Welcome to The City of Liverpool College If you choose to study at The City of Liverpool College you will be joining one of the largest Further Education colleges in the sector and a community of more than 17,000 students. The City of Liverpool College is the first choice for post-16 quality education in Liverpool. Careers in Health and Care and the Sport and Leisure industry are wide and varied. The NHS currently employs 1.7m people but figures for growth estimate an additional 43,500 health care staff will be needed in the north west alone by 2020. The sport and leisure industry is one of the UK’s key growth areas with 440,000 new jobs to be created in the sector by 2020. It provides jobs for 730,000 16-25 year olds – 21% of all 16-25 year olds in employment – and generates over £200 billion in revenue each year. The region’s Visitor Economy currently supports 37,000 service industry jobs in retail, hotels, restaurants, conference venues, visitor attractions, cultural institutions, transport and tours, and the creative industries. The natural attractions and wealth of culture and heritage sites in the area will help the Visitor Economy grow from its current £1.3 billion annual turnover to an estimated £2 billion by 2020. As the only Further Education College in Liverpool, we are helping to meet the demand for skilled people in these sectors by employing dynamic teachers who are experienced industry professionals. Our successful apprenticeship programmes produce apprentices and skilled workers trained in the latest industry techniques and equipped with the knowledge and skills employers want in new recruits to the sector.

In the heart of the City The City of Liverpool College has six main sites – five of which are in the heart of the City – providing one of the best student experiences in further education. Liverpool’s biggest attractions, including: Liverpool One; the Albert Dock; Bold Street; and the cultural quarter, are on the College’s doorstep, providing a perfect backdrop to your studies. The College is also located within the City’s Knowledge Quarter, including Liverpool John Moore’s University and the University of Liverpool, giving the area a real student atmosphere. The college sites are also easily accessible from rail and bus stations. Sites including the Arts Centre, Learning Exchange, Clarence Street and Duke Street are within easy walking distance of both Central and Lime Street train stations and the main bus terminus.

Campus Health and Care Bankfield Road L13 0BQ; Clarence Street L3 5TP; Duke Street L1 5BG; Vauxhall Road L3 5TP Courses in Health and Care are delivered in either Clarence Street (16-18s and Access to HE) or Bankfield Road (adults); with the exception of First Aid courses (Duke Street) and the Dental Technology course (Vauxhall Road). All students have access to well-resourced facilities including modern teaching rooms and laboratories kitted out with the latest, industry-specialist equipment.

Service Industries Duke Street, L1 5BG Duke Street is the central location for all apprenticeships, Further Education and Higher Education courses in catering, hospitality, travel, tourism and leisure as well as hair, beauty and holistic therapies. The Academy Restaurant, Academy Hair, Beauty and Holistic Therapy Salons, The Graduate Hair Salon and The Academy CafĂŠ are all located here in purpose built, industry standard facilities. These commercial ventures provide authentic working environments for apprentices and students in training and offer first-rate food produce and services and hair and beauty treatments to the public at highly competitive prices. Campus The bakery department holds the ‘badge of excellence’ from the National Skills Academy for Food and Drink Manufacturing. It joins an elite membership of providers recognised by the industry for its expertise in bakery and confectionery training.

Sport and Leisure The Learning Exchange, Roscoe Street, L1 9DW The College’s Sports and Leisure provision is located in this flagship, City Centre campus. These modern, purpose built facilities house the latest equipment and include full size sports hall, hi-tech sports labs and spacious, air conditioned gym and fitness studio. The curriculum not only supports the development of students’ abilities but also underpins these skills with other essential life and work qualities such as team work, communication and leadership.
