Moverte en coche por Sevilla cuesta unos euros al año. Esto incluye los gastos de combustible (30€ a la semana), parking (entre 100 y 120€ al mes), seguro (600€ al año) y puesta a punto (700€ al año). En moto, unos 1.000€ al año, considerando el combustible (10€ a la semana), el seguro (300€) y el mantenimiento (200€ al año). En transporte público, unos 340€ al año (el bonobús mensual cuesta 28€). En bicicleta, no más de 50€ al año, lo cual incluye cambio de frenos, ruedas, timbre y luces. Getting around Seville by car will cost you at least €4,000 euros a year. That means that crossing the city (18 minutes aprox.) emits two kilos of CO2. If just 10% of the 750,000 cars that travel through Seville were hybrids (i.e. cars that alternate between liquid fuel and electric power), then 30.4 million litres of fuel a year would be saved, and CO2 output would fall by 74,000 tons. (A standard car weighs 1.5 tons. Emitting 74,000 tons of CO2 a year is like launching 49,333 cars into the air a year, converted into gas.). Using a bike causes no pollution whatsoever. Some 77km of bicycle lanes have just been built, and between January and February daily hires of bikes have risen from 1,673 to 6,490.

Qué

what

Es un videojuego que combina lo último en tecnología –música, vídeo, edición en 3D y entrevistas con la gente de la calle– para mostrar la realidad de los jóvenes y adolescentes del Raval, y pensar sobre ella.

Se parece a Second Life, con la diferencia de que no ofrece formas de evasión, sino que tiene los pies bien puestos en las calles de ese barrio políglota y multicultural. Al fin y al cabo, son los propios chavales los creadores de los argumentos y sus personajes. Por ejemplo, Patel Shirani, cuya descripción aparece en el blog del proyecto: “Una chica de 22 años que trabaja en una peluquería, estudia español por las tardes y habla hindú con sus amigas, guyaratí con su familia e inglés y castellano con los clientes de la peluquería”. A partir de esta premisa, la vida de Patel puede ir en uno o en otro sentido, dependiendo de las decisiones que el jugador tome por ella. O sea, Ravalgames acaba de comenzar.

It’s a videogame that combines the latest in technology – music, video, 3D graphics and interviews with people on the street – in order to show the reality of life for young people from Raval, and make you think about the topic. It’s a bit like Second Life, with the difference that it doesn’t offer a form of escapism. Instead, you have your feet firmly planted on the ground of that multicultural and multifaceted neighbourhood. It’s the kids themselves who create the story and the characters. Take, for example, Patel Shirani, whose description appears on the project’s blog: “A 22-year-old girl who works in a hairdressers, studies Spanish in the evenings and speaks Hindu with her friends, Gujarati with her family and English and Spanish with the customers in the salon.” Taking that as a starting point, Patel’s life can go in any direction, depending on the decisions that the player takes for her. Ravalgames is just getting going.

Algunos han realizado los diálogos y las entrevistas; otros han trabajado más en el diseño y las imágenes; otros han hecho un vídeo sobre la Rambla del Raval, y otros han compuesto la música hip hop”. Pero Ravalgames es el juego; el proyecto global se llama Bordergames, “juego de fronteras”, una red de personas que utilizan los videojuegos para convertirlos en “herramientas educativas construidas por ellos y para ellos”.

Ravalgames is aimed at the same kids who took part in the creation of the game. As one of the members of the project explains – who prefers not to give their name so as to highlight the collective nature of the project – “We’ve worked with 15 young people in mixed groups. Some have created the dialogue and interviews, while others have worked more on the design and the images. Others have made a video about the Rambla del Raval, while others have written the hip-hop soundtrack.”

But Ravalgames is a game; the global project is called Bordergames, a network of people who use videogames as an “educational tool built by themselves, for themselves.”

Bordergames es un proyecto independiente y sin fines de lucro; ninguno de sus miembros vive de él. “Somos educadores, gente de diseño, de informática, artistas; tenemos otros trabajos. Lo que intentamos es que sean los chavales y los equipos educativos los que vivan del proyecto”, dice la misma persona que antes ha preferido omitir su nombre.

La idea nació originalmente de La Fiambrera Obrera, un colectivo que promocionaba Bordergames en Lavapiés (Madrid) en 2004. A partir de ahí se ha generado una red en Gijón, Figueres (Girona) y Grossberg (Berlín), y hay planes para crear Bordergames en Legazpi y Entrevías (Madrid), Sant Celoni (entre Barcelona y Girona) y São Paulo.

Bordergames is an independent, non-profit project; none of its members make a living from it. “We are educators, designers, programmers and artists; we all have different jobs. What we try to do is make sure that the kids involved and the teaching teams can live from the project,” says the anonymous project member. The idea first originated from La Fiambrera Obrera, a collective that promoted Bordergames in the Madrid neighbourhood of Lavapiés in 2004. From there, networks have been created in Gijón, Figueres (Gerona) and Grossberg (Berlin), and there are plans to create Bordergames in Legazpi and Entrevías (Madrid), Sant Celoni (between Barcelona and Gerona) and São Paolo.

It’s about two Vietnam veterans who return to the United States after having lost one of their good friends in the war. It’s a great film because it really captures the atmosphere of small towns in America in those years: how difficult it was for soldiers to go back to a normal life, and normal relationships, after their experiences in Vietnam. The development of the characters is very well done, and the whole film is really intense. Esta psicóloga valenciana llegó a Ibiza con un sueño: poder abrir un centro donde aplicar los conocimientos de psicología que aprendió durante la carrera e implementarlos en la práctica del yoga con niños y mujeres embarazadas. “Es apasionante ver con qué alegría llegan a clase y cómo, poco a poco, los pequeños aprenden a reconocer su cuerpo y sus sentimientos”, relata Ana Belén. En sus clases, los niños tienen voz para expresar sus sentimientos, y está demostrado que esto les encanta. Por supuesto, las clases son más cortas que las de los adultos. Ana Belén añade: “Tengo un alumno de tres añitos y le cuesta seguir el aprendizaje, todavía”. Sus clases también ayudan a los pequeños a enfrentarse mejor a los conflictos de la vida diaria.

Lleva ocho años dando clases de yoga en Ibiza y lo practica desde los 20. Aunque reconoce que su primera clase le resultó aburrida, poco a poco el yoga la fue atrapando. “Yo venía del atletismo y esto me parecía demasiado pausado.

