Fleetwood Museum Appeal As a previous pupil of the school Hesketh High when I was there, I was more than happy to print this appeal. An appeal was launched from Fleetwood Museum Trust for money to bring back to Fleetwood a stained glass Memorial window which was saved by Lancashire Museum Service when Fleetwood Grammar School on Poulton Road was demolished. This window was designed by Art teacher at the school, Mrs Ann Haworth and some of her students, and was dedicated to pupils of Fleetwood Grammar school who had lost their lives serving their country during World War 2. This window has been kept in Museum stores at Preston, where it has recently been repaired and our appeal is for the cost of

specialist transportation (the window is 10ft. x 6ft.) and appropriate LED lighting and installation. This window will be placed in the new Coffee Lounge at Fleetwood Museum, and will be ready for all to see from 1st April 2010 when we re-open for the season. We are halfway to our appeal total of ÂŁ4000 and if any person or organisation would like to help us return this window to Fleetwood, donations can be made to Fleetwood Museum Trust. 6 Queens Terrace, Fleetwood FY7 6BT.

Our attached photo shows Mr. Fred Riley, President of Fleetwood and Cleveleys Lions, presenting a cheque for the appeal to Mr. Keith Porter, Chairman of Fleetwood Museum Trust, with Assistant Keeper, Ms Lynn Asghar, looking on.

Four years ago the Museum was threatened with closure, but with a loyal group of volunteers for the last three years looking after the front-of-house duties, and Ms Lynn Asghar as Assistant Keeper, the museum has gone from strength to strength.

If you require any more information please phone me on 873824 or 07885375304.

St Wulstan’s and St Edmunds Catholic Primary School & Nursery Autumn Term at St Wulstan’s & St Edmund’s A very busy time leading up to Christmas saw all the children (340) in our school in a Christmas performance for parents and families. This was a mammoth undertaking which was so successful due to the commitment from parents and staff alike. During the same week, all children in KS2 attended the Young Voices concert at the MEN and performed for a full arena with schools from all over the North West. Some of our children, and staff, performed in a musical evening which helped to raise £640 money for St Wulstan’s Parish. Father Alf sent his thanks to all involved. Those who attended were entertained by very talented and enthusiastic children and staff. A grand total of £640 was raised to help with the purchase of Green Hut furniture.

All pupils in Year 6 hosted a party for the Senior Citizens from the parishes of St Wulstan’s, St Edmund’s and St Nicholas Owen. 80 guests enjoyed a roast dinner served by the children and entertainment by children in Year 1 who performed their Christmas play.

Our swimming team are busy training to defend their title at the inter schools’ swimming gala in February.

All guests were given a Christmas gift, given by the families in our school.

The aims of the project are:

A very busy term saw many sporting successes for the football team as well as a year 4/5 athletics team. The term ended with a celebration of carols and readings for pupils, families, friends and parishioners, which was enjoyed by all, and our end of term mass celebrated by Father Alf in St Wulstan’s Church. The start of the Spring term has already brought us sporting success. Our athletic team has qualified for the County finals of the indoor athletics competition.

NEW SIGNING ANTONY BARRY (PICTURED HERE ON THE RIGHT) New signing Anthony Barry made his Fleetwood Town debut after joining the Highbury outfit from Blue Square Premier Wrexham. Barry, 23, joined the Welsh club from Chester City but opted to join the Cod Army after only a week with Dean Saunders. The midfielder put in a tidy 90 minutes in his first game for Town in the 3-1 home win over Hinckley United and played his part when Nick Rogan added number three. “I’m happy to be at Fleetwood Town and have watched a couple of Fleetwood games before joining and was massively impressed with the setup. The support is massive for this league. The squad is second to none and I will hopefully help add a little bit more ”I bring Football League and Football Conference experience and an ambition that matches the club’s desire to climb higher. I played for Yeovil against Blackpool at Wembley, and we got beat in the playoff finals. It was a good day out and hopefully there’ll be a few big games with Fleetwood.” Barry is a full-time, professional footballer and chairman Andy Pilley is set to turn Fleetwood Town into a full-time club this summer. “Players we are looking to attract are fulltime, professional footballers and it is difficult to recruit them if they only train on a Tuesday and Thursday night. They expect to be training on a fulltime basis and I think the step is necessary for us to improve our squad to make us tactically better. It’s an absolute necessity.”

and the facilities we intend to build on the new east side and it will be exceptional for this level of football. The structure will be second to none. It will also provide revenue streams which will fund full time expenses we will incur.”
