Under 8 boys FAMILY FUN DAY at the Rossall Tavern Fleetwood Town Under 8 boys organised a family fun day at the Rossall Tavern on Bank Holiday Sunday and Fleetwood Town youngsters pictured with Elaine, raised over a £1000 for team funds. Howard and Lian Wynne at the Rossall Tavern The event was organised by manager James Scantlebury and coach Geoff Wilson and included a sponsored walk. The walk took place before the fun day and the route took the team from the Sea Cadet Base to the Fleetwood Ferry Terminal. The family entertainment continued at the Rossall Tavern with a penalty shoot -out, soak-the-coach stand, keepy-up challenge and prize raffle. Geoff said “Everyone enjoyed the day. It was a great opportunity to bring all the parents and youngsters together for a social event. We had a very good turnout and raised over £1,000 for equipment and other costs. I’d like to thank Elaine and Howard, and the generosity of the people who came along and the regulars at the Tavern.”

The Fleetwood pub has it’s own connection with Fleetwood Town. Liam Wynne, son of publicans Elaine and Howard, is a member of Fleetwood Town’s player development programme. The programme combines a two year BTEC course at Blackpool & The Fylde College in addition to coaching Town manager Micky Mellon and his staff. Liam, 16, came off the bench last week to score for the Fleetwood Town reserves as they won 4-1 at Stalybridge Celtic

Round Up by Derick Thomas Pictures by Darren Clarke Jamie Blundell

LINK-Magazine Fleetwood Town 4-0 Workington Attendance 1079 Blue Square North Mon 31st August 2009 Fleetwood Town manager Micky Mellon rang in the changes following Saturday’s defeat at Droylsden. In came Shaun Beeley and Steve McNulty for their first starts of the season and were joined, Jamie Mullan. Town pushed themselves in front after 9 minutes thanks to a trademark Jamie Milligan free-kick from 30 yards. The kick left visiting keeper Tony Caig rooted to his line and was awarded after Mullan was fouled on a mazy run on goal. Workington had little to offer in terms of a response, Gareth Arnison was beat by a 23rd minute offside flag in one of his sides few sorties forward. The Highbury outfit took their one goal lead into the break and only needed 4 second half minutes to increase the scoreline. Adam Warlow took hold of a corner and despatched from close range. Strike partner Mike Wilde put his name on the score sheet with Town’s third. He was presented with the opportunity to walk the ball home past the stranded Caig. Nathan Pond completed a fine display of team football, driving home after Town had peppered the Workington goal from a 72nd minute corner.

Fleetwood Town have only one first team fixture at home in September – that’s unless the Cod Army are drawn at home in the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round. The draw is made after the 1st Qualifying games which take place over the weekend of 12th/13th September. Town won 3-0 at Wakefield in the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round last season. 05/09 15:00 Redditch United A BSN 08/09 19:45 Farsley Celtic A BSN 12/09 15:00 Corby Town H BSN 19/09 15:00 Hyde United A BSN 26/09 15:00 FAC 2nd Qual TBC
