Tickets may be paid for by cash, credit card or cheque (cheques should be made payable to ‘The Linenhall Arts Centre’).

No food or drink is allowed into performances or workshops – it’s very distracting for those around you and can be very messy. Make sure the performance or workshop you are attending is suitable for your age – if it’s not, you will not really enjoy it and it’s not fair to the others taking part.

But there is more – they are actually the original characters and are counting on Nat for protection, because if they leave the library they will disappear along with their stories! And unless Nat can learn to read, all these fairy tale characters will disappear forever. Welcome! If you think RoolaBoola looks different this year, then you think right. We have slimmed down a little from previous years, in that we no longer have a selection of international shows. The sad fact is we just can’t afford them. But, and as you can see it’s a very big But, we still have loads of brilliant stuff for you to get involved in. As a matter of fact, this year we have the best workshops we’ve ever had. Have a look through and I bet you will find something you can’t wait to get stuck into, maybe even one of Maeve Clancy’s pop-up books. We like to think of this year’s RoolaBoola as a precious miniature, small but perfectly formed! Book now to ensure you get to be part of the fun.

A Big Thank You To our local County Councillors Henry Kenny, Michael Kilcoyne, Eugene McCormack, and Al O’Donnell, who gave extra support to RoolaBoola this year.

The Moon Garden

Illuminated Visual Art Installation 11.00am – 4.30pm BOTH DAYS PRINT GALLERY, LINENHALL

There is a garden far away, full of stars and animals and wonders. This garden is on the Moon, where plants glow, birds fly loop-the-loops in zero gravity, and insects float from plant to plant. The Moon Garden is always flourishing. This year for RoolaBoola, artist Tom Meskell, in conjunction with trainees at the HSE Rural Training Centre, Castlebar, has created an enchanting installation in the Linenhall - a magical, light-filled world in miniature. Prepare to be amazed. A musical addition by the Píba Ríba band @ 4.30pm on Sunday complements the exhibition.

How Do Actors Play? Actor Louis Lovett introduces you to his own unique style of performance - one that embraces the mischievous spirit of play – in this family workshop for children and adults. Theatre Lovett co-founders, Louis Lovett and Muireann Ahern, take you through the actor’s journey on stage: how to take hold of the moment you’re in, how to look forward to the moment coming next and, most importantly, how to look back – to the moments of play that children understand, and that adults can learn from and remember. Louis Lovett is Ireland’s most experienced and critically acclaimed performer for children. He has worked both on stage and screen (he is Killinaskully’s resident German cheese seller - Dieter Langer!).

Fairyfolk, forts, banshees and superstitions also feature within a magical paper landscape in an original story written by the artist, using the archive material as inspiration.