Pero empecé a leer sobre el tema y vi que había algo más allá de hacer bien una postura”, recuerda. En su tono pausado relata las cualidades de un lugar como Ibiza a la hora de practicar yoga: “Aquí hay muchos espacios naturales que son perfectos para realizar meditaciones.

Estar cerca del mar y de la naturaleza engrandece la experiencia”, asegura.

Para ella no hay límites de edad a la hora de practicar yoga y sea cual sea la edad que uno tenga, tiene que planteárselo como un reto. Y aunque confiesa que los hombres son más reticentes a la hora de empezar, ellos son los alumnos más constantes.

Ha formado a la mayoría de profesores de yoga de la isla, y aun así confiesa que nunca deja de aprender. Anna Masó lleva diez años en Ibiza enseñando yoga y desde hace dos se ha establecido en su propio centro budista: un lugar en plena naturaleza donde reina la calma y resulta fácil detenerse para dejarse llevar. “Aunque enseño Hatha yoga, me gusta combinarlo con otros tipos”, asegura. Anna transmite paz y dulzura con sus palabras y una tremenda energía con sus movimientos. “El yoga te hace el cuerpo muy flexible poco a poco y también flexibiliza la mente”, comenta mientras hace un ‘saludo al sol’ en una calle del barrio de La Marina, en la ciudad de Ibiza. Para ella, la clave a la hora de practicar yoga es la constancia: “No es algo milagroso que funcione de un día para otro. Pero si lo pruebas y te atrapa, te engancha, en el buen sentido”.

Para Víctor dar clases de yoga no es su profesión, y considera su faceta de profesor como una gran afición. De hecho compagina sus clases con la gestoría que regenta junto a su familia. Lo suyo con el yoga tampoco fue amor a primera vista y no le importa decir que al principio le pareció un poco extraño. Tras una época de mucho estrés, decidió aceptar la sugerencia de su hermana y probar una clase de yoga. Ahora no podría vivir sin practicar diariamente.

“Todo el mundo nota los beneficios del yoga. Pero es más difícil darse cuenta cuando te sientes bien, cuando estás mal es cuando más notas lo mucho que te ayuda”, confiesa mientras juega con su hija mayor, que ya practica yoga con su madre. Según Víctor no todo el mundo sintoniza con esta disciplina, “hay gente que no le ve interés, pero hacen falta tan sólo unos meses para descubrir los matices y empezar a tomarte el yoga como un reto personal”.

El yoga le ha cambiado la vida. Lourdes es la esposa de Víctor Torres y empezaron con la misma profesora. Su hija mayor tiene once años y retomó la práctica del yoga cuando ésta tenía tan sólo un año. Empezó a los veinte y lo dejó porque confiesa que no había sintonía con su profesora. “Es importante encontrar a un profesor con el que conectes”, comenta. Cree que cuando llevas cierto tiempo practicando yoga tienes la necesidad de compartirlo con el resto de la gente y enseñarles cómo te está ayudando a ti. “Esto es un modo de vida nuevo y aprendes a relativizar todo lo que te pasa: tanto lo bueno como lo malo”, así es como Lourdes resume lo que el yoga le ha aportado. Aún recuerda los nervios que pasó en la primera clase, pero ahora ha aprendido a captar el estado de ánimo de sus alumnos y se atreve a improvisar y aventurarse en cada clase.

When Plato was strolling around ancient Athens, philosophising and playing with his yo-yo – the secondoldest toy in the world, in case you didn’t know – he wasn’t pondering a future world that included Mr. Potato Head and Super Mario. He probably would have loved the idea.

Child’s play is big business these days, with giant corporate entities battling it out over who can put more shiny toys into more sticky hands. But behind those mega-toy-store shelves stacked with Spiderman action figures lies a story of real visionaries, modern-day Geppettos who took great ideas and turned them into something… fun.

On the following pages, three designers of children’s toys and one creator of adult collectable toys tell how they became what they are.

Playing house Romy Boesveldt,

co-founder of Kidsonroof Kidsonroof was born in Amsterdam, when exhibition maker Peter Henkes asked his old friend Romy Boesveldt to help him market a house that he had designed for his three-year-old daughter. The house, made of white cardboard, practically begged for the scribble of a crayon or the splash of some paint (and possibly some glitter and feathers for good measure).

The project took off in 2005, when House, as it’s called, was showcased at Woonbeurs, Holland’s biggest interior fair, to great fanfare: a group of famous artists and designers decorated the houses, and they were auctioned off for Unicef on opening night. House was an overnight success, and Kidsonroof was officially in business. “The name comes from a sort of Pippi Longstocking feeling,” says Romy, “Kids on top of a roof ruling their own creative world of imagination – being the bosses of their own minds.”

She thinks there is an undeniable allure to little houses. “Children, whether they lived 100 years ago or now, just love tents, huts or little houses to creep into, to hide in, to play in, to feel cosy. To feel like a grownup in your own house – anyone can remember this from his or her own childhood.”

Romy’s own childhood toys were of a similar kind: she used to have her own little shop in the room she shared with her sister, and their favourite game was to play library. “We just had some chairs set out, and we took books and ‘lent’ them out to each other, neatly noting who lent which book when, etc.”

Kidsonroof was not initially intended as a toy business. But both Peter and Romy lamented the lack of a basic, gender-free toy house on the market, and they thought that this niche would at least earn back their initial costs. In fact, they still don’t feel they have a toy business. “We feel like making good, basic designs for children with natural materials and with lots of room for children’s own imagination. And also we do something for children that are not as rich as our own, by donating 5 percent of our profits to Unicef.” So far they’ve collected over €23,000 for a project to help HIV-infected children in Russia.

Romy’s toy philosophy is “creating something out of nothing”, and both she and Peter look to their own children for inspiration. Romy’s nine-year-old son is a co-designer of their TOTEM construction cards.

“We regularly have samples at home that we’re working on and that we ‘test’ with our children. A good designer needs to be able to ‘live’ the user’s mind – and in our case, that’s the children’s minds.”

The big picture Eloi de Charentenay,

design manager at Vilac Toys Up near the Swiss border, in the Jura region of France, Vilac has been manufacturing classic wooden toys for nearly 100 years. Eloi de Charentenay quotes the French philosopher Roland Barthes when trying to sum up the relationship between Vilac toys and the wood they are constructed from: “It’s a familiar yet poetic material that establishes in children a sense of continuity between a tree, a table or a floor.”

