THIRD ANGEL CAPE WRATH An epic journey in a stationary minibus; a quietly charming, compellingly intimate, gently humourous, sometimes touchingly sad, solo storytelling show for 14 audience members at a time. Meditating on family history, acts of remembrance, and of the longest bus journey in Britain, to Cape Wrath, the most north-westerly point of Scotland, this is a totally involving little one-off experience.
‘Plenty of charm… heartfelt and significant.’ The Scotsman
‘Heavenly work.’ The Guardian
‘Consistently innovative and challenging…. extraordinary performances.’ The Times Ages: 12+
CAT WEATHERILL & NAOMI PAUL TRUTH & TRUFFLES A fabulous two-header delivered by wonderfully gifted performers, the compelling and masterful storyteller Cat Weatherill and the satirical and hilarious deadpan comic Naomi Paul. Irresistibly blending humour and heart, this is a captivating and beautifully crafted show for adults, of stories, comedy songs and musings about being a grown up, and the little indulgencies that make life worth living (chocolate).
‘A magical performer… a masterclass in enchantment… vivid storyteller's gifts.’ The Times (on Cat Weatherill)
PEACOCK ANGELL TRIO IN CONCERT A superb set of wonderfully eclectic music coloured by country, blues, jazz and folk. The beautiful vocals and spirited fiddle of Ruth Angell – best-known as a member of Ashley Hutchings' Rainbow Chasers – are matched all the way by the dextrous guitar of Sid Peacock and Steve Tromans' thrilling piano. ★★★★ Financial Times

PENTABUS THEATRE WOLVES ARE COMING FOR YOU
NEW PERSPECTIVES THEATRE HARVEST
Pentabus are an absolutely fantastic 'new writing' company and one of British theatre's unsung treasures. Here, they summon into being one extraordinary day in an average British village. Wolves have occupied Middleton. Someone must know where they came from. Someone must be able to do something about them.
A compelling and colourful Yorkshire farming saga, this darkly entertaining comedy tells the story of one family's tireless fight for survival in a changing agricultural landscape, over two world wars, generations of births, deaths and marriages, and a lifetime of farming.
A thoroughly engaging new comedy looking at re-wilding the countryside – and an exploration of just how much wild we're comfortable with – by Olivier-nominated playwright Joel Horwood (Best Entertainment, Best Family Production). Superbly crafted, beautifully directed, acted with verve: a brilliantly engaging piece.
From Richard Bean, writer of the international hit One Man, Two Guvnors, this is a great play, vividly told and laced with humour.
‘Top notch.’ The Guardian

SPITZ & CO. GLORILLA Recounting the life-changing jungle adventures of the French artist-diva/explorer Gloria Delaneuf and her hapless and wonderfully long-suffering assistant Josephine as they follow in the tracks of Diane Fossey to communicate with gorillas. Ingenious and hilariously funny this is fantastic comedy-theatre, with the award-winning and absolutely brilliant French/English performers holding the audience spellbound and in stitches with their slapstick physicality and pitch perfect wordplay.
NICHOLAS COLLETT YOUR BARD William Shakespeare – the greatest playwright the world has ever seen? Or a fraud? In a superb and very funny one-man show, Royal Shakespeare Company actor Nicholas Collett takes audiences on a journey through the life of the world's most famous writer: his childhood, his glory days at the Globe, his ardent defence of his reputation. Mingling biography with snapshots of Elizabethan life and snippets from his plays, and packed with emotional punches and entertaining punchlines, this is a piece of pure theatre magic.
‘Very funny.’ The Guardian
‘Lively and engaging, full of humour and audience interaction.’
‘A great show by a hysterical female double act. Catch them now before they are selling out at the Albert Hall.’

A clever reimagining of the Joan of Arc legend via cabaret, hobby horses, stick-on beards and audience participation (in the battle scenes), this triumphant solo show is packed with fierce energy, comic fizz and uproarious songs, and teeters between supreme silliness and poignant heartbreak.
1963, winter. Everyone gathers in the village hall. Daisy places her hand on the switch, presses it down, and life is never the same again.
A well-deserved multi-award winning success which has run and run since its debut at Derby Playhouse in 2015, JOAN is captivatingly written, immaculately performed and thoroughly entertaining. ★★★★ The Stage ★★★★ The Scotsman Ages: 12+ JOAN is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, and the BBC Performing Arts Legacy Fund.

