Welcome to our 18th annual bull & female sale. We would like to thank our customer base who have chosen our program as the source of their herd bulls and replacement females over the past 18 years. It pleases us to continue to see customer herd bull pens that consist of predominatly Crescent Creek bulls. We hope our philosophy of raising Angus cattle that fit the various needs of an ever growing and prosperous beef industry will make you consider using our program again.

As in the past, our offerings are solid from top to bottom. The bulls offered will fill any needs. They have never been pampered or overfed. Your requirements for herd bulls is always on our minds; whether it is feeding of sale bulls or the selection of new herd bulls. Our selection of females also offers lots of excitement, as we have chosen a cross section of replacements from our very consistent cow families. On this summer’s Angus Tour we received many compliments of the udder quality, feet, and legs of our cow herd. Over sixty years of selection and breeding has its dividends. We are very confident these young females will continue on in the Crescent Creek tradition. In this offering, you will be able to select females that will be able to fit into any embryo program, compete in a show class, and be able to swath graze and lick snow. They offer outcross genetics that are proven and predictable. Just a note, the cattle will sell on video again this year, but we have opted out of a video internet broadcast sale online. What do the numbers mean?

For most commercial cattlemen, there are really only four EPDs they need to look at: birth weight (BW); weaning weight (WW); yearling weight (YW); and milk. The others, with perhaps the exception of the carcass traits, are more useful for purbred breeders.

Birth Weight - Calf weight at birth adjusted to a mature dam equivalent. Expected progeny differnce is reported in pounds. The larger the EPD indicates a heavier average birth weight

Weaning Weight - Calf weight taken between 160 and 250 days of age and adjusted to 205 days of age and a mature dam equivalent. Expected progeny difference is reported in pounds. The larger EPD indicates a heavier average weaning weight for calves sired by that bull.

Yearling Weight - Weight taken between 330 and 440 days of age and adjusted 365 days of age and a mature dam equivelant.

Expected progeny difference is reported in pounds. The larger EPD indicates a heavier average yearling weight for calves sired by that bull

Milk - The milk EPD is a predictor of a sires genetic merit for milk as expressed in his daughters, or in other words the part of weaning

At a modest $2/lb you realize an extra $5400. If you have been paying $4000 for your bulls, this added revenue would allow you to pay an extra $4000-$5000 per bull. As well extra benefits from adequate bull power will mean less open cows, a tighter calving season and more uniformity – these all reflect in higher premiums. These are the management decisions that you as a producer can make to contribute to a greater bottom line for your operation. Enjoy the rewards of the beef industry to the fullest.

Video Sale

All bulls will be penned outside prior & during the sale. Cattle will be sold by video. No cattle will enter the ring

weight attributed to milk genes. The larger EPD indicates heavier average weaning weight due to daughters greater maternal ability.

Calving Ease

Bulls have been rated (in our opinion) on calving ease ability * - recommended on cows ** - moderate birth *** - indicates calving ease elite

Feeding Program

As in past years, our bulls have been grown out and never “pushed”. We appreciate the fact these young bulls have to last year after year at your place. The bulls were hand fed a bull ration consisting of high levels of protein and no barley. They were fed to achieve an average daily gain of 3 pounds. Free choice brome hay was also fed. The females were swath grazing from October 15 to December 1st with no added grain or pellets. They were then fed a rolled oat ration to achieve approximately 2lbs per day rate of gain.

Herd Health

The vaccination program consisted of Express 5 and blackleg shots. All breeding females & bulls will have had their pre-breeding Express 5 vaccine and blackleg booster prior to the sale. The cattle have had plenty of exercise in large pens, and are very free moving.

It might sound like hyperbole, but we truly feel that this year’s batch of heifers is one of our most exciting offerings in years. Deciding what to sell and what to keep was all the more difficult this year. This is an offering of replacement females who all could have stayed home and continued to perform. But we wanted to offer the full selection of our brood cow base to our customers. Customers who demand strong and well recognized cow families that have raised exceptional bulls for the past 45 years. Be it a strong string of two year old bulls sold over 15 years at the Regina Bull Sale, over 400 bulls sold privately to a ranch in Idaho, or 18 consecutive on farm sales.

Some of the sire groups we chose are larger than others in order to give you an opportunity to purchase ½ and ¾ sisters in volume. We have also offered females out of breed-leading AI sires. Here is an opportunity to start new cow families or become involved in one of the greatest breeds around. We decided to do this at a time when everyone is gearing up to buy herd sires. This is a great time to make an investment and gain some excellent genetics. Our heifers are offered at a 60% sale day, 40 % October 1st 2016 payment plan. Why do we do this? We believe in our product, our herd, and our pedigree. We are a seed stock producer with bloodlines built and proven over sixty years.
