Design leaflet for Watts Gallery Think about folding Research-oriented
7
Background research about Watts
Some sketches for Watts Chapel
Visitor research
8
Re se arc h I went through all the information I collected on the field trip which includes taking photos, their current leaflets, conversations with the people who work there. And then made this research folder, that helped me to understand what information is vital to be included in the leaflet and what kind of messages to carry out for the gallery to the visitors. Two things after the research that jump out which are the message of Art for all and a sense of art community that people can enjoy in their daily life.
9
10
Fol d i ng I n spi r a t i o n Since I am going to focus on printed map as my outcome, folding is one of the elements to explore. How can add value to the ordinary leaflet without conflict with the style of the gallery? After looking many different references, the most inspiring one is the one of the invitation design of Royal Bank of Scotland from Nick Clark Design.

Amour Island | MA Final Project Product Design : Board Game

Romantic love Explore different forms of illustration Apply social psychologies studies and the influence of mass media
19
Sta rti n g Po i n t This board game was inspired by the social psychologist Dr. Arron, in his social experiment 20 years ago he provided a point that by asking and answering questions to each other could level up the intimacy between people. Even the participants were strangers to each other but most of them did feel closer after the experiment. Therefore I want to develop this game that people can have a reason sit down and have a fun time with each other.
20
There are many pattern and textures that are added into the illustration to make more depth.
Initiating composition for the board design.
21
The idea is that there are people who are trapped on an island of love, so in order to escape the players have to defeat the monsters and success the task that comes along such as answering funny questions or dare task that involving interactions with other players.

W hy movi n g i m a ge s? The center of the story is to show how time becomes visible and meaningful when it comes cross with the human. The reason to make a film is that it also gives the sense of time passing.

SHIANGER S Logo Design
Design Brief /// /// /// ///
Design a logo for a fragrance selective shop, Shiangers. Both in English and Chinese. Deliver at least three concepts for the client to choose from. Could be more experimental about the initial concept.
43
1 Hand Script

[Xiang] Fragrance

44
Insp irati on s Since the fragrance products this shop represent are old Europen brands such as Bronnley, Disna, Somerset and English soap, so I chose to use a dip pen to create script logo. Try to present a sense of flowing and lingering.
45
2 Beaker
Ad ve n tu rous Since one of the creators of the most important brand of the shop, S HI Bronnley, valued the scientific and experimenting respect of smells,ANG so I added in the shape of the beaker GERS and also implies that the shop is the container of exciting sense.

Eventually, clients like the last design so keep on polishing the details and try to make the outline cleaner and smoother. And applying the same style onto the Chinese characters.

地瓜車 Logo Design
Design Brief /// Local food shop logo design /// Easy to recognize logo /// Design one paper bag and two postcard
62
[kao] Rosted
The logo is an inked brush illustration, it was an old tricycle with an oven on the top. The shop is a logo shop for selling baked sweet potato over 40 years since1976, the first owner was riding around and selling sweet potato with it. Roasted sweet potato is a traditional snack in Taiwan, especially in winter time.

63
The shop is rather small and humble also as the food, so the colour palette reflects the idea of earthy and warmth. In order to keep it authentic, I used the brown paper bag and save some budget for the client.
64
Apply the logo onto stamp to enhance the idea of old school style.
Same as for the slogan of the shop “Eat healthily” “Eat delightfully”
First Postcard design for the shop to give away. Develop from the paper bag with the illustration of the creator of the business.
65
O th e r I d e a s Most of the people who shop their daily food or snack without knowing how it’s been made so I want to design this post card to show the customers how a traditional backed sweet potato is made. And since most of the customers of the shop are young females so I want the second postcard could be a bit more playful so apply a brighter colour palette also with vector illustration on the visual result.

TAICHUNG CITY COMMUNITY INTERGRATION Mural Design Brief /// A mural project with Cultural Affairs Bureau, Taichung City Government /// Nantun District, Taichung City community integration program /// In total 52.2 square meter mural
69
M u r a l fo r t h e c o mm u n i t y The project takes place in a small community in Taichung Taiwan, it is about using the history of this neighbourhood with a mural to connect people within the community. There are an old grocery store, a small train that used to passing here carry sugar cane, also an old profession of reproducing pigs. It’s an old neighbourhood with many elderly people and young toddlers so the colour scheme is bright and joyful.

WEDDING Logo Design
Design Brief /// Logo design for a wedding /// Hand drew logo with flowers /// Wedding invitation card cover illustration design
75
76
T h e I de a The idea is that the bouquet is tied by the names of the bride and groom. I hand drawn the outline of the logo and digital colouring, and giving texture by adding noise effect. The couple is rather low profile so I choose the low contrast colour combinations.
77
I n vi tati on C a r d The theme of the illustration is the joy of spring wedding. And on the back are two pets of the couple and the character is the traditional simple that goes on Taiwan’s wedding which means two joy.

84
Co ncep t The project is to use ‘Eraser’ to develop a visual story. I start with investigating the different shape of erasers, trying out different drawing styles and developing the story slowly by their features. Drawing with the pencil seems reasonable since the main character is a pencil man. There are three other Korean illustrators that participate together to publish it and sell the copies in London Gosh comics.
