• A.D.A.M Appeal will now receive a year’s worth of fundraising and awareness support from the store’s colleagues and customers • Customers were able to vote for their favourite charity to be considered • Fifth year of Local Charity partner initiative • Colleagues now planning fundraising activities over the next few months Sainsbury’s Garstang today announced that A.D.A.M Appeal will receive a year’s worth of fundraising and awareness support. The A.D.A.M raises fund to provide defibrillators to schools, sport clubs and the community and also awareness of how heart attacks can effect not only the old, but also the young.
The scheme, which began in 2009, has raised more than £5 million to support local communities in the last four years. The Sainsbury’s store, situated in Garstang has had great success in supporting previous local charities and last year raised £1,004 for The Legacy Rainbow House. The charity will be using the money to keep helping children with brain injuries. Sainsbury’s Garstang Store Manager said: “We’ve had a great response from our customers and we’re delighted to have chosen a charity which many of our customers and colleagues can associate with. We will now be working closely with the charity to ensure they really benefit from the Local Charity partnership”.

Local Community • Garstang Library Events Summer Reading Challenge Calling all Children! Come along to the Library and take part in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge ‘THE CREEPY HOUSE.’ We challenge you to read 6 books over the summer holidays! It can be any book you choose and for each book you read you will receive a small prize. This year the prizes include stickers, a key fob and a ‘glow in the dark’ wristband! When you have read all six we will present you with a certificate for you to hang on your wall! Also this year the library will be hosting 4 events in connection with the challenge. Thursday 1st August Creepy Crawlies Event Thursday 8th August Funny Bones Craft Event. Craft activities themed around the classic children’s book. Thursday 15th August Rascally Cake Session. Craft activities themed around the classic children’s book. Thursday 29th August Creepy Fun & Games All these events start at 10am and will finish at 11am.
