIRTS A great tip for hiding away your unsightly light 9

10
Our Home I often look at companies like ‘The White Company’ and 'Cox and Cox' for inspirational ideas.
Let's not forget scents in the home - Christmas is the perfect time to add in a beautiful fragrant candle that fills your home with the scent of Christmas and there are so many options of candles that create scents that are Christmas themed. Look out for scent with Cinnamon, mulled wine, Christmas pine tree, gingerbread and roast chestnuts. Or if it’s DIY scent the easiest way to make one is to create a pomander ball simply by poking cloves into fresh oranges. Simple but effective and they also make great decorations.
Or if you prefer a more nostalgic traditional style, a big 2021 Christmas trend for your table ware will be dressing tables with vintage ornaments, old crockery and passed down tablecloths not only evokes the best of memories of the past but is also environmentally friendly. A great place to source is to shop around vintage shows or find local crafters that sell unique decorations that are hand made or if you're feeling creative you can make your from recycled materials. This year I am excited to add to my tree some beautiful hand blown glass angel decorations from a locally run family business in Redditch, Lighthouse Glass you can also find them online at lightighthouseglass.co.uk

Garden Rooms Making more room in your life A carpenter for 30 years, I’ve been designing and creating garden rooms since 2004 for customers looking to create home offices or additional space for the family.
It’s important to me that each and every customer is 100 per cent happy and when their journey with Mez Design is complete, I can walk away feeling a great sense of pride. But don’t just take my word for it!
This year has seen more people that ever investing in their homes and recognising the added value a garden room can bring. With a number of companies to choose from, what makes Mez Design stand out is that you get a craftsman and not a salesman and my love of great design and attention to detail is reflected in the high quality of the build.
“Paul and the team did a great job and their craftsmanship and expertise was clear to see all the way through. It was so good to see people who care so much in what they do and for the customer. We are over the moon with our garden and if you are considering a garden room please speak to Paul before you decide. We made a great choice.” Brian Morgan, Stourton “Truly delighted with our garden room built for me by Paul and his team. Knowledgeable, informative and helpful from initial concept and design to building complete, Paul made the process simple, hassle free and quick. Highly recommend you getting in touch with Mez Design if you’re thinking about having one built.” Steve Cooper, Kinver
Customers always say - “it’s good to meet a person passionate about his work.” And from start to finish I’m there every step of the way, from talking through ideas, to creating the garden room and overseeing the internal finishes.

WEATHERPROOF YOUR SKIN FOR WINTER
Lisa Evans Reid Clinical Director at Reflect
In the winter months, you may start noticing a difference in your skin. Winter tends to signify harsher weather and tougher conditions for your skin. Lower temperatures and low humidity levels result in dry air that draws moisture away from the skin. Harsh winter winds and dry indoor heat can worsen the problem and lead to dry, dull and sometimes even cracked skin. Conditions such as eczema or psoriasis may also flare up during these cold months.
sweeping motion is much more effective. 3. CHOOSE YOUR WINTER MOISTURISER WISELY. Look for one that contains lipids to help maintain the strength of the skin's protective barrier, which holds moisture and protects the skin from damage. Lipids aid the skin's natural repair process. Alternatively, if your skin is very dry, you might try adding an emollient moisturiser that seals in moisture, followed by another moisturiser on top. On your face, choose serums over heavy moisturisers even in winter, but be more generous in your application, and if you are not sure which serums to choose, I always advise antioxidants and hyaluronic acid based which will protect you from the harsh elements and keep you hydrated, which are perfect for skin health.
While additional moisturising products can help, there is plenty more you can do to support your skin. Here are some tips to help you nurture your skin in the winter months. 1. AVOID LONG, HOT SHOWERS AND BATHS. While a nice soak in a hot bath can feel great in the winter, it can strip your skin of essential oils causing dryness and for your skin to become flaky, so keep your water lukewarm!
4. HUMIDIFY. Dry air can pull the moisture from your skin. Room humidifiers can be very beneficial. However, it's essential to clean the unit and change the water regularly to reduce mould and fungi.
2. CLEANSE THE SKIN ON YOUR FACE BUT DON'T OVERDO IT. Too much cleansing removes the skin's natural moisturisers. Once a day is fine, preferably in the evening. Use a Micellar in the morning to freshen the skin but not strip it down. Don't shy away from exfoliating your face or your body. It will help reduce flaky skin and stimulate circulation but choose an exfoliating product that's not harsh or heavily perfumed. Look for natural ingredients that will also lock the moisturiser in after exfoliating, and never "scrub" your skin. It's a word I detest as scrubbing at your skin will inflame it. Gentle circular, massage type movements with the whole hand are ideal and far kinder. On the face be extra careful; using the pads of your fingers in a
5. DON'T FORGET THE SUNSCREEN. SPF 30 to 50 isn't just for the summer months. Winter sun, combined with glare from snow, can seriously damage your skin. Apply sunscreen to your face and hands (if they're exposed) about 30 minutes before you go outside. Reapply if you stay outside for longer periods of time. 6. DITCH THE TANNING BEDS. Overexposure to UV rays in sunlight can lead to premature ageing. However, when skin is exposed to sunlight or UV-B rays, it enables our body to make vitamin D that converts it into a 28
Our Health hormone often referred to as activated vitamin D or calcitriol. It can be more difficult to get the sun exposure needed during the winter months, and many people think a tanning bed can provide the vitamin D they lack during dark, short, cold days. But in fact, the damage a tanning bed can do to your skin far outweighs any temporary boost. Both ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation cause cell damage that can lead to skin cancer.
well. But avoid them if you suffer from face or body acne as they will exasperate the condition. 8. AVOID EXTREME COLD. Cold temperatures can cause skin disorders or frostbite in some people. See a doctor immediately if you develop colour changes in your hands or feet accompanied by pain or ulceration. 10. OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MIND. When your skin is wrapped up warm for winter, you are less likely to notice changes in it! It's essential to examine your skin regularly and note any new moles or growths and any changes in existing ones. Lesions that have changed, itch, bleed, or don't heal are also alarm signals. Even if you've carefully practiced sun safety all summer, it's vital to continue being vigilant about your skin in winter. Self-exams can help you identify potential skin cancers early.
7.CHOOSE A VITAMIN D SUPPLEMENT Taking vitamin supplements can ensure that you get the recommended amounts of vitamin D all year round. 8. PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE WIND. Cover your face and use a petroleum-based lip balm. Skin protectants that include petroleum and creams with ceramides are effective as