Toys influenced Eloi’s life from a very early stage. When he was four, he recalls, he used to play drums on his mother’s saucepans. To keep him from denting them all, she bought him a Fisher Price music set and asked him to play in the garden. “I never stopped playing drums – I still play jazz, rock and classical percussion.”

Inspiration, he says, is the easy part of his job. The difficult one is to discern which idea is really interesting – and to have time to develop it.

The first toy he designed was an ant that could be pulled. He was reading Empire of the Ants, a book about ant civilisation by French writer Bernard Werber, at the time. “I often pay attention to my intuitions; they are the result of a subconscious reasoning.”

The process of making a toy is long: first comes the idea, then sketch-

es, sales approval, production and quality approval, samples, testing with children, testing in the laboratory for safety requirements, packaging creation, and then production, when all the problems are solved.

“The two best moments are when I create the toys and when I see them in a shop. Unfortunately, these two moments are always very short. It’s 95 percent boring work for only 5 percent pleasure. But for these 5 percent, I love my job.

“The worst moment is when I show a new toy for the first time: I show a part of myself, of my sensibility. I see immediately in the eyes of the others if they like or not.”

Eloi thinks that you have to still be a child to design toys. “You must love toys, games, and fun. You must still have child dreams.

When it snows in winter, I’m always the first one outdoors for a snowball battle.”

In the mid-80s, a 25-year-old art historian from Holland named Tom van der Bruggen decided to close up his antique shop and start a new life in the south of France. All his life he’d been obsessed with the idea of building a castle, and now he was going to see his dream through. He found a wrecked old farmhouse, bought it, and set to work.

But when it came time to build a 3-D scale model, Tom found that the wooden blocks he was using were useless, and voilà: the idea for Kapla planks was born.

Tom says that he first discovered the usefulness of planks as a child.

“I remember playing with Bailey bridges, a steel bridge construction kit. You can build a bridge with them in two days. I especially liked the steel planks, which were built to cover the bridge. That’s when I first discovered that for construction you need planks, not blocks.”

So Tom created his own planks, all based on what turned out to be a magical ratio of 1:3:5 (thickness:width:length). He realised he had created the perfect building block: the narrow planks, made of marine pine, had a slightly sticky surface and, unlike clumsy blocks, were perfect for assembling model castles, not to mention anything else a person could imagine. This was a toy that would open up all sorts of possibilities for kids – with just a little inspiration, a child could use the planks (which are all the same size) to create everything from a snake to a skyscraper.

Tom named the planks Kapla, an abbreviation of kabouter plankjes (Dutch for small planks) and eventually decided to embark on a new career as a toymaker, sure that he would be a success. The bankers, however, were less certain, and declined to back his business plan.

So, after 16 years, he traded in his old obsession for his new one, and sold the castle, a decision he doesn’t regret. “I chose to keep Kapla instead of the castle, and I think I was right.”

It turned out to be a good decision: after Tom realised that many of his clients were teachers, he went to Paris to sell the planks in schools - today, Kapla planks are widely used in France’s national education system.

Tom’s latest creation is another building toy, this one called TomTecT. It’s a set of very thin planks, slightly longer than the Kapla ones, equipped with plastic turning clips so they can be hooked together. “It’s very different from Kapla: Kapla is a beautiful, useful set where you use your imagination. TomTecT is more about knowing what you want to build. It is less minimalist art and more a construction game.”

Tom considers himself an artist rather than a businessman. “I don’t make things because of the market. You make something that you really love and then you’ll find other people who will like it as well.”

His own children, meanwhile, tended to give their father’s creation a pass. “They played outside - fantasy things and games.”

It seems that even as a toy designer, you can’t please all your potential customers.

Fine vinyl Simone Legno,

creator of Tokidoki Toys aren’t just for kids. Over recent years, a new trend has emerged: collectible toys, mainly vinyl dolls, for adults. And even though they’re a bit on the edgy side, kids who were weaned on Pokemon cards can easily graduate to the vinyl collectibles scene.

Simone Legno, a Rome-born artist who’s in love with all things Japanese, has made the most of the movement: he opened his Tokidoki shop in Milan last fall, and has teamed up with Hello Kitty designer Hiroko Yamaguchi to design a prickly new look for the formerly squeaky-clean kitten.

Simone believes that adults collect toys for decorative purposes.

“Toys are like the posters we hang on our walls. They are not always childish – some designs are pretty strong, modern and sometimes even aggressive.”

His favourite childhood toy was a cuddly Bert from Sesame Street that accompanied him until he was 15 years old, much to his father’s dismay. But he has since moved on to more arty stuff. “I collect vintage Japanese toys from the late 1970s and 80s, the ones I dreamed about when I was a kid but could never have.”

Before he actually made his first toy, Simone used to design characters. Among the early ones was Sandy from the Cactus Friends, a girl dressed in a cactus suit that protects her from all the bad things in the world. Today, Sandy has a veritable entourage of Cactus Friends toys; Simone’s favorite among them is the puppy Bastardino, also clad in not-so-cuddly cactus.

To Simone, toy design is similar to traditional sculpting: it’s a 3-D representation of reality. To dream up new toys, he constantly thinks about characters and draws them. “It’s everything I love and live for. I watch things and transform them into characters.”

How to become a toy designer Right now, you’re probably thinking to yourself, “What’s so tough about inventing a toy?

I could probably come up with a great idea and sell it before this plane lands.”

Or could you?

We went to Toy University (actually, the Toy Design Department at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology, which is famous in toy circles for having the world’s first accredited baccalaureate programme in toy design). Judy Ellis, the founder and chair of the department, explained what it really takes to make it in the corporate toy world.

1. Your heart needs to be in the right place. “I think that the motivating factors for any designer should be a love of invention and a general proclivity toward humanitarianism.”

2. Patience (and a good agent) is also a virtue: “Most toy companies have an inventor-relations department that handles external ideas,” says Ellis. “Legal issues surrounding these submissions can be complex. If the submission is optioned and scheduled for production, the inventor receives a royalty that’s based on a percentage of sales.”

3. Say a toy manufacturer really likes your idea, that still doesn’t mean it will ever make it to the production line. “A product needs to be developed over time by a multi-disciplined team of experts,” says Ellis.

