Register now for Blackpool iFest Illuminations Switch-On Tickets Registration is now open for Blackpool iFest’s annual Illuminations Switch-On spectacular with even more tickets available for local residents

nown as the biggest night in the resort’s calendar, the event takes place on Friday September 4 and will feature a host of top music stars as well as the big moment when the resort’s stunning light display is turned on for the first time for 2015.

And the best thing is, it’s free to attend – all you have to do is enter the ballot to win tickets. People can now put their name in the hat by registering at www.visitblackpool.com/switchon for their chance to receive up to four tickets per household. Last year, around 80,000 people applied for tickets to attend the event.

Organisers have now announced this year’s main stage line up, including massive X-Factor stars Jedward and Jake Quickenden, last year’s runner up from I’m a Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here. Also appearing are Britain’s Got Talent performers Bailey McConall and Harry Mondryk. Making a welcome return to this year’s event are 80s party duo Black Lace and the ever popular Krankies. Two acts that have also become Pride favourites, not only in Blackpool but throughout the UK, are Allan Jay and Ryan Jagger. Lancashire women urged to get pretty muddy Lancashire women are being urged to fight dirty when it comes to conquering cancer - by signing up now for an exciting new event from Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life

reston has been chosen to host the only Race for Life Pretty Muddy event taking place in the county this summer.

Pretty Muddy is a women-only, non-competitive 5k obstacle course – with added mud. It will take place for the first time in the city at Preston’s Moor Park on Saturday, July 18. Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life family of events also includes the 5k and 10k courses, which thousands of women will take on at the same venue on Sunday, May 24 to raise money for life-saving research. It’s the perfect challenge for those looking to shake off the January blues and commit to get more active in 2015. Every hour, more than four people are diagnosed with cancer in North West. And that’s why Cancer Research UK is calling on Lancashire women to fight back against this devastating disease by choosing their challenge - Pretty Muddy, 5k or 10k - and signing up now. Laura Taylor, Cancer Research UK’s North West Event Manager, said: ‘We’re so excited about launching Race for Life Pretty Muddy in Preston. The event is taking place in the city for the first time and we’re calling on local ladies to sign up now. We’ve no doubt that they’ve got the fighting spirit to get down and dirty in the bid to beat cancer sooner. Pretty Muddy promises all the fun and camaraderie of our much loved 5k and 10k events – just with an extra serving of mud. Race for Life events are not competitive.
