Constantines Restaurante Located in what has become Blackpool’s South Shore dining hotspot on Highfield Road, Constantine’s opened in 2008 and offers both Italian and British cuisine in a vibrant and warm atmosphere.

The restaurant has a very Mediterranean feel inside with large exotic murals on the walls and contemporary furniture. It is split into two areas, a comfortable bar for pre-dinner drinks and a main dining area with room for 50 diners in all. The ethos here is value for money with all food freshly prepared on the premises using local suppliers where possible but at keen prices. Expect dishes such as sea bass, shoulder of lamb, pork loin and steaks all

Spitfire scheme prepares to take off
“The Spitfire has a special place in the hearts of older people in the area as they raised £6,000 in 1941 to buy a Spitfire. That is £212,000 in today’s money – a great sacrifice for people in straitened times.
Work is to start soon to identify a location for the proposed Lytham St Annes Spitfire Memorial.
“That Spitfire was called ‘Lytham St Annes’ and was piloted by Sergeant Alan Lever Ridings until he was shot down in 1942 while protecting bombers over Morlaix in France.
Fylde Council’s Cabinet agreed on Wednesday night to help Spitfire Memorial Fund volunteers erect the full-sized Spitfire replica on one of seven possible council-owned sites in Fylde, although the possibility of siting the Spitfire on a private site was not ruled out.
“This scheme remembers a proud time in British history and the organisers should be proud of their efforts in promoting this memorial.”
The memorial will feature a Spitfire and interactive screen detailing the area’s links with the famous WW2 fighter. Depending on how much money volunteers can raise, the memorial may eventually feature three Spitfires within the outline on the ground of a Wellington bomber. Volunteers, including former council leader John Coombes (telephone 07967 724588), have raised approximately £30,000 in the last three years for the first plane. Councillor Sue Fazackerley, Fylde Council cabinet member for Leisure and Culture, said: “This memorial will be a striking way to remember those who fell in combat and particularly the conflict in the skies.

The memorial will be entirely financed by volunteers although the council will help in locating a site, providing technical support and leasing a site to organizers at a peppercorn rent. Unprecedented five Green Flags for Fylde
Councillor Sue Fazackerley, Fylde Council’s cabinet member for Leisure and Culture, said: “Only five years ago we had just two Green Flags so having five is something we should be really proud of.
Five parks and open spaces in Fylde now have Green Flag awards.
“Volunteers as well as the council should take credit for this achievement as much of the improvements in the parks could not have happened without their help.
The new total, the highest that Fylde has ever had, follows the addition of a Green Flag for recently refurbished Ashton Gardens. The flags are awarded nationally and are an indication that parks are well-maintained and well-managed and have excellent facilities. Fylde Council’s Green Flag awards, presented on Monday 25 July, are:
“The people of Fylde are proud of their open spaces – most boroughs have only one, if any, Green Flags.
