LAST CHANCE TO SEE COASTGUARD TOWER The Fleetwood horizon is about to change. For over 60 years, the old Coast Guard tower has sat overlooking the south west corner of Morecambe Bay, standing tall over Fleetwood Golf Course and the sand dunes. But in a few weeks time, as part of the exciting Sea Change project, the old tower will disappear and a new, iconic, ‘leaning’ tower will replace it.

The tower will have seen many changes, including the demise of Fleetwood’s fishing fleet, the construction of the wind farm and the sad, final ‘Stena’ journey, out of Fleetwood, on Christmas Eve, last year.

For further details, visit www.ncirossallpointfleetwood.co.uk or ring the tower on – 01253 681378

What hasn’t changed is the magnificent views across to the South Lakes and Yorkshire Dales, the sand banks appearing and then disappearing, with every tide.

Midsummer Night's Walk 2011 (Wreck Trek) Saturday June 18th , 18-45 hrs This four mile guided walk across the Fleetwood sands at low water, replaces the Wreck Trek. The walk is on fairly flat sand but there is a little wading through gullies - so old trainers are ideal. Bare feet are not recommended. The walk is organised and escorted by the Fleetwood Lifeboat crew with the help of Her Majesty's Coastguard and Nautical College. We will be assembling on the beach behind the Marine Hall in Fleetwood from 18-15 hrs. Check-in will open at 18-30. The walk will start following a short safety briefing at 18-45. There will be a presentation evening do for all participants, on a day to be decided upon, following the event. Any companies / groups / organisations / persons, interested in participating and helping us raise much needed funds contact Paul Ashworth anything@fleetwood-lifeboat.org