“First of all, the concept needs to be innovative and address a need in the market. It also needs to be age-appropriate for the child and provide a rewarding and safe play experience. The product needs to be developed economically, reaching a defined manufacturing target. It also needs to be developed according to a tight schedule to ensure that it reaches the shops within retailer’s requirements. During this process the product is constantly reviewed in order to ensure adherence to strict safety guidelines.”

Still sketching on your cocktail napkin? Fine – just don’t quit your day job yet. You might have to make it on your own.

Who would have thought that the more residential part of the Pigneto suburb hosts a small corner of childhood for the over-40s? Hidden in the basement of a building, a wonderland of European and American tin toys, comics, rare pop-up books, model trains, cars, and doll houses from the 1920s to 1960s sleeps behind dusty showcases waiting for visitors to knock on the museum door.

It all started back in the sad old days of World War Two, when a Viennese Jewish man named Billig managed to flee Austria with his large collection of toys. From Italy, he emigrated to the US, and continued to collect toys for years, shipping them back to his daughter in Rome, who opened the museum with her husband. And it is her very husband, now in his 60s, who will open the door and turn on the lights for you as you gaze at the nicely arranged collection. María Gracia tiene casi un año. Desde que nació no conoce otra vida que la de la cárcel de Alcalá de Guadaíra, en Sevilla, donde su madre cumple condena. Vive, crece, aprende y juega allí dentro, entre los muros del patio y las rejas de una celda. Hoy domingo es el primer día que sale a la calle. Acaba de descubrir las palomas del parque de María Luisa.

“Ha venido muy nerviosa en el autobús. Ni siquiera me ha mirado”, dice Marta Campos, quien no le quita ojo de encima. Marta estudia Farmacia y es la coordinadora de los voluntarios de la ONG Fundación Padre Garralda Horizontes Abiertos en Sevilla. Así como ella, no son pocas las personas que cada domingo acuden a las cárceles españolas para sacar a los niños a la calle para que corran y jueguen en libertad. Aportan una parte de su tiempo –su “granito de arena”, como modestamente lo llaman– para ayudar a normalizar sus vidas.

Para Marta, que lleva años haciendo esta labor, niños como María Gracia, Candela, Susana, Vanesa, Iván o María son los más especiales del mundo. No lloran, no se pelean y no se quejan por nada. Están como dormidos, faltos de estímulos y de cariño. Por eso te tocan, te huelen, te cogen el dedo y no te lo sueltan. Al no tener desarrollado el sentido de la posesión, cuando ven un juguete se resignan, no lo piden.

Cuando sonríen lo hacen más por agradecimiento que como muestra de felicidad.

Todo les llama la atención. Se ponen felices viendo las grúas, el tráfico, un coche de caballos. Les gustan las caras nuevas y la gente ma-

yor. Lo que más curiosidad les despierta es ver a otros niños paseando con sus padres y sus madres, aunque sienten un evidente rechazo a la figura masculina.

“Crecen sin sus padres y en la cárcel, así que en su mundo sólo hay mujeres”, explica José María, el único hombre voluntario que acompaña hoy al grupo. “Cuando conozco a un niño nuevo, lo primero que hace es pegarme. Con los hombres son muy fríos”, dice este chico de 22 años que no olvida a María, una niña que cuando decía papá lloraba. “Le caía una lágrima seca, sin gesto, como una persona adulta”.

María Gracia, Candela, Susana, Vanesa, Iván y María vivirán entre rejas hasta que cumplan tres años. Así lo establece la ley. Después, si no tienen a nadie cercano que se los lleve, acabarán en una familia de acogida.

Mientras llega ese día, cada domingo, estos pequeños no sólo reciben amor. También lo dan, y enseñan sin saberlo a Marta y a José María y a los demás voluntarios a apreciar más la vida. “Ellos me aportan tranquilidad y felicidad. A valorar lo que tengo, a los míos, mi vida entera”, dice Inés, de 22 años, voluntaria veterana y también estudiante de Farmacia.

Pilar, la abogada de los más débiles Al otro lado de la ciudad, Pilar Sepúlveda contagia a cualquiera con su vitalidad y sensibilidad. Empezó hace años a defender a las mujeres que son víctimas de agresiones sexuales, y ahora ayuda a las maltratadas y a sus hijos a que tengan un futuro mejor.

Desde Amuvi, la Asociación Ante la Violencia Sexual, Agresiones y Abuso que ella dirige, ha puesto en marcha un programa –pionero en España– que estudia los problemas que tarde o temprano presentan los niños de madres maltratadas. Son muchos: ansiedad, miedo, estrés, incapacidad para relacionarse, insomnio, problemas de alimentación y falta de rendimiento en la escuela.

“Los niños son los grandes olvidados, los invisibles de la violencia de género”, dice esta abogada de penal y de familia, experta en “victimología”, y precisa que el maltrato no es sólo físico, sino que puede ser verbal o psicológico.

A corto plazo, Pilar trata de conseguir que los hijos superen esta situación traumática, recuperen la autoestima y la relación con su

madre. Y, a largo plazo, que no reproduzcan los roles que han visto en casa.

“En el 60% de las familias donde hay maltrato, las niñas acaban convirtiéndose en víctimas, como la madre, y los niños en agresores, como el padre”, explica. A veces algunos niños asumen también el papel de “príncipe vengador”: protegen a la madre, salen en su defensa y se rebelan contra la violencia del padre para hacer justicia con su propia mano, una responsabilidad que no les corresponde.

Para Pilar Sepúlveda, la infancia es el tiempo básico, la raíz de nuestra vida. Y si por alguna razón se trunca, se puede –y debería– superar con la intervención adecuada. “Existe futuro para todo el mundo y éste puede ser mucho mejor que lo vivido.” Es más, cree que las personas que sufren en su infancia pueden ser después más completas y estar mejor formadas. “Los niños, como el elástico, tienen una capacidad tremenda de adaptación. Al poco tiempo vuelven a retomar su vida. Trabajar con ellos es muy gratificante porque los resultados se ven muy pronto”, sentencia con una amplia sonrisa.

PIENSA EN PEQUEÑO

Isabel, la eterna sonrisa Detrás del disfraz de payasa está Isabel Camiña, una ventrílocua capaz de maravillar al público imitando el llanto de un bebé sin mover la lengua ni un músculo de la cara. Y con la misma técnica canta de todo. Sobre todo, copla.

Isabel recuerda que en el colegio de monjas ya destacaba por su capacidad de hacer sorprender y hacer reír a la gente. “Había una compañera que me llamaba ‘la niña del exorcista’. Me decía que lo que hacía era cosa del demonio”, cuenta entre risas. Los expertos que la han tratado le han dicho que posee una voz prodigiosa, más desarrollada de lo normal.