How Hypnotherapy Could Help You
Louise Squires
HPD, DSFH, MNCH (Reg.) AfSFH (Reg.), MHS (Reg.)
Having suffered with anxiety in the past, working in high pressure sales roles, whilst managing the demands of two young children. I understand how stress can impact every aspect of our lives, leading to weight gain, panic attacks, insomnia and negative self-talk.
I work with clients with anxiety, depression, weight management, phobias, sleep problems, confidence issues, imposter syndrome and many other areas. I help my clients to identify and work with their inner skills and resources, to help them to realise their potential and ability to make positive changes.
As a solution focused hypnotherapist, I help people to make significant, positive changes in their lives in a short period of time. I help my clients focus on what they want to achieve rather than on their problems. Sometimes clients feel a certain way, but they don’t know the reason why, or they don’t want to talk about why they feel the way they do.
I offer a free initial consultation if you would like to find out more about how hypnotherapy could help you, please get in touch. Appointments are available at my clinics in Bromsgrove and Quinton, or I offer home visits, if required.
Are you feeling stressed or anxious? Do you wish you could find a better way to cope?

Nick and Royston As life returns back to some sort of normality Royston Blythe four times Winners of The British Hair Awards and currently `Midland Hairdresser of the Year `can now add more trophies to their cabinet. Great news for the midlands to be competing with the very best hairdressers in the industry and winning great accolades for our region.
L’Oréal Colour Trophy 2021 The Loreal colour trophy is the world`s longest running Hairdressing competition and in 2021 the Colour Trophy is celebrating it 65th Year. From its humble beginnings in Tottenham Court Road in 1954, by the sixties it had travelled through the regions uncovering talent from across the UK. After a difficult 18 months, it has been incredible for the industry to get back to what they do best in creating stunning looks and the team at Royston Blythe couldn`t wait to show off their talent. `Competitions are a great motivator for the team. We have always encouraged our team to have dreams and we help them achieve these with developing their skills and talents. There are so many hairdressers out there, but consistent training and education is what set us and salons like us apart from them. We need to invest in our future hairdressers, to encourage school leavers that Hairdressing is a serious career to maintain salons high standards. We fear that in 10 years, there will be a real shortage of Hairdressers. The Colour Trophy recognises these talents and what a great way for clients to know they are having the very best stylist and colour technician in their area` says Nick Malenko. 38
Our Hair & Beauty
The Wolverhampton Team – Joe and Terri. `Taking part in such a renowned colour competition has really given us something to strive for! Over the last year hair has gone from being a luxury to a necessity! It has shown everyone how much the art of hairdressing can mean to so many of us both hairdresser and client` Joe explained. `My passion for the art of Men`s hair is always growing! I love how men`s hair continually evolves but still shows elements from old school traditional styles. We wanted to showcase that Men`s hair can be both commercial and competition worthy`.
The Shrewsbury Team- Jade and Antony The Winners of Northwest Region L’Oréal Colour Trophy. `Taking part in the colour trophy really allows us to showcase our skills, express our true creativity and forecast our predictions for upcoming trends`. said Antony.

