Welcome to the Double G Simmentals purebred dispersal. When we started this enterprise all those years ago, we probably never gave a thought to this day ever coming but here it is!
We started in this business as young teenagers with no background in purebred cattle, showing, marketing, etc. It all looked pretty glamorous with those nice clean, trimmed cattle at shows and sales that sold at much higher prices than we had ever heard of and we aspired to that aspect of the industry. Little did we know that it required a lot of knowledge, management and vision and we had none of that. We got some help and advice from some great breeders and industry professionals and slowly, very slowly, we began to gain an appreciation for the commitment required to succeed. We learned what type of cattle worked in our environment and that of our customers, and in the ensuing years have built a cow herd, bull battery, and customer base that we are pretty happy with and that is what we offer in this sale.
The cows are a factory to produce bulls for our customers and they have been doing a great job of that under some tough conditions the last number of years. The 2024 calves in the sale are a testament to that as they were raised without creep feed and have done what they’ve done only on their dam’s ability to produce. Many of these calves are among the best we have offered and definitely do justice to our program.
As we have done in the past years, we held back some young 2023 bulls to sell as rising two-year-olds. These bulls are April born and were never offered for sale as yearlings. They are excellent quality and will do a lot of good for their new owners.
The bred heifers are of course the group that were to become the future of our cow herd and are an impressive group that we are confident will become outstanding producers for years to come.
The herd bulls we are offering are in the prime of their life and are producing the quality of offspring, both males and females, that we expected when we selected them from their respective programs. They have developed into great bulls of which we and their breeders can be proud.
We will miss the purebred business and we will miss this herd. But what made this such an enjoyable journey was, and is, the wonderful people we have encountered along the way. We are always amazed that the people who start as customers become some of our best friends and that is the part we will miss the most.
We intend to keep a limited commercial herd so that will help keep us involved in the cattle industry and connected with its fine people.

The Goodsmans’ Double G Simmentals isn’t a new name to the business by any means! Definitely the business model has always been structured to cater to the commercial side of the business. They have developed a great following of repeat customers who annually buy their bulls through the Advantage Bull Sale. They operate a Simmental cross commercial herd, and will continue to, which they have seen success with their bred heifers at Canadian Western Agribition! Look for their group entered again this year!
To expand more on the bull sale achievements, a comment I think we make every year at the Advantage, is how good the foot quality is on the offering. It’s obviously been a priority in building this herd over all these years. As I said earlier, they have developed a great repeat following, the soundness of them, the responsible development practices and solid custom service have all attributed to this. Bull sale highlights also include some who have “rang the bell” and sold for a top dollar to other purebred breeders.
To follow up that paragraph, bull sale success often comes to those breeders who take their own bull sale shopping seriously. The herd sires included in the sale plus the reference sires whom have moved on to “greener pastures” and other past herd bulls validate this. The herd sires on offer are excellent and only being 2 year olds, they offer a ton of potential to their next owner.
A very interesting fact on the cowherd, is ALL OF THEM (less one), are home grown and carry the Double G tattoo! This closed herd offers the years of internal development and how the replacements were selected for all the right traits that are necessary for economic success. Along that same line, culling has been executed in a form that only would better the herd again for all those same traits desirable such as foot quality, general soundness, udders, fertility and disposition.
This a dispersal in its ENTIRETY, including the FINAL DOUBLE G BULL SALE! Plus the fact that the design for decades in the cowherd has been focused to creating bulls to sell to the commercial sector. All cows have to carry their weight or they had to leave. There’s a lot of realistic opportunity available on December 30.
That summarizes the cattle. I would be remiss if I didn’t talk on the character of the people. Garry and Glenn Goodsman are “salt of the earth” people who don’t have a dishonest bone in their body. Their humble demeanors and amicable nature are BIG attributes to the developed repeat clientele. These gentlemen and their family have become good friends over the years.

Bull Wintering Options
Double G Simmentals are offering a bull development and wintering program for the 2024 bull calves only.
Any bull calf selling for $6,000.00 or more will be wintered for free and receive a passing semen test by the age of 15 months.
Any bull calf selling for less than $6,000.00 will be wintered and semen tested for a $750.00 fee that will be added at time of invoice. We are unable to guarantee bulls that are taken to the buyer’s home from the sale.
Double G Herd Health Information
The cows, bred heifers, and bulls are on an annual vaccination program of Bovi-shield Gold FP-5.
The cow herd is on the Scour Boss 9 program and the bred heifers have received their initial dose of Scour Boss 4.
The calves have been double vaccinated with Bovi-shield Gold One Shot and Tasvax 8. All cattle have been treated with Ivermectin.

TERMS - The terms of the sale are cash, cheque, e-transfer, or wire and are due at the time of sale, unless other arrangements have been made between buyer and seller prior to the sale. Transcon reserves the right to charge interest at a rate of 2.5% per month on overdue accounts. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should any purchaser fail to settle for their purchase Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage either publicly or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. Transcon Livestock Corp and/or the Auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or who has not made proper credit clearance prior to the sale with the owner or Sale Managers.
BID - Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder.
SALES TAXES – Applicable sales taxes will be charged on semen, embryos and trucking fees (if listed), respective to the home province of the buyer, not the seller.
DISPUTES - In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final.
PURCHASER’S RISK - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.
INFORMATION SUPPLIED - The information contained in this catalogue is believed to be true and accurate. However, the information has been supplied by the seller and neither Transcon Livestock Corp. nor catalogue designer/producer assumes any responsibility if the information supplied is not accurate.
CATTLE PICTURES - The images in this catalogue are believed to be accurate representations of the individual animals. Transcon Livestock Corp. and catalogue designers/producers assume no responsibility if the images as received have been altered.
ANNOUNCEMENTS from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements.
CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY - A registration/recordation certificate issued by the applicable breed association and duly
transferred will be furnished to the buyer of each animal after settlement has been made. It is the responsibility of the buyer to determine the acceptance of this certificate in any other association.
SHIPPING - Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale but no risk is assumed by the Sales Management or Seller. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instructions when making settlement.
GUARANTEE - As this is a dispersal sale all cattle will be selling as is with no further guarantee. However, bred females will be pregnancy tested and results along with any pertinent information known to the owners will be announced from the auction block
HEALTH - It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state. Transcon Livestock Corp. assumes no responsibility for the health status of any animal in the sale.
ACCIDENTS - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, auctioneer consignors. or Association assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property.
RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS - The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

IS AGENT ONLY - It is to be clearly understood that Transcon Livestock Corp. is only acting as a medium between buyer and seller and is not in any way responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations, neither does Transcon Livestock Corp. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties, and any legal action that may, in exceptional cases, be taken, must be between buyer and seller.The Auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or who has not made proper credit clearance prior to the sale with the owner or Sale Managers.