Además de ventrílocua, Isabel es maga, payasa, hada, princesa, bruja, animadora, contadora de historias y creadora de figuritas de globos. Un cajón sorpresa, alguien que siempre está dispuesta a divertir a los niños, empezando por el suyo, pues su fan número uno es su hijo Javi.

Cuando sale al escenario, esta artista polifacética se crece. Sabe hacer hasta 25 trucos de magia, como aquél en que saca la carta elegida de dentro de un huevo. Esta madre de familia con alma de niña aún recuerda el festival de artistas que montó hace años en La Alameda de Hércules de Sevilla para recaudar fondos y ayudar a un niño que tenía leucemia.

“Se salvó”, dice con orgullo, y añade que jamás olvidará su visita a la planta de oncología del hospital infantil del Virgen del Rocío.

Isabel Camiña cree que los niños de ahora, aun cuando no hayan perdido su inocencia, son más listos que antes y tienen más picaresca. Y que los adultos se olvidan cada vez más de la risa, de volver a ser niños, por eso, son cada día más infelices.

“Al niño que llevamos dentro lo estamos asfixiando, matando poco a poco. Somos cada vez más falsos, más robots y menos nosotros.

Nos falta espontaneidad y nos sobra sentido del ridículo”, dice esta peculiar “doctora sonrisa” que actúa allí donde la llamen.

La vida, según ella, debería ser siempre como en Carnaval, “para quitarnos la máscara”. Tiene sentido. Dice que el mejor piropo que le pueden tirar es que le digan que parece una niña. Claro, porque lo es.

llevar a los chavales a conocer los estadios de fútbol. Ya han visitado el del Sevilla, el del Betis, el Camp Nou de Barcelona y el Bernabéu del Real Madrid.

Además, en verano pasan un día inolvidable en la playa, y en Navidad, hace lo imposible para que a cada uno de sus niños no les falte un regalo de los Reyes Magos. Jorge nunca falla. O más exactamente, no se permite fallarles. “Los niños son los verdaderos protagonistas de la humanidad. Todos pueden tener una vida mejor si les damos la oportunidad.” A cambio, dice, recibe lo mejor: ellos dan sentido a su vida.

Un balón de fútbol es el mejor atajo para inculcar a los chavales los valores de la libertad, el respeto, la amistad y la solidaridad.

O simplemente saber compartir

Jorge, el educador de calle En la mejor escuela de la vida trabaja Jorge Morillo, quien lleva 23 años ejerciendo un oficio en extinción: educador de calle. Por eso, en las zonas más pobres de Sevilla le apodan El Cristo.

Jorge tiene 50 años y una creencia irrefutable: un balón de fútbol es el mejor atajo para inculcar a los chavales –la mayoría de origen gitano– qué significan los valores humanos esenciales: la libertad, el respeto, la amistad, la solidaridad o simplemente saber compartir.

Que sonrían, que le metan un gol a la marginalidad y sean personas íntegras: ése es su reto.

Al año trabaja con unos 200 niños y niñas de entre 2 a 26 años de las zonas menos favorecidas de Sevilla, como los barrios de San Juan, Las Tres Mil Viviendas, Torreblanca o el asentamiento chabolista de El Vacie. Morillo, que sólo quiere ser un referente en sus vidas, alguien a quien puedan pedir consejo y escuchar con respeto, ejerce de entrenador, psicólogo y educador.

“A estos niños les faltan muchas cosas, pero sobre todo oportunidades para poderse integrar a la sociedad. La sociedad es reacia con los que viven en condiciones infrahumanas”, se queja este hombre que siempre va vestido de verde esperanza.

Morillo es un tipo curioso, atípico y diferente. De corazón humilde y casi sin medios, siempre anda buscando patrocinadores. “Mi sueño no se sustenta solo. Me las veo y me las deseo para montar cualquier historia por pequeña que sea.” Durante todo el año pide apoyo para

The Poble Sec, a tranquil working-class neighbourhood in Barcelona, has hardly been known for its charm. Lately, immigration and the availability of bar licenses have been mixing it up a little. Not all its inhabitants are amused Text by Kati Krause Photos by Roc Herms

The noise was deafening. Ana, however, didn’t seem to care. She calmly opened a bottle of beer – Estrella, as in most Barcelona bars. Then she stuffed a paper towel into the mouthpiece for cleaning, as it’s done back in Santo Domingo, and held the bottle over the counter. The man who reached for it only briefly glanced at her and did not even interrupt his speech. “We need to strengthen the institutions!” His voice boomed, and he wiped his sweaty forehead with the sleeve of his striped button-down shirt. “Everybody needs to be the same before the law!” The other men sneered. Ana, the owner and only woman in the place, shrugged and busied herself with some glasses.

It was only a few weeks until the parliamentary elections in the Dominican Republic, and the electoral debate was being played out heatedly at Bar Tropical, a small Dominican bar in Barcelona’s Poble Sec neighbourhood.

The Tropical is the product of a changing Poble Sec. Wedged between the Montjuïc mountain and the Avinguda Paral·lel, one of Barcelona’s main roads connecting the old port with Plaça Espanya, the neighbourhood sprang up in the late 1850s, when simple homes for the workers who built the Eixample district were erected here.

The name – literally “Dry Village” – stems from the fact that the first fountain wasn’t installed until the year 1894. Much of the labour, then as today, came from outside Catalonia, mostly from other parts of Spain, and from its conception the area possessed a distinctly diverse and working-class character.

In recent years, a new wave of immigrants has settled in the Poble Sec, this time coming mainly from Latin America and South Asia.

row streets. And soon enough young, modern businesses followed suit, attracted by relatively low rents and the fact that the Poble Sec is one of the last areas where the municipal government still grants new bar licenses. Life centres on Blai, a pedestrian precinct lined with bars and hairdressing salons that cuts through the length of the neighbourhood. This is where the area’s changing character is most obvious: young Catalans have drinks on the many terraces while adolescents of Latin American descent listen to music on their mobile phones and children of all skin colours play football.

The elderly men at the Els Moderns on Margarit, 44, view it all with some scepticism. The bar works as a clubhouse for three associations: a Cyclists’ Association, founded in 1917; the FC Tapioles, dating back to 1985; and the Choral Society “Els Moderns”, created in 1926.