A warm, energetic and humorous musical-theatre show charting the life-changing impact of electricity arriving in the village, illuminating every corner of local life. As evening descends into darkness, 240 volts of alternating current and the humble light bulb allows the village to find its voice and sing long into the night. A real joy that lights up an audience.

ARLETTY THEATRE STINXVILLE
LOUISE JORDAN NO PETTICOATS HERE A gutsy and meticulouslyresearched stories-in-song telling of largely forgotten reallife tales of female heroism in World War I. With poignant, passionate and haunting folk songs compellingly sung, gifted musicianship and an engaging stage presence, No Petticoats Here sparkles with personality and personalities, a beautiful and eloquent tribute to exceptional women. ★★★★ Daily Express
This wonderfully enjoyable family-friendly antidote to Christmas pantos mixes energetic and irreverent storytelling with an offbeat quirkiness and uproarious live music, telling of the 'Stinxvillains' quest through their beloved Wicked City, for cake. Divinely silly clowning, ramshackle music hall varieties, steampunkery, jokes, circus jazz, gypsy tango and mariachi music, the catchiest of songs, Can-Can dancing, slow-motion Kung-Fu fights, fun-filled capers, thrills and spills, riotous rebellion. Check, check, check – all are excellently here, present and correct. Fabulous steampunk fun for all.
ADVERSE CAMBER DREAMING THE NIGHT FIELD: A LEGEND OF WALES By turns thrilling, funny, powerful and poetic, this mingling of epic bilingual storytelling and exquisitely haunting folk music casts a potent spell. Vividly evoking the Fourth Branch of the Mabinogion – a treasured medieval Welsh mythology which also inspired Alan Garner's modern classic The Owl Service – this is an electrifying show. Splendid entertainment.
JEZ LOWE & THE BAD PENNIES YULE DO A rousing festive show from Geordieland with BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2015 doublenominee Jez Lowe and his terrific band. NORTHUMBERLAND THEATRE COMPANY THE PRINCESS AND THE GOBLIN A fast and funny pocket-sized family theatre show beautifully retelling George MacDonald's magical children's book, one of the most unusual and haunting fairy tales ever written. The young Princess Irene lives in a castle; beneath it, evil goblins tunnel to kidnap her for their hideous goblin prince. Overcoming her childhood fears Irene must fight the goblins to save her father's kingdom. With brilliant humour, fabulous choreography and lovely singing, this is an infectiously fun show for all ages, of growing up, making friends and the importance of family.
DON KIPPER IN CONCERT This jaunty, multi-lingual, multiaward winning seven-piece ensemble are remarkable young exponents of klezmer and traditional styles from Greece, Turkey and the Balkans, reflecting the cultural diversity and living traditions of their North East London home. Weaving unbridled musical passion with virtuosic mastery, their uptempo good-time shows are exquisitely freewheeling.
‘Sure to send shivers down your spine.’ Songlines Magazine
‘So tight it sounds like one divine entity is playing the band.’
BADAPPLE THEATRE THE ELVES AND THE CARPENTER
THE BONE ENSEMBLE WHERE'S MY IGLOO GONE?
Who will help Santa as crisis hits Christmas toy making time? Not the Elves, they've not been seen since last year when they packed their cases and headed off. A whirlwind journey ensues as Mrs. Claus tries to wrestle victory from defeat. A feel-good comedy alternative to a classic panto, making good use of the magic of puppetry, physical theatre and the songs of BBC Folk Awards 2015 nominee Jez Lowe to delight family audiences.
A beautiful, fun and interactive musical-storytelling family show of an ordinary girl's extraordinary quest to save her igloo home, journeying through a dazzling, icy world of husky dogs, starry nights and snowstorms. And the kind of cold that makes your skin tingle. Grounded in science, powered by the imagination, and staged in the round so everyone can see and take part, this dazzling Arctic adventure engages audiences with climate change in a positive, refreshing new way. Truly magical. Children's theatre at its best.
