On behalf of Julie-Anne, Matthew, Elise and Avery, I would like to welcome you to our 5th Annual Private Treaty Bull Sale. As we changed the focus and the way we did business in 2020, we continue to refine the experience for you, our customers. The focus of our business should always be on the customer and by changing the format of our marketing, we feel we have more time to explore your needs and how we can better meet them.
It’s been a busy 5 years from being awarded Purebred Breeder of the Year in 2021 to celebrating 40 years of membership in the Canadian Charolais Association in 2022 and being honoured as the Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce Ag Business of the Year in 2023. The biggest success of all is continuing to grow our business and refining the cattle we are bringing to market. With 150 cows calving between the Winter and Fall calving programs, we continue to cull harder and create a cowherd that will thrive in any environment.
You will find as you look through the offering, lots of full, three quarter and half siblings allowing you as a customer put together bulls to create the calf crop that you need. There are no accidents in this offering. We have gone to great lengths to find herd bulls to build programs on and not just the next most popular sire. Every breeding decision is made with you in mind.
This bull pen offers a large and growing offering of extra age bulls with a solid set of yearling bulls to meet your needs. These pens of bulls are built on some simple fundamentals – good temperament, sound udders and impeccable feet. After those we need to see easy fleshing, with loads of hair, top, middle with calving ease and ability to grow. Our cowherd also needs to meet these requirements and welcome you to tour through the cows at any time.
We will once again have an open house at the Farm, Saturday February 1st from 10am – 4pm where we will have lunch on and beverages. But feel free to stop at the yard anytime to look through the bulls and cows.

Our Managment Program
The bulls are covered with a full herd health program. They have received the Zoetis vaccination program - Bovi-Shield Gold One Shot and Ultrabac Somnus at spring processing and a Bovi-Shield booster at weaning. The bulls were Ivomec’d in December. The extra aged bulls will be semen tested the week prior to the sale. Yearling bulls will be palpated and measured by a vet the week prior to the sale and then semen evaluated in March.
The yearling bulls were quiet weaned in September. They are developed on a ration of pellets, corn silage, protein supplement and hay to promote slow and healthy growth and ensure good hoof health. The bulls are fed a TMR based ration to ensure every bull is receiving the right mix of nutrients along with a chelated Right Now and Flaxlic Tub Mineral Program. We feel this will help testicle development and semen quality scores.
The ranch is a certified Verified Beef Production Plus operation. We see the value in the industry driven sustainability program as VBP+ is one of the certification bodies for the Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef. As purebred breeders, we believe that it’s imperative to work to move the bar on sustainability standards and are committed to doing our part.

Terms of Sale
• All bulls available for viewing at any time.
• Bulls will be available to purchasing on or after 11:00 am February 1st, 2025.
• 50% down payment will be required to hold your bull.
• Bull will be measured and palpated by a veterinarian prior to February 1st, 2025.
• All bulls will be semen tested by May 1st, 2025. If your bull does not pass his semen test, we have held back a select group of bulls to replace them.
• Free delivery on bulls delivered at our convenience prior to May 1st, 2025 within a 250 km radius.
• Delivery will be done at a nominal cost outside that radius.
• Bulls are available to stay after the 1st of May but will be charged $100 yardage and delivery if kept after that.
• Buyers are encouraged to be insured after purchase. We will not be liable for loss or injury after purchase.

HKS Mario 22M is a bull that we feel has a lot of potential. 22M has hair, bone, mass, stretch and muscle to boot on an amazing foot. That coupled with being out of one of our best cows out there and a future donor – HKS 203F. 22M’s full brother – HKS Lonestar 5L has gone on to work at HEJ Charolais in Innisfail.

There is something predictable about breeding both sides of a pedigree. HKS JP 16J is one of our own top end bulls sold to Charla Moore Charolais in 2022.