“Back then we were very vanguard, that’s why the neighbourhood gave us the name,” explains Carlos, its president.

The three associations joined forces ten years ago, when operating separate club houses became too costly. The only item that seems to have changed since then is the huge flat-screen TV, used to show the football matches of the FC Barcelona, Espanyol and Real Madrid – social events par excellence. Thanks to cigarette smoke, the bar has acquired a general sepia tone which is only reinforced by the many faded pictures adorning the walls. A handful of plywood tables are equipped with green felt cloths used for playing card games. And a bottle of beer costs just €1.20.

“Yes, the Poble Sec is changing,” Carlos muses. “It is losing some of its old charm: before, everybody used to know everybody. Today, all the groups have their little ghettos.”

But the changing character offers an opportunity for some. Anthony, 26 and Marta, 28, just opened their tea shop Mantra a few months ago. With its walls painted in warm colours, the odour of crepes and water pipes, and psychedelic chill-out music filling the place, it would be more at home in the Gothic Quarter or Gràcia. But in neither of those two neighbourhoods is it possible to obtain a license anymore; the only way would have been to take over an existing bar, with the accompanying cost. As it is, the couple spent just €90,000.

“We did most of the renovation ourselves – the place was a mess!”

Marta recalls. “But we had been dreaming if this opportunity for a long time.”

Others are still trying to revive the lost spirit of the Poble Sec with new ventures. Partly thanks to its proximity to the port and the red light district, the area was once known as a “Little Paris”, with cabarets and theatres like El Molino (think Moulin Rouge) lining Paral·lel.

The theatres are now closed or house more commercial shows, but at number 67 of Elkano, a quiet residential street, two men have tried to restore some of the area’s old glory by opening the Café Teatro Picasso, a restaurant-cabaret located on the premises of what used to be a reggae bar.

Roberto comes from a family of artists and has always wanted to run his own show. Matías’ background, on the other hand, is in the hostelry industry. When the two met, Matías gave up his bar in the Barcelona suburb Hospitalet, sold his flat, and together they opened the Picasso.

Roberto walks on stage wearing heavy eye make-up and false eyelashes, a glitzy tux and a top hat with a huge Chanel logo. He plays with a feather boa that was wrapped around his shoulders and flirts with the audience.

“I have been losing money for four years,” Matías had confessed earlier. “To actually make a profit, the show needs to be sold out.”

On stage, a superbly ugly woman was making jokes about her looks.

Matías turns around and, shedding his shy manner, shouts “Guapa!” (“Beautiful!”) across the room. Then he draws his head in again and points to a balding man with extravagant dress who is obviously the head of a group of people occupying the centre table. “That man is very rich. He owns gas stations. And he loves our show. He comes nearly every weekend. I’m trying to convince him to take us to the Teatre Arnau on Paral.lel. I’d fill that place! But here...” He sighs and shrugs.

The Poble Sec’s location, it seems, is both its blessing and its curse.

Poble Sec for every taste Out on a date Thanks to its obscure character, the Poble Sec is the perfect place to show off your insider knowledge of the city and leave an impression. Start with an authentically Italian dinner at La Bella Napoli (Margarit, 12, Tel. +34 93 442 5056) or a Mediterranean set menu at intimate Tapioles 53 (at Tapioles, 53 · book table at Tel. +34 93 329 2238). Afterwards, have a drink in the romantic atmosphere of Tinta Roja (Creu dels Molers, 17), and if everything goes well, you can spend the night at La França, a tasteful hotel for couples at La França Xica, 40 (www.lafransa.com).

Poble Sec weird The best place to watch a football match in the Poble Sec is the Social Club “Els Moderns” (Margarit, 44), replete with old men and cheap beer. For a slightly surreal experience, see a show at Café Teatro Picasso (Elkano, 67 · www.cafeteatropicasso.com · Dinner and cabaret €60, show only €25). And if you’re feeling really bold, try to talk your way into the bar of the Calaveras motorcycle club (Ricart, 27).

On the trail of tradition The neighbourhood comes together for vermouth on Sundays at the Bodega Saltó (Blesa, 36 · 11am-3pm), where musicians take the stage while customers sing along. For a typically Catalan meal, go either to La Tomaquera (Margarit, 58) a busy restaurant specialising in grilled meat and snails, or to Can Margarit (Concordia, 21 · Tel. +34 93 441 6723), a dining hall adorned with large wine barrels and farming equipment, where they serve simple meat dishes. a MODERN TAKE ON THE MATTER In the summer, Blai street fills up with young people having a drink on one of the many terraces. Try Bar Ramón at number 28, a relatively new addition to the pack. Both Barcelona Rouge (Poeta Cabanyes, 21) and the Mau Mau Underground (Fontrodona, 33) are bars that double as cultural venues, with regular events from poetry readings to short film screenings. And for something more exotic, visit Mantra, a Moroccan-inspired tea shop and bar at Salvà, 21.

ÁMSTERDAM LA ISLA DE LoS CHOLLOS

There are many people fighting to keep some of the most deep-rooted traditions from the Ibizan culture alive. Among those is María Torres, the only craftswoman from the island who is still giving classes in weaving esparto grass. For the last eight years, her students have learned how to make shoes, hats and shawls like the ones that are used in the folk dance of Ibiza, known as the “bailes payés”, and which are used by one of the most famous groups of dancers, from Sa Bodega. MALAGA TELL A STORY

The Librería Rayuela organises a storytelling workshop the whole year round in the Contemporary Art Centre. It has two aims: to get kids between three and 10 years old to discover the unexpected twists and morals of children’s stories; and to teach the older ones how to tell these adventures to the little ones without losing their attention until the end, helping them to reach their own conclusions. When you’re visiting somewhere new, it’s always interesting to find the highest point so that you can contemplate the landscape in one single view. In Menorca, that place is called Monte Toro. From 360 metres up, the whole of the island can be seen on a clear day, from Maó to Ciutadella, as well as from the north to the south bays. And on nights with a full moon, the clear weather allows you to enjoy the view of the island sleeping. At the top you’ll find the Virgen del Toro shrine, whose origin is the story of several members of a religious order who went up the hill in the 18th century, accompanied by a bull, and found an image of the virgin. By rules of logic, if there’s a heaven on earth, there must be hell, too. And if we had to picture it, we’d use the La Solfatara Volcano as backdrop: it’s damn hot, there is white smoke rising up all around you, and it smells of brimstone. Strangely though, the place is completely quiet. The only active volcano in the Campi Flegrei area is perfect for a visit or even to camp out in the summer. And there are no trailers either, just raw, unadulterated cinema heaven. All the art house films on show are in original language, be it English or Mandarin. The smallest of the screening rooms has just 53 seats: big, comfy and unchanged since the 70s. You’ll forget about the popcorn.

