We are a small independent group and meet on a weekly basis at our hall at the top of Bold Street, right next to the North Euston Hotel. Our meetings are run on a “drop in” basis every Wednesday between 10.a.m. and 3.00 p.m. Tea, coffee and biscuits are served in a very informal, comfortable atmosphere. We also have a session with exercises especially chosen for Parkinson sufferers but helpers and volunteers can join in too. These exercises will not halt the progression of the disease but they do promote a feeling of well being and are mentally stimulating ( as well as being a good laugh in the process!!) The exercise session is at 12.noon. So if you are affected by Parkinson’s Disease in any way whatsoever, why not give us try, you never know, we might be just that extra tonic you need. FY7 Community Beat Hello I said last month that my focus has moved to the challenges the next part of the year presents for local policing; those themes predominantly being protecting vulnerable people in the community, Child Sexual Exploitation, responding to crime trends, delivering crime prevention advice, investigating crimes and anti-social behaviour including policing Halloween and Bonfire Night events. A reminder to know where your kids are, what they’re doing and who with. Minor anti-social behaviour (ASB) reported to police has reduced year on year however that is no comfort to those who still suffer it. ASB isn’t always caused by children though; we always have a workload where feuds between neighbours have crossed the line too. Each month I attend a multi-agency meeting to discuss the high risk cases where there’s significant vulnerability to the victim and/or perpetrator. These cases are referred to the meeting and a joined up response is provided to ensure the root cause of the problem is dealt with as effectively as possible. We realise that the police are rarely the solution to that root cause albeit we’re regularly the initial response to it. By sharing the information about the problem, identifying the correct lead agency ie Mental Health Team/Housing Association, we’re able to move forward to resolve the issues. The Fleetwood PACT event takes place at the ASDA store on Dock Street on the third Saturday of each month between 1pm and 3pm. We’re usually joined by a local councillor too so between us we should be able to assist or refer your information to the right person. I usually attend the monthly Fleetwood Town Council meetings also, 7pm on the last
Tuesday of the month at the North Euston Hotel. I usually provide a brief update to the meeting about the month’s policing issues in the town, and do my best to answer any questions members of the public have - some have even taken the opportunity to compliment us ☺

LEGER LEGENDS RACE
O
ur 3yo filly Fidelma Moon treated her Owners to a memorable day out when she lined up in the Leger Legends charity race at Doncaster on the opening day of the St Leger festival. The race is organised by former trainer Jack Berry who is now the patron of the Injured Jockeys Fund charity and the money raised from it goes to this charity as well as other leading charities who benefit from the thousands of pounds raised from it. This years race drew extra press and media coverage with HRH the Princess Royal overseeing proceedings and further spice was added to it with the addition of champion jump jockey Tony McCoy who had come out of retirement to line up in it alongside with 15 other former legends of the Horse Racing world. We were lucky enough to secure the services of the former 1990 champion jockey Kevin Darley to ride Fidelma Moon and in a fiercely competitive race she put in another respectable performance finishing 7th of the 16 runners. Despite being the youngest horse in the race Fidelma handled everything really well and took all the pre race preliminaries including the parade in her stride and this is another sign that she is starting to grow up and mature now. Given the early speed that she seems to be showing a lot more of now we may think of stepping her down again in distance to 7f for her next race. One thing is for sure though is that she is improving with age and should turn into a very nice 4yo indeed. Her Owners certainly have got plenty more good days to look forward to with her.
TOP: Kevin Darley on board Fidelma Moon BOTTOM: Owners in the Parade Ring with Kevin Darley Summer Storm With the Flat season starting to draw to an end the attention of the racing game switches codes with the start of the National Hunt season and for us the chance to see our new Jumps horse Summer Storm in action. All his training and prep work are now complete and Rebecca Menzies couldn’t be more happier with him and says he’s in fine form. We have lined up a Maiden Hurdle race over 2m at Hexham for him as a starting point but after nearly a year off the course the main thing will be to get him back jumping and for him to come back safe and sound. We can then assess where we are with him and build on from there.

Fleetwood Firework extravaganza Free event for all the family 5th November
P
reparations are well underway for the staging of Fleetwood’s spectacular firework display and entertainment this year. Once again activities will centre on the Marine gardens with a host of entertainment and fun for all. A multi agency team from the town are involved once again in ensure a memorable and safe night for all the family on November 5th. Some 10,000 people attended the event last year, and again the event is free, so turn up on the night. The display had gone from strength to strength, and is a great favourite with people in the town as it is seen very much as an ‘event for them’.
