Lytham Window Company

t: 01253 762 811 web:www.lythamwindowco.co.uk Established in the 1980s by Dave Fletcher and joined shortly after by co-director Mark Hegarty, Lytham Windows is now moving into its fourth decade of trading, and is the longest established manufacturing UPVC company on the Fylde Coast. From humble beginnings to the purpose-built premises on Preston New Road, the company has come a long way, and over 100,000 retail, trade and commercial customers are testimony to its high standards of workmanship, service and quality. Managing Director Dave Fletcher said: “It’s fantastic the way our customers keep coming back to us time after time, and now, because we have been trading for so long, we are doing installations for our original customers’ grown-up children!” The prestige showroom has state of the art orangeries, doors, conservatories, and windows on display, all made to the highest standards in the on-site factory that can now make over 500 frames a week.

12

What has kept Lytham Windows the market leader all these years? “The customer is the most important person in the world,” Dave explained. “I insist on the highest standards of workmanship and professionalism from my staff, so customers know that each installation will be carried out cleanly and efficiently. “There is no high-pressure selling here, all quotes are put in writing so the customer can decide at their leisure, and each job carries a no-quibble 15-year guarantee along with a ten-year insurance-backed guarantee. “We are also a FENSA-registered company, which means that every installation is registered and certified as meeting as building regulations.” Competitive pricing and up-to-date computer technology, together with years of experience explain the company’s ever-growing popularity. And it is a well-known fact that consumers buy from people they like, so with the staff turnover at Lytham Windows so low, the same friendly faces greet customers time and time again.

The Strawberry Gardens The Strawberry Gardens on Poulton Road Fleetwood continues to attract real ale drinkers from all over the country. Offering 12 real ales and up to 6 ciders it has the largest permanent selection of real ales on the Fylde coast. We will soon be extending our range to include beers from Belgium and other European Countries. Food is now available from 11-00am until 8-00pm daily. Our Saturday night live music is very popular both with customers and the bands. We have some bands having booked in up to December 2012 to ensure that they are able to get their slot at the Strawberry. The Strawberry Gardens is very much a community pub and we have many local organisations taking advantage of the free meeting rooms we have available. On a Wednesday and Sunday nights we have a quiz.

The Fleetwood Folk Club meets every Thursday at 8-30pm and welcome visitors to the club. The Strawberry Gardens is situated in more than an acre of land and also accommodates the Strawberry Gardens Bowling Club and two Pigeon clubs. Bowling is available to customers of the Strawberry Gardens pub in the afternoons during the summer. The Fuzzy Duck brewery, currently based in Poulton, will be moving to the Strawberry Gardens site later this year and will include a brewery centre to enable people to view the beer brewing process This should bring much needed tourists to Fleetwood hopefully on the new trams. In December David Shaw, landlord of the Strawberry Gardens and Sales Director of Fuzzy Duck Brewery, promoted some of their Fleetwood 175 Celebration beer at a Lancashire Day event in the House of Commons. Amongst those who sampled the beer was Lord Strathclyde who is the Leader of the House of Lords and the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster.

Fleewood News

What’s happening in Fleetwood? There’s not much to see yet at Rossall Point as work is well underway to rebuilt the observation tower, with works all happening at ground level. It’s going to be fascinating to see the new tower in place in the coming weeks, and what kind of beacon it makes on the coastline! The new Same Day Health Centre on the dock should be open by early summer. It’s not only tidied up the area and made it look far more attractive, it will be a superb facility for the people of Fleetwood and beyond.

The publicity will be welcome news to the traders of Fleetwood who have felt the effects of not having the tram system bringing locals and visitors to town. The place should spring back to life! Plus, if you belong to a community group in Fleetwood please get in touch. We’re collecting information for something special that’s coming soon, and don’t forget to join in with the Visit Fleetwood Facebook page. You can email jane@visitCleveleys.co.uk or ring 07932 143431

The exciting event that coincides with this magazine will be the arrival of the trams. Set to be the beginning of April, it’s destined to be a huge and unforgettable event for the town. If it’s anything like the launch of the same type of tram system in Sheffield many years ago, it will focus the eyes of the country on the coast for a good while to come.

What’s On Fleetwood Churches Together

So, here we are, so close to that glorious weekend! What a mix of emotions we experience - from Maundy Thursday, when the tradition is for feet to be washed, and Churches to be stripped of all adornment, to Good Friday, when Our Lord gave up his life to secure our future, through to that glorious day, Easter Sunday, when we joyfully celebrate His rising from the dead.

BREAKING BREAD, every Tuesday at 12.00noon at St. David’s Hall. A fabulous meal, in great company, for just £3.00. Can’t be bad! Do come and see for yourself. Why not come earlier and join in the Service first at 11.30am.

WEDNESDAY CLUB, every Wednesday, at St. Wulstan’s Green Hut, Poulton Road, from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. A great “cuppa”, and a game of Bingo if you’re lucky.

We have had amazing support from F.C.C and local businesses who have donated skips, diggers, building materials, bouncing castles, raffle prizes and cash donations, we would like to thank them and the volunteers who have worked on the land, because without thier help we wouldn't have got this far. The land has been cleared, the raised beds have been made by a local Joiner free of charge and a new member has just joined us John is a retired builder and carpenter who is enjoying getting stuck in to plans for the cabin and is half way through the footings for the cabin.

Roofing & Building Maintenance

Although Fleetwood Museum has been closed for 5 months, staff and volunteers have been using the time to upgrade displays and research new ones. The Deep Sea Fishing and Dockland Galleries have been re-decorated and showcase displays have undergone some changes. When the Museum re-located to Queens Terrace from Dock Street, twenty years ago, the large scale model of Fleetwood Dockland in the 1930’s heyday was an immediate highlight. Over the winter, one of our volunteers, an expert scale modeller, has been working on the dockland model and added landmarks like the Grain Elevator, numerous fish houses and factories and the three lengths of the original fish market. For Fleetwood residents who spent their lives on the Docks, the newly re-furbished model will bring back a real touch of nostalgia. April will see a number of events at the Museum. Re-opening Day will be Tuesday 3rd April at 11am and the Museum will be open Tuesday to Saturday each week from 11.00 to 16.00. There will be special weekend opening for Bank holidays and for special events. Well known local resident, Malcolm Clegg will give an illustrated talk, Fleetwood Golf and the Military Connection at the Museum on Thursday 19th April at 2pm. This is a fascinating talk looking at the use of land off Beach Road for the Hutment Barracks and Shooting Ranges as well as the early establishment of the sport in Fleetwood. Please arrive early. The Museum Friends will hold their April Coffee Morning at the Museum on Wednesday 25th April from 10.30 to 11.30. The previous night will see the Annual General Meeting of the Friends in the Museum at 19.00. Membership stands at well over 100 but we are always pleased to welcome new members.