ART GALORE Artists can be intensely private folk, working long hours in dusty shuttered workshops that you could walk past every day without even noticing they are there. Once a year however, in the middle of May, more than 250 artists living and working in Belleville throw open their doors to let the public see what has possessed them these past twelve months. United under a common theme – this year it’s Temptation – the activity is not confined just to the workshops, but floods out into courtyards, streets and gardens, turning the neighbourhood into an enormous living gallery. Every artistic discipline is represented here, and the festivities include concerts, performances and lectures. STRAWBERRIES and GREEN Rome is packed with pleasant eateries, but in spring there’s nothing like having cheese and strawberries while lying on the grass of a hidden Roman park. And that experience is just three steps away. Step 1: From the Colosseum, cross the road into Via dei Ss. Quattro. Step 2: Stop at the Dì per Dì supermarket and stock up on fava beans, pecorino cheese, some crunchy ‘pizza bianca’, and lots of strawberries. Step 3: Walk up the road and take the first right, then cross and continue on the boulevard up to Villa Celimontana park.

Once inside, turn right and look for your favourite spot on the soft, green hills, to enjoy your meal under flocks of parakeets chasing each other amid the pine trees.

NEW YORK IN ANDALUSIA Vanguard, cosmopolitan, artistic, magical, atypical. If you like the idea of having your own little corner of New York in Seville, drop in at the EME Fusión hotel. It’s right opposite the Giralda, and was only opened recently. There is a cosy bar with live music at night, and various restaurants to choose from: an elegant Japanese; Milagritos, a tapas bar; and one of Mediterranean cuisine, El Santo. PURE PLEASURE At the edge of the Atlantic, some 200 metres from the fishing village of La Caleta, there lies one of the cosiest places on the island. A place where you can take a dip, enjoy the white parties in the summer or play a game of beach volleyball on one of the courts. If you opt for pure leisure, swing by the Chiringuito Beach Club de La Caleta. It’s a delightful place located upon those Canarian stones that the locals call “callaos”.

And Reixa is not just any old shop: sometimes it’s a concert venue, an exhibition hall or a meeting place where you can chat about this very phenomenon. LEATHER LIKE SWEETS The smell of leather pulls in a passer-by like the smell of a bakery at 6pm. The door is open, and from the street you can see the workshop of Il Griffone, in which Antonio Peressin has spent nearly 30 years working in minute detail on leather goods, his timid eyes always smiling above his red beard. He only makes small, well-priced pieces from wallets and belts to book covers and pocket mirrors. Take something home with you, and savor it, like a bon-bon from the bakery. HOW TO MAKE A KITE Text by Kati Krause, who made about a dozen kites in the course of her childhood. All but two escaped into freedom Illustration by Diego Ortega Alonso

1.

You’ll need two sticks, about 60cm and 40cm long. Mark

the shorter one exactly in the middle and the longer one a third down.

Tie the two sticks together at the marks so they form a cross.

2.

With a knife, make indents into the ends of the sticks. Then fix some string to the upper end of the stick and run it around the other ends until it forms a frame.

3.

Place the frame on a large piece of light paper or a plastic bag and

cut around it, leaving an excess of 1.5 cm. Cover the excess paper in glue and fold it over the string.

4.

Join the opposite ends of the sticks loosely with string,

then tie a long piece of string to the point where they cross. Use the rest of the paper and string to decorate your kite, with a long tail, for example. Look for an open space, wait for a windy day, and you’re ready to fly.

MALA RODRÍGUEZ (Jerez de la Frontera, 1978) se mudó a Madrid a los 19 años y empezó a dedicarse por entero a la música. Ha editado tres discos: Lujo ibérico, Alevosía y Malamarismo, recientemente premiado como mejor álbum de hip hop en los Premios de la Música y con el que ha hecho gira por Estados Unidos. Entre sus colaboraciones destacan las que realizó con Calle 13 de Puerto Rico y con el artista afroamericano Akon. También ha participado en las bandas sonoras de Lucía y el sexo y Yo soy la Juani. Madre de un niño, la Mala debutará como actriz en la gran pantalla este año en la película Tú eliges, dirigida por Antonia San Juan.

nombre de guerra. Y a raíz de él, llamé a mi último disco Malamarismo, que es como un poco de diversión en medio del agujero. Mis letras siguen siendo reivindicativas. ¿De dónde me salen? De muy adentro, o como digo también, porque yo soy así, me salen del coño. El caso es que siempre he sido curiosa y me ha gustado ver el lado feo, denunciar las cosas que no me gustan. En el fondo es un poco ingenuo pensar que puede pasar algo bueno, aunque hay un montón de buenas noticias que podrían darse, como hay tantas malas. ‘El mundo está mu mal repartío’ o ‘la vida es violenta’, son algunas de las cosas que digo en mis canciones, porque lo creo. Si el mundo fuera un lugar maravilloso, yo sería un hada o un ser volador.

Creo que todos somos buenos y malos a la vez. Lo que pasa es que cuando tú estás mal por dentro y te sientes infeliz, haces más cosas feas, a ti mismo y a los demás. La gente que actúa de una manera egoísta es porque realmente no se siente bien consigo misma. Otra de mis letras dice ‘sin reputación no hay respeto’; esto es porque no puedes exigir respeto si nadie sabe por qué te tiene que respetar. Tú tienes que actuar de forma que te ganes ese respeto. Son tus hechos los que hablan de tu persona.

El diálogo y la comunicación son muy importantes en todos los aspectos. Hablar nos diferencia de los animales; si no pudieras hablar, si no pudieras comunicarte con tu lenguaje, ¿qué harías? Ya que tú tienes este poder, utiliza la palabra y hazte responsable de ella.

En este sentido, el hip hop es lo máximo, porque nace de una forma tan guay de compartir...

Es como que con el hip hop la gente baila fuera de la sociedad; son de alguna manera los que están al otro lado. Y que la gente exponga sus

El hip hop hizo que mi vida fuera muy bonita.

