What a fabulous night at “Songs of Praise”. The Marine Hall was full to capacity, with a lot of people having to stand, all seats being occupied. The band, the massed choir, the Church music groups, the audience, you were all amazing. Thanks so much for an enjoyable evening. The Mayor of Wyre, Councillor Russell, and Mrs Forsythe, thoroughly enjoyed the company and the occasion, as did Katherine O’Connor who spoke on behalf of “Help for Heroes” A big “thank you” to the representatives from 2nd Yorkshire Regiment, based at Weeton Barracks, and the “Veterans” based at the Kings Own Comrades Club, for their attendance and participation on the night. It was great to have some “local heroes” present, and was greatly appreciated by the capacity audience, when our chosen charity this year was “Help for Heroes”. Thanks to your generosity, a goodly amount was raised in the retiring collection. The final figure will be publicised in a future edition. Also, what a brilliant response to Heritage Weekend!! Hello everyone, the early nights will soon be upon us and we can expect all the fun of hallowe’en and Bonfire Night again anytime now. Last year’s Community Bonfire was a huge success and resulted in greatly reduced demand on all the emergency services. Remember the safety issues and keep your children in bright clothes whilst they are out.

four month custodial sentence after yet again refusing to accept the rule of law and the need for him to conform with Society. Since his sentencing, Anti Social Behaviour has been reduced considerably in that area. Your PCSO’s will monitor his behaviour when he is released and we will continue to target him if he still wishes to spend his life trying to ruin those of other people.

Please keep letting us know of your concerns and suspicions, your help is vital to our success, it is your community and we are here to help you keep it safe. We act on all information you provide and It has been a busy month for us in Neighbourhood you can contact us at your local PACT meetings, by telephoning or calling in at the police station. If Policing in September and overall it is good news all round for Fleetwood. Criminal damage, which is you prefer, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, you can remain anonymous and may get a reward. the most difficult crime to prevent or detect, continues to fall, thanks in the main to excellent targeted work by your team of PCSO’s. This category of crime historically has accounted for a quarter of all crime in the town, but following on Sgt David Blight, Fleetwood Neighbourhood from last year’s big reductions, I can now tell you Policing Team that for the first half of this year damage is reduced a further 25%, which is 82 less crimes. Anti Social Behaviour (ASB) is also reduced by 14%, or 263 less incidents, again due in the main to the hard, targeted work of your PCSO’s. These reductions would not be possible without them. We have had great success, via PC Lester and PCSO Thompson on Rossall Ward, who were successful in applying for an ASB Closure Order on a home on Derwent Avenue, Fleetwood. This house was at the centre of a great deal of crime and disorder, the occupants were having a terrible effect on their neighbours and this in turn led to a great deal of demand on the police and other services. PC Lester and PCSO Thompson worked closely with Regenda, the landlords of the house, and were bravely supported by a large proportion of other residents who had been badly affected. The Magistrates ordered that the house be closed for 3 months as a result and subsequently calls to that area have been greatly reduced. You will recall that I mentioned, in previous columns, a young man who was causing mayhem around Warren Ward, particularly around the Sea Cadet base area. We had tried to steer him away from crime, lead him into more constructive activities and make him understand the effect he was having on others. Well the good news for the community at large is that this boy is now serving a

Town on TV Television cameras will be at Highbury in October for live coverage of Town's Blue Square Bet Premier clash with Cambridge United. The game has been moved forward 25 hours to Sunday 10th October (4pm kick-off) to accommodate the live broadcast by Premier Sports TV. Action from the top flight of non-league football returns to screens thanks to a deal between the Football Conference and Premier Sports TV. A total of 30 of live games are due to be shown this season and the Cambridge United game is one of the first run of matches to be shown. Club chief executive Steve Curwood is excited by move. "This is the first time a match will be shown live from Highbury and the first time cameras have been at here since the Hartlepool FA Cup game a couple of years ago. This really is a showcase game for us and I'm sure

"I’m sure many of our regular supporters will have been coming to each home game expecting to see something emerge from the building site that is currently the east side of Highbury Stadium. "Whilst there isn’t much to see yet however I am pleased to advise that the construction of our new main stand is still bang on schedule and good progress is currently being made with the groundworks. “The first obvious sign of construction will be early in October when the steelwork is erected and that will give everybody the first indication of the sheer scale of the what we are building. The stand will ultimately dwarf our other stands and it will complete our complete redevelopment of Highbury Stadium. “We are still hoping to have around 600 seats in use for the Southport game on the 28th December and the entire development is scheduled to be completed at the end of March next year. I’d like to thank everybody for their patience and understanding as we complete the development and I can assure you all it will be well worth the inconvenience when it’s finished."