CHESTNUT AND SQUASH RISOTTO WITH FIGS AND WALNUT THIS RECIPE SERVES 6
EQUIPMENT:
This makes a beautiful starter for Christmas Day or even served as a side dish with Roast duck, goose or turkey.
Heavy based pan Knife Chopping board Measuring jug
INGREDIENTS:
METHOD:
150g of cooked chestnuts 300g small diced butternut squash 3 figs topped and tailed then sliced into thin wedges 300g of arborio rice 3 garlic cloves 2 banana shallots peeled and sliced Olive oil A small bunch of flat leaf parsley stalks removed and leaves roughly chopped 1 litre of chicken or veg stock 6 crushed walnut halves 6 tsp of grated parmesan or nutritional yeast flakes to garnish at the end
Soften the shallots and garlic on a low heat for about 15 minutes, add in the small diced squash and add half a litre of stock. Simmer this for another 15 minutes and then add the rice. Keep stirring adding the stock bit by bit until all the stock is absorbed and the rice is cooked through with no chalky bits. Add a little more stock or water if still a little chalky. Once cooked roughly chop the cooked chestnuts and stir through. Add half of the crushed walnuts, chopped parsley and sliced figs with some parmesan or yeast and stir through then use the other half to garnish and finish with yeast flakes or parmesan. Serve with a Chardonnay or Champagne. 44

STOURBRIDGE RUGBY CLUB November 5th is the Family Bonfire and Fireworks night and the Christmas Corporate Lunch is booked for Friday December 3rd.
Autumn arrives and there has been lots going on at Stourton Park. At the end of September we hosted our much postponed Corporate Lunch in the vast marquee for over 1,000 guests. It was back in May 2019 that this event was last held and due to the pandemic had to be rescheduled three times. We were privileged to have Sir Ian McGeechan OBE and Jonathan Agnew MBE as our lead speakers and the well- known “ Antiques Road Show “ expert Philip Serrell as our auctioneer.
As ever all our club rooms are available for external bookings. We have a range of rooms to suit and an extensive range of menus to suit every occasion. All enquiries please to rugby@stourbridgrugby.com or phone on 01384395000.
October 23rd was the date for our ex-players lunch that always brings out tales of yore and reminders of exploits that should have remained “ on tour” in seasons long past. On October 29th our Ladies team, “ The Panthers”, played their inaugural Friday night game under floodlights against Stafford. This was a first for the club and we all look forward to these becoming a regular highlight in the club diary. The Panthers will be playing Telford Hornets on Sunday November 7th and Trinity Guild on November 21st so please come down and cheer them on. 52

visitors are welcome to view a selection of the state rooms and the changing of the guard ceremony takes place at 13.30 hours every day.
Founded in 1000AD and established as a strategic trading place less than half a century later, Oslo emerged as the Norwegian capital during the rule of Haakon V, King of Norway in the 14th century. Today, Oslo is the hub of Norwegian trade, a leading city for the Council of Europe and the heart of the European Commission’s intercultural cities project. Displays include a wide range of exhibits including Norwegian folk dress, folk art, textiles, crafts, weapons, musical instruments and old toys. View the many examples of daily life dating back to the 16th century and the collection of artefacts, photographs, records and documents. Learn about Norway’s Viking past at the nearby Viking Ship Museum, and view the Gokstad ship, which was built at the height of the Viking period in around 850. The ideal place to stay, and centrally located on Holbergsgate, the Radisson Blue Scandinavia Hotel hits the spot. The property is within walking distance to excellent public transport links and the city’s major attractions including the Oslo fjord.
Popular attractions include the Royal Palace, dating back to 1849. This neo-classical style property features a stuccoed brick façade and 173 ornate rooms. SKODA OCTAVIA SE L ESTATE Externally the Octavia has not changed a great deal, it looks perhaps a little bit more upmarket and friendly, with its LED headlamps and LED rear lamps. Skoda has always had a reputation of being a workhorse in giving value for money.
If you are in the market place for a vehicle with copious amount of space, then stop looking now and visit the Skoda garage and check out the Skoda Estate car, writes Bob Hickman. There is a huge amount of space for adults whether you sit in the front or the back and the load carrying capacity has to be seen to be experienced, in fact if you put a blow up bed in and you could sleep comfortably in the back of the car, it is so big.
The interior plastic is softer to the touch, I liked the suede on the dashboard, the 2-spoke multi functional steering wheel looked extremely smart. The downside is I found it to be very complicated, perhaps because I am not a technophobe but for me an hour with the handbook was necessary to try and find out what the little buttons did on the steering wheel.
Whilst it is a large vehicle, I found it to be easy to manoeuvre and park and as that well known designer at Jaguar told me many years ago, “ The only way you should know you are driving an estate car is when you look over your shoulder” and it certainly proved to be the case with the Skoda estate car.
For once rear passengers have not been overlooked, in the front there are lots of 60
Our Motoring wonderful Satellite Navigation system with a 10” touchscreen, safety’s not been overlooked with a driver knee airbag, in addition to an awful lot of other air bags. To assist with a vehicle of this size there are front and rear parking sensors.
handy cubbyholes and pockets for storing the necessary odds and ends that you carry and I quite like the sunglass holders, in the rear of the vehicle there are generous pockets on the back of the seats and there is a good size container on both doors, in fact a water bottle will actually fit.
The performance of the vehicle was always of a reassuring and able companion, the maximum speed is quoted at 138mph and the 0-60 gallop for a vehicle of this size is a commendable 8.8 seconds. A combined fuel figure is given in the region of 54mpg, in my ownership period with the Skoda my computer told me I had achieved 46 mpg.
My particular test car came equipped with a 2-litre TDi 150PS engine and this was driving a 7-speed infamous VAG DSG gearbox which for those who have experienced it is an absolute delight. You put it into drive and it seems to sense every single situation and opportunity and never failed or let me down.
The on the road price of the Skoda Octavia SE L. Estate is given as £29,975.
Standard equipment on all SE L models is very extensive, 17” alloy wheels, 8-speaker sound system, adaptive cruise control, a