Realmente sigue habiendo muchos más hombres que mujeres en el hip hop, pero las pocas que hay son representativas y dicen cosas muy interesantes. Al pensar en 40 años atrás, una mujer que hubiera sido como yo... ¡Vamos!

Yo tengo la lengua fácil, digo lo que pienso muy rápido y a lo mejor muchas veces me vendría mejor callarme. Pero bueno, gracias a Dios me estoy ganando la vida por esta locura. ¿Una frase que me defina? Yo diría que soy bipolar, un día estoy arriba y otro estoy abajo.”

A SMELL FROM PARIS

the godly stench

On the Quai aux Fleurs, where the river wall cuts away, two sets of steps drop towards the Seine and upon reaching it continue under. The steps form a small harbour into which the water fans and bulges, as though commanded by some power beneath the surface, before heaving itself back into the river’s westward flow. Most visitors don’t make it as far as the water, and the bottom steps have become an oasis for the lone wolf. As a rule, the sitter here is left undisturbed, the noise of the city a distant muffle above. I come for this tranquillity. I also come for the smell.

On a day of high tides and low winds, when the sky is an even marble grey and the water bottle-green, waiting here can at first feel desolate, as if waiting by the Styx for Charon to spirit you across. At length, however, the smell arrives, or rather you arrive to the smell, for it was there all along waiting for you. It is not a sweet smell, but neither is it repellent. To say so is like rejecting the colours of the spectrum because you can’t stand the glare of white light. It’s just an unruly scent of many strands, not all of which can be unravelled and not one of which can be said to hold the key to the others. There are acrid strands – oil and effluent, a reminder that this is a working river – but also hints of the organic, of the flora and dogged fauna that call the river home and, still more subtle, of the Burgundy soil from which the water springs. It’s a smell that clears the nostrils and sharpens the nose, just like certain tastes sharpen the palette.

The smell changes with time. One day you may be struck by its alcoholic, almost medicinal tang, on another by something like damp leather. On yet another you might swear that you can actually smell the fish that drift listlessly just below the surface, the shape of fat bullets.

Why though, with all the perfumeries and ‘boulangeries’ in town awash with artfully seductive odours, would anyone seek this one out?

For the pleasure? No, not quite. One morning several miles west, on the Allée des Cygnes, it was put to me like this: “That place smells like God would smell after a night in the dives of Pigalle.” No matter that the breath of this unknown chatterer was spiced with hard liquor, for how right he was. Dragged down and dirty, of course, but holy too – for

I discovered the Quai aux Fleurs several years ago, shortly after arriving in Paris, and returned often. Once, descending the steps, I caught sight of something in the water. A battered armchair turning around and about in the current and, perched on its spinning apex, an angry, somewhat dizzy, but determined-looking gull. Watching it spiral away, I smiled. Like a peppercorn floating in a bowl of soup, here was a concentration of the difficult mix of flavours that made up the river: the natural, the man-made, the breathtakingly elegant and the dizzyingly absurd. The intangible, contradictory aroma of an intangible, contradictory city. For the smell of this river, more than any other, is for me the smell of Paris. The one smell that is truly of the city. The smell of nowhere else but here.

–Cada foto es la última, Mayer. Este modelo de Polaroid se ha dejado de fabricar.

Estamos en la playa de Trinxa, en Ibiza. El sol sale y se tapa a ratos. Después de Sa Caleta, la torre de Ses Portes y Sa Talaia Joana, ahora vamos hacia Ses Salines. Soledad ha traído unos prismáticos y persigue con la mirada a pajarillos que después me presenta.

En latín, para más inri.

–Una tringa nebularia. Loca por los crustáceos, como tú.

Nuestra visita a la isla se debe a una exposición de grabados japoneses que el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Ibiza muestra hasta el 31 de mayo. Hemos quedado allí con un marchante venezolano, amigo de toda la vida de Soledad.

–Simón siempre ha sido una fuerza de la naturaleza.

Tuvimos nuestras historias, ¿sabes? –No, no quiero saber. Me taparé las orejas y cantaré a voz en grito si es preciso–. Ayer pensaba en ello, tuve una revelación: mi colección ha sustituido al sexo. Así es. Por cierto, Simón viene con su hijo.

Pasamos por el hotel y elijo un vestido de Rodarte que Soledad me trajo de Dover Street Market. Vamos a buscarles a la cafetería del museo.

–Soledad –se levanta con una sonrisa un hombre alto, muy guapo, de unos setenta y cinco años, morenísimo, con un panamá de Mülhbauer–. Tan elegante como siempre. Ahoritica le contaba a Roberto la última vez que nos vimos en Niza.

Roberto, traje de Raf Simons y The Guardian a medio leer, es como el padre, pero con cuarenta años. Me saluda, pero no me sonríe (buena señal).

–Roberto, ésta es Mayer. Me ayudó a conseguir nuestro Armando Reverón.

–Uno de mis cuadros favoritos. Aturde tanta belleza –y me clava la mirada.

–Entremos a la exposición, si les parece, para no sufrir el bululú de turistas de las cinco.

Soledad y Simón se alejan, charlando. Una hora de conversación después, me siento con Roberto en un banquito de madera del edificio. Hay eco. Para esquivarlo, susurramos.

–No sé dónde andan Soledad y su padre.

–Que tarden en volver.

El calor en el pasillo es sofocante. Me abanico con el programa. Se acerca a mi mejilla, la roza con su cara y la besa. Casi fraternalmente, con una intimidad que conmueve más que un beso sexual. Le devuelvo el gesto en sus labios. Tengo las llaves del Jaguar, pienso. Ahora mismo al hotel, pienso. Ya nos disculparemos, pienso.

–Vamos a buscarles, si usted quiere –digo. Tratarle de usted es lo que más me pone de todo.

–En realidad –contesta él–, me gustaría llevarla al atardecer en la playa.

Es Cavallet es nudista, lo cual hace la situación aun más insólita. Apenas hay tres o cuatro personas más en toda la arena. De mi bolso cae una polaroid, que Roberto recoge. Yo, seria, con aquel pájaro de fondo.

–Una tringa nebularia. Esbelta y orgullosa, como usted.

Suena mi móvil: Soledad. “Mayer”, no me deja hablar, “no sé dónde estás ni me importa. Simón me ha llevado a su hotel. Te veo en Barcelona la semana que viene.”

Mayer Aramburu tiene 31 años y es la asistente de Soledad, una refinada coleccionista de arte con la que viaja por toda Europa.
