As the largest and most established international travel trade event in the Mekong sub-region, the three -day event will bridge more than 300 local and international travel companies and brands with 300 carefully selected international Hosted Buyers, to drive the thriving inbound and outbound tourism industry Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries in Vietnam, with more than 9 million international visitors arriving on its shores in the first seven months of 2018 , an increase of 25.4 per cent over the same period last year. In addition, the outbound tourism market is also growing each year with a robust 7.5 million Vietnamese travel ling abroad in 2017. Dubbed the definitive international travel trade event in the Mekong sub-region, this year’s edition aims to expand the market share of international visitors in four key areas: Northeast Asia, North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia to create a breakthrough in tourism promotion in the period 2018 to 2020. The ITE HCMC 2018 expands both in terms of quantity and quality. The three-day expo features more than 300 companies and brands from industries like airlines, hotels and resorts, travel agents, large corporations, and travel representatives from Australia, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos.... Moreover, there are 36 provincial tourism departments from all over the country attending the expo that is expected to showcase distinctive travel ideas. ITE HCMC, Vietnam’s Premier International Travel Trade Event...
One of the long-standing features of ITE HCMC is the Hosted Buyers & Media Programme. This year, 300 carefully selected Hosted Buyers from more than 35 countries, including outbound travel agents from over 40 key international markets, as well as 25 acclaimed Hosted Media from 15 countries consisting of Trade and Lifestyle Media, Bloggers, and TV Broadcasters, will also be present at the expo. Buyers and exhibitors can make use of the business matching service and B2B BuyerSeller meetings to network and explore new business leads. More than 5,000 online appointments have already been made between buyers and sellers on the ITE Online Matching System, which benefits both parties by allowing them to connect quickly and conduct their meetings efficiently. After the event show days, the Hosted Buyers and Media will explore several key tourist destinations in Vietnam. Apart from the Grand Opening Ceremony, Gala Dinner, B2B Buyer-Seller meetings,

business matching, and various networking functions, invited participants can attend on-trend business seminars organised by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and the Department of Tourism Ho Chi Minh City. Six seminars have been lined up this year: Introducing Exciting Destinations of Vietnam; ASEAN Tourism Award; Vietnam - China Tourism Cooperation; Innovation in Tourism Products - From Ideas To Business Reality; Seminar on Vietnam - Japan Tourism; Advancing the Vietnam Travel and Tourism Sector Enhancing Data Driven Decision Making and Using Blockchain. In addition, there will be many lucky draws on the day for public visitors, with many valuable prizes, discounted tours, cultural exchanges programs, promotions from airlines... Mr. Bui Ta Hoang Vu, Director of the Department of Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City, shared: “We bid everyone a warm welcome to Ho Chi Minh City! It is such an honour and delight for us to play host

The Opening Ceremony of the 14 th International Travel Expo in Ho Chi Minh City – ITE HCMC 2018 with the theme “Vietnam Culinary Delights” was solemnly held at Sheraton Hotel in District 1 on the evening of the 5th of September in 2018. Attending the Opening Ceremony were leaders of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and central agencies, leaders of 36 provincial and municipal People’s Committees and Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism, officers of Ho Chi Minh City Executive Board of Tourism Development, leaders of Tourist Associations of Vietnam and Tourist Associations of Ho Chi Minh City, and members of the media at both central and local levels. Also, there were representatives of over 300 international Travel Agencies; tourist newspapers and magazines from 46 countries and territories, and members of 3000 tourist organizations from the ITE 2018 participating countries. In recent year, the promotion of the image “Five Countries – One Destination” has been considered as the important target of tourism industry of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. The favorable geographic location along with the similarities in nature - history - culture is the foundation for these countries to build
mutual trust on a potential and sustainable tourism linkage in the region. Journeys connecting 5 destinations in the Mekong sub-region (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam) are likely to create fantastic and unforgettable experiences, from which most of the natural

Vietnam’s New Luxury Getaway ‘Premier Village Phu Quoc’ Phu Quoc Island, listed by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve, offers a host of different activities and attractions for everyone. Whether it’s diving, fishing, or hiking pristine trails into the dense tropical jungles, there is always something to do - and when the sun goes down, the local night market is a great place to explore. Phu Quoc has guests from a wide range of countries since it is an island and therefore perfectly matches the needs of long haul vacationers, domestic vacationers, and inter-Asia vacationers. It has traditionally seen a more “midscale” clientele but is now shifting progressively to a much more upscale level. Surprisingly, it was a largely European clientele that would come in the classic “European high season” of December to April. Being such a new destination also presents many opportunities for the luxury segment.

“Luxury comes with high expectations from guests, which is absolutely understandable. The island of Phu Quoc has no base of experience of service; therefore all the employees are new and in general not very experienced. They are very eager to learn, however, so there is no doubt that we will succeed, but much must be done to establish a strong luxury service culture. Our team has already achieved a great deal since opening so I am very enthusiastic about their full potential,” said Premier Village Phu Quoc’s Jean-Francois Brun, Cluster General Manager. “We are basically building a completely new level of offer in this region. It means a whole new range of guest must be attracted to visit Vietnam, and specifically Phu Quoc. Furthermore, since there was no real “history” of luxury in Phu Quoc, we have the opportunity to reinvent anything we see fit in luxury here. For hoteliers, it’s a real dream playground,” added Brun.

The seminar was hosted by Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, organized by Informa and the Department of Tourism of the six provinces (Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Quang Binh, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Kien Giang). A t t e n d i n g t he s e m i n a r w e r e representatives of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, representatives of the Deapartment of Tourism, leaders of professional divisions and units of the Department of Tourism of 06 localities in the seminar, representatives off Vietnam Tourism Association, 06 local Tourism A s s o c i a t i o n s , r e p r e s e n t a t i ve s of International Travel Agency, representatives of airlines wwith routes to the localities along with domestic and international news agencies. The seminar exhibited and introduced tourism products, publications, tourist information on products, attractive destinations, green tourism, environmentally responsible ecotourism and tourist services of interest, from the 06 localities. Moreover, the seminar also introduced the attractive, potential destinations and policies to attract and support the development of tourism in 06 localities. The seminar brought to participants many valuable discussions about tourism PR and promotion of localities to international markets, policies of cooperation for developing tourism products in the localities, policies to encourage and support international and local tourism businesses to establish a link for tourism development.

Welcome over 300 Hosted Buyers and Hosted Media to ITE HCMC 2018 Story: Nguyen Bao - Photos: Huu Long From the 3 rd to the 5 th of September in 2018, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism (HCMC DOT) welcomed 300 carefully selected Hosted Buyers from more than 35 countries, including outbound travel agents from over 40 key international markets, as well as 25 acclaimed Hosted Media from 15 countries consisting of Trade and Lifestyle Media, Bloggers, and TV Broadcasters.
The Hosted Buyers and Hosted Media are guided, supported the procedures to enter Vietnam as well as the places to stay. All the officials from HCMC DOT and volunteers kept staying at Tan Son Nhat airport 24/24 hours in three days to welcome all Hosted Buyers and Hosted Media attending ITE HCMC this year. The reception was done attentively, professionally, showing the respect and hospitality of Ho Chi Minh City for international friends visiting the city. Also within the framework of ITE HCMC,
a welcome dinner for Hosted Buyers was held on the Indochina Queen River Cruise on September 4th that brought more excitement and opportunities to meet between buyers and buyers before the official opening ceremony of the expo begins.
