DICKINSON’S REAL DEAL IS COMING BACK TO FLEETWOOD!
ITV’s Hit Antiques Show presented by David Dickinson is coming to Marine Hall in Fleetwood and is looking for local people to cash in their antiques.
Why let your antiques collect dust in the attic when you can sell them for cash? Take money on the spot from a dealer or if you think your item is worth more... take a gamble at auction!
Dickinson’s Real Deal is currently one of the most popular daytime shows on ITV and is regularly watched by over a million people. Back for a nineteenth series, David Dickinson and the dealers are traveling around the country looking for some more bobby dazzlers brought in by members of the public!
If you want to sell your goods, but only for the right price, David and the dealers are going to be at Marine Hall, The Esplanade, Fleetwood FY7 6HF on Sunday 21 May. Doors will be open between 8am and 5pm.
David Dickinson comments,
“It’s great to bring the show back to Fleetwood. Come along and get the Real Deal!”
As usual he will be keeping an eye on the deals and giving advice about whether to take the dealers’ cash OR gamble at auction. But the final decision lies with our contributors and it’s up to
them to decide which option is the real deal!
Councillor Lynne Bowen, Leisure, Health and Community Engagement Portfolio Holder comments,
“We are beyond thrilled that the popular daytime show is returning to Marine Hall, Fleetwood this May. We are sure it will be a great turnout and we can’t wait to see what treasures and collectibles people will bring along on the day. We hope people get to take home a ‘real deal’ on the day.”
Members of the public should bring their antiques and collectables along on the day – our team of independent valuers will be offering free advice on all items brought along on the day. Admission is free and you do not need to book a place or a ticket.
• Arrival between 8am5pm (last entry 5pm)
• Please bring along photo ID such as passport or driving license
• No need to book, just turn up
• Everyone will get a valuation on the day
DEMENTIA ACTION WEEK IS ACTION-PACKED FOR RESORT
This week is Dementia Action Week, and in Blackpool a number of events are taking place to celebrate and raise awareness of the support available to people living with dementia and their carers.
Trinity Hospice’s Admiral Nurse Maxine Emslie and Admiral Nurse Assistant Julie Wooley-Hemming will be attending a conference to increase their knowledge in early-onset dementia, visiting the Dementia Café at Marton United Reformed Church and the FCMS bus at Blackpool and the Fylde College.
But the highlight of the week will be the return of the Dementia Action Week Heritage Tram Tour, sponsored by Blackpool Transport, offering people living with dementia and their carers a trip down memory lane, with musical entertainment and a fish and chip lunch.
Maxine said: “There really is so much available for people living with dementia and their carers across the Fylde coast, and it’s truly a pleasure to work with them all to showcase the support they offer.
“This week is all about highlighting local support available to all people living with dementia, from early symptoms and diagnosis to the later stages of the living with the condition.
“Here on the Fylde coast, we also want to celebrate the important work being done to create a dementia friendlier community, and I truly believe that by working together with our local partners that we can do just that.”
On Thursday, a heritage tram will set off from Pleasure Beach for a journey into the past with music and songs from days gone by. With onboarding music provided by the Thornton Cleveleys Brass Band and lunch donated by Papa’s of Blackpool, guests are in for a treat!
Julie said: “We are once again incredibly grateful to Blackpool Transport for helping with this fantastic event, which we’re sure will provide a wonderful experience and journey into the past for the people we are privileged to care for.”
For more information about dementia support and activities throughout the week follow @TrinityHospice AndBrianHouseChildrens Hospice on Facebook.

Salad Days
Spring into summer by planting your own salad vegetables to enjoy over the warmer months.
As the weather warms up, consider planting these super salad plants to ensure that you have fresh and healthy ingredients on hand this year whenever you need them.
Lettuce
A salad staple, lettuce is also one of the easiest salad plants to grow, and it can be sown directly into the soil in the spring and summer months. There are many different types of lettuce to choose from, including crisphead, butterhead, and looseleaf.
Lettuce prefers cool weather and partial shade, so make sure to keep it well-watered during hot spells.
Rocket
Rocket has launched itself into the hearts of UK salad eaters, and it’s not hard to understand why.
Peppery and vibrant, the leaf also known as arugula adds a lot of flavour to any dish and is quick to grow. Just be sure (as with all fresh veg) to give it a good wash before you serve it.
Radishes
You may think radishes are rad; or you may think they taste very, very bad. Regardless, this crunchy and peppery root vegetable is easy to grow and can go from seed to serve in as little as four weeks. Offering a decent dose of vitamin C, these red rebels can add flavour and texture to salads, are strangely superb on toast, and can be pickled to enjoy later. Just make sure you plant them in welldraining soil.
Spring onions
When it comes to livening up dull dishes, the humble spring onion is a powerhouse of flavour and versatility.
Spruce up stir-fries, make a delightful dip or even whizz up a delicious summertime soup.
Another good thing about these awesome alliums is that they require very little space or soil, making them ideal for pots and even windowsills.
Spinach
Spinach may be known for its super-strength giving properties, but the plant itself is rather sensitive, requiring six weeks of cool weather from seeding to harvest.
Be sure to keep your plants in the shade, and well-watered during this time.
Once harvested however, you should have an abundance of nutrient-rich leafy greens that can be used in salads, smoothies, and soups.
Mizuna
Spice up your life with Mizuna, a Japanese salad green that has a slightly fiery and peppery taste. For a continuous supply of leaves, sow small batches regularly and thin out the seedlings along the row to prevent overcrowding – for example 10–15cm (4–6in) apart for regular pickings of small leaves.
Chard
You’ll be pleased to know that it isn’t particularly hard to grow chard. A stunningly beautiful and vibrant plant that loves the sun and takes up very little space, its glorious colouring will also complement the late summer blooms in your flowerbeds.
