Around a table, on stairs, on the floor - we like to sit down in very different places and situations and the way we do is depending on the sort of situation we are in. We enter into a relation with the spacial properties of our surrounding and with other people.
The chair, or whatever surface serves as such, is a stable, seemingly immovable component in this interaction, whereas the flexible body tries to adapt to various conditions.
In this sense the surface becomes platform, becomes base and host for things to happen.
These chairs are not only neutral spectators but actors with personalities that gives us a base for
stories to happen and tell us stories themselves.
They are revealing what sort of social interactions they might give place to in intuitive, visual ways.
Imposing certain positions onto who is using the seat they create or recreate a certain disposition.
they determine to a greater extend what kind of relation is created between the users.