RETIREMENT AT 55…… A DISTANT DREAM
Siobhan Record Our Lifestyle’s Financial Expert
Some of us will be planning to retire at age 55 (the earlier the better heh?) however HM treasury have recently issued draft legislation to increase the Normal Minimum Pension Age (NMPA), the earliest age that a pension saver can access their pension savings without penalty. The increase from 55 to 57, is proposed to take effect from 6th April 2028 and could adversely impact those that are intending to access their pension benefits before age 57.
• The Government have stated that they will provide further advice on the proposed transitional arrangements in due course.
Who is affected?
• Care should be taken if you transfer your individual pension after 5 April 2023 as it will result in a ringfence of the transferred funds complete with a retention of the right to access those benefits at the earlier age and no further contributions or transfers can be made to those ringfenced assets.
• There will be rules that protect members of schemes who, as at 5th April 2023 had an unqualified right to access benefits at an age less than 57. • A window is created for individuals to join a scheme that offers protected retirement age before 5th April 2023 – does your scheme offer this?
• Savers born before 6 April 1971 should be unaffected as they will reach 55 by April 2026 and age 57 before April 2028. • Savers born on or after 6 April 1973 will be able to access their pension savings at age 57.
Do you need to review your arrangements sooner rather than later?
• Savers born after 6 April 1971, but before 6 April 1973, will reach the current NMPA on their 55th birthday and will have access to their benefits until 6 April 2028, at which point they will seemingly not have access until their 57th birthday – possibly an unwelcome surprise!

TALBOTS LAW APPOINTS NEW CEO TO DEVELOP 5-YEAR EXPANSION PLAN One of the Midlands leading independent law firms has appointed a new CEO to help it capitalise on a record year of performance. Talbots Law, which employs more than 280 people across its six offices in the Black Country and Worcestershire, has named Dave Hodgetts as its new Chief Executive Officer. The experienced Commercial Director and qualified accountant joins after a strong 25-year career with Taylor Wimpey and E.ON, with one of his first tasks being to put in place a significant 5-year growth plan that will involve consistent organic growth, the opening of new offices and the potential for future acquisitions.
Mary & Dave “Everything is in place; the outstanding people we employ, the passion to look after the interests of our clients and the desire to continuously be better. We just need the longer-term strategy in place that takes the company into new geographic areas, capitalises on national services more and achieves expansion through a blend of organic growth and complementary acquisitions.”
He will look to build on the company’s core values of trust, innovation and delivering expert legal advice in a way that clients understand, an approach that has seen annual fees grow by 26% during a pandemic to reach £16m by the end of 2021. “This is a very exciting time to be joining Talbots, a law firm that dates back more than 200 years and one that boasts an excellent reputation,” explained Dave, who, outside of work, enjoys spending time with his family, travelling and football.
Talbots Law, which has offices in Codsall, Dudley, Halesowen, Kidderminster, Stourbridge and Wolverhampton, has recruited an additional 50 staff over the last twelve months, with another 30 positions to fill between now and the end of the year.
“We have emerged from the pandemic in a very strong position, with growth across all of our core areas of law, including residential property, trusts and estates, dispute resolution, commercial, family and criminal defence.”
These range from administrative roles and trainee solicitors to experienced residential property experts and Director level appointments.
He continued: “My task is to use the operational and commercial experience gained working for two PLCs to develop a 5-year plan that will build on Talbots’ strong position in the region, whilst naturally staying true to our core values.
