TANTZ IN CONCERT

LIBERTY ROCKS THE WHEREVER PEOPLE Two sisters, as close and as quarrelsome as all sisters are, travel the world in their magical miniature Romany wagon, on a quest to collect and share all the stories in existence. Become immersed in traditional Syrian, Scottish, Ghanaian, Australian and Native American folktales and migration stories; of shipwrecks and mermaids, knights and monsters, terrible captures and amazing escapes, stinky wizards and daft young boys, happy love and lost love, adventures and dangers, and beating the meanies. A fabulous, fun, interactive storytelling show and play session for younger children.

TANGRAM THEATRE THE ORIGIN OF SPECIES… This uproarious, critically acclaimed one-man musical-comedy tells of Charles Darwin's revolutionary discovery of the secrets of evolution. Packed with fascinating scientific facts, terrible puns, brilliant physical comedy and witty original songs, this is an absolutely charming load of monkey business.

‘Remarkably inventive, thoroughly entertaining… 19th century science can rarely have been so fascinating and never so much fun.’

NICHOLAS COLLETT YOUR BARD William Shakespeare – the greatest playwright the world has ever seen? Or a fraud? In a superb and very funny one-man show, Royal Shakespeare Company actor Nicholas Collett takes audiences on a journey through the life of the world's most famous writer: his childhood, his glory days at the Globe, his ardent defence of his reputation. Mingling biography with snapshots of Elizabethan life and snippets from his plays, and packed with emotional punches and entertaining punchlines, this is a piece of pure theatre magic.

'OWDYADO THEATRE A VIEW FROM THE EDGE BADAPPLE THEATRE SALSA VERDE A smart-stepping new comedy with some sublime music and sultry dancing; the story of two love-triangles set decades apart, of a wartime dancehall tryst, and of a battle to win the heart of the village hall salsa dance teacher. Charming, engaging, with genuinely delightful performances, this affectionate and comic play puts its funniest foot forward. Ages: 10+ Sun 08 Oct 7.30pm Salt Village Hall ST18 0BW 01889 508 284

1950: Charlie Daniels, a private eye hired by the seductive Elise Hillerman to track down her disappeared husband. Now: Charlotte and Dan struggle to write the new film noir-inspired theatre show you are actually watching. Influenced by cult filmmakers Charlie Kaufman and David Lynch, this deftly woven narrative of stories within stories is wittily and elegantly performed. And as fiction turns into reality and back again, as stories spin, fragment and entangle with each other, one question arises: whose reality is real? A little gem of a show. SARAH MOULE LADY BE GOOD! THE ELLA FITZGERALD SONGBOOK

THEATRE CHIPPING NORTON SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE CRIMSON COBBLES

'A first-rate set ' (Sunday Times) marking the centenary of the first lady of song, the incomparable Ella Fitzgerald. Exquisite interpretations of some of the greatest songs of the 20th Century are here performed with exuberance, style and wit by two of the UK's top jazz-cabaret performers, the truly stunning singer Sarah Moule and superlative pianist Simon Wallace.

Murder! Mystery! Mayhem! A witty, laugh-a-minute pastiche of Conan Doyle's great detective, this fast paced, quirky and deeply daft retelling of one of the darkest times in Victorian history sees Holmes stalking Jack the Ripper in the streets of London's East End. But when the evidence points to only one possible conclusion – that the Ripper is actually Sherlock's trusted sidekick Dr Watson – is our super sleuth prepared to believe the unbelievable? A kinetic, boisterous, jokefuelled treat... tirelessly superb.

Pentabus are an absolutely fantastic 'new writing' company and one of British theatre's unsung treasures. Here, they summon into being one extraordinary day in an average British village. Wolves have occupied Middleton. Someone must know where they came from. Someone must be able to do something about them. A thoroughly engaging new comedy looking at re-wilding the countryside – and an exploration of just how much wild we're comfortable with – by Olivier-nominated playwright Joel Horwood (Best Entertainment, Best Family Production). Superbly crafted, beautifully directed, acted with verve: a brilliantly engaging piece. ★★★★

TANGRAM THEATRE TEAM VIKING

NEW PERSPECTIVES THEATRE HARVEST

Tender poignancy and comic touches of sheer brilliance abound in this hugely acclaimed comic ode to death and friendship from the highly innovative Tangram Theatre.

A compelling and colourful Yorkshire farming saga, this darkly entertaining comedy tells the story of one family's tireless fight for survival in a changing agricultural landscape, over two world wars, generations of births, deaths and marriages, and a lifetime of farming.

Full of 'magnificently clever' (The Guardian) comedy-theatre and threaded through with exquisite live music, this outlandish story of how one man gave his terminally ill best friend the full Viking funeral he'd always dreamed of, is remarkable. Deeply personal, deeply felt and delightfully comic. ★★★★★

From Richard Bean, writer of the international hit One Man, Two Guvnors, this is a great play, vividly told and laced with humour.

GARLIC THEATRE JACK AND THE BEANS TALK

FARNHAM MALTINGS THEATRE BRILLIANCE

JAMES HICKMAN & DAN CASSIDY IN CONCERT

A lovely retelling of the classic English fairy tale – of a cow to sell, a helpful stranger, magic beans, ginormous beanstalk, child-eating giant, beautiful princess, adventure, gold, and happily ever after – by one of England's leading puppet companies. With a show so full of beans, this must surely be the best children's show in town.

1963, winter. Everyone gathers in the village hall. Daisy places her hand on the switch, presses it down, and life is never the same again.

In much the same way as the brilliant Transatlantic Sessions does, Britain's premiere AngloAmerican folk-roots duo embraces the shared heritage of country and Celtic music, with James Hickman's emotive, soaring vocals, driving guitar and lively English wit set against Dan Cassidy's virtuosic fiddling and bone-dry American drawl. An evening of classy and exquisite musicianship.

‘Something special.’

A warm, energetic and humorous musical-theatre show charting the lifechanging impact of electricity arriving in the village, illuminating every corner of local life. GARLIC THEATRE LITTLE RED ROBIN HOOD 'What big eyes you have… sheriff… sorry …grandma.' With great charm, enormous wit and a good deal of slapstick glove puppet inventiveness, two familiar tales are interwoven in a fast and funny show for family audiences. A brave Robin Hood goes on a quest to find the missing Little Red Riding Hood, helped by a kind bunny rabbit and hindered by a whacky old wolf who looks more than a little like the Sheriff of Nottingham. A feel-good comedy alternative to a classic panto, making good use of the magic of puppetry, physical theatre and the songs of BBC Folk Awards 2015 nominee Jez Lowe to delight family audiences. Ages: 5+ Part of the Live & Local Launchpad CYP programme (firing the imagination of children and young people).

THE FB POCKET ORCHESTRA IN CONCERT A richly enjoyable night of hot jazz, blues, ragtime and popular dances that hint at jazz age 1920s and swing era 1930s; New Orleans, tea dances, Paris Cafés, and sophisticated, smoky nightclubs.
