How the scheme works… Through the Leap into Live Music! programme, Liverpool Philharmonic subsidises free and discounted tickets for people to experience live music events. We offer a range of performances across our varied programme from orchestral performances to Rock ‘n’ Pop concerts and film screenings.
What to do if you can’t make an event… If you can’t make an event, we ask that you let us know as soon as you can. This will enable us to offer the tickets to other Leap members and make sure that the seats don’t go to waste. If you have a family emergency or something crops up don’t worry, but we’d appreciate that you let us know once things have settled down. We have a three strikes rule for members who consistently book, fail to attend and don’t let us know. This enables us to prioritise members who really want tickets.

The Transatlantic Sessions
Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra
Beethoven’s Fifth Thursday 30 January 7.30pm Liverpool Philharmonic Hall
Monday 3 February 7.30pm Liverpool Philharmonic Hall
Prokofiev Suite, The Love for Three Oranges Kenneth Hesketh Uncoiling the River (English premiere, Joint Liverpool Philharmonic commission with BBC National Orchestra of Wales) Beethoven Symphony No.5
The 17th live edition of the Transatlantic Sessions once again highlights a fresh cross-generational array of Scottish, Irish and US special guests joining the regular all-star instrumental line-up.
Vasily Petrenko conductor Clare Hammond piano Billy Joel called it ‘the biggest hit of all time’. Everyone knows the first four notes of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, and that sensational opening is just the start of one of the most thrilling adventures in all of western music. We couldn’t celebrate Beethoven’s anniversary year without it, but Vasily Petrenko is starting the concert the way Beethoven would have wanted – with something bold and new by Liverpool’s own Kenneth Hesketh, specially created for pianist Clare Hammond.
Under the annual musical direction of Shetland fiddler Aly Bain and multi-Grammy-winning dobro maestro Jerry Douglas, the accompanying instrumental dream-team once again features Russ Barenberg, Phil Cunningham, John Doyle , Michael McGoldrick, John McCusker, Donald Shaw, Daniel Kimbro and James Mackintosh. ‘No other concert series I know of is as downright joyous as these long-running celebrations of Celtic and American traditional music’ The Times
