2. Honda Asimo Robot THE PAST In 1986, Honda engineers set out to create a walking robot. Early models (E1, E2, E3) focused on developing legs that could simulate the walk of a human. The next series of models (E4, E5, E6) were focused on walk stabilization and stair climbing. Next, a head, body and arms were added to the robot to improve balance and add functionality. Honda’s first humanoid robot, P1 was rather rugged at 6’ 2” tall, and 386 lbs. P2 improved with a more friendly design, improved walking, stair climbing/descending, and wireless automatic movements. The P3 model was even more compact, standing 5’ 2” tall and weighing 287 lbs. THE PRESENT ASIMO is the culmination of two decades of humanoid robotics research by Honda engineers. ASIMO can run, walk on uneven slopes and surfaces, turn smoothly, climb stairs, and reach for and grasp objects. ASIMO can also comprehend and respond to simple voice commands. ASIMO has the ability to recognize the face of a select group of individuals. 3

Using its camera eyes, ASIMO can map its environment and register stationary objects. ASIMO can also avoid moving obstacles as it moves through its environment.

THE FUTURE As development continues on ASIMO, today Honda demonstrates ASIMO around the world to encourage and inspire young students to study the sciences. And in the future, ASIMO may serve as another set of eyes, ears, hands and legs for all kinds of people in need. Someday ASIMO might help with important tasks like assisting the elderly or a person confined to a bed or a wheelchair. ASIMO might also perform certain tasks that are dangerous to humans, such as fighting fires or cleaning up toxic spills.

3. Paul-drawing Robot

Paul is a creation by artist/scientist Patrick Tresset. Paul is essentially a cybernetic face sketcher that works by scanning the subjects face and working off light and shade to then sketch the portrait. Watch Paul in action here.

4. Boston Dynamics Robot- Wild Cat The Cheetah robot is the fastest legged robot in the World, surpassing 29 mph, a new land speed record for legged robots. The previous record was 13.1 mph, set in 1989 at MIT. The Cheetah robot has an articulated back that flexes back and forth on each step, increasing its stride and running speed, much like the animal does. The current version of the Cheetah robot runs on a high-speed treadmill in the laboratory where it is powered by an off-board hydraulic pump and uses a boom-like device to keep it running in the center of the treadmill. The next generation Cheetah robot, WildCat, is designed to operate untethered. WildCAT recently entered initial testing and is scheduled for outdoor field testing later in 2013.

5. Actroid Robot Actroid is a type of android (humanoid robot) with strong visual human-likeness developed by Osaka University and manufactured by Kokoro Company Ltd. (the animatronics division of Sanrio). It was first unveiled at the 2003 International Robot Exhibition in Tokyo, Japan. Several different versions of the product have been produced since then. In most cases, the robot's appearance has been modeled after an average young woman of Japanese descent.

6. Nasa’s curiosity rover Robot About Who's got six wheels, a laser and is now on the Red Planet? Me. I'm Curiosity, aka the Mars Science Laboratory rover. Mission This mission will use the biggest rover ever sent Mars to explore an intriguing region of the Red Planet. The rolling laboratory will search for two things: 1. Environments where life might have existed 2. The capacity of those environments to preserve evidence of past life. Company Overview Mars Science Laboratory is part of NASA's Mars Exploration Program, a long-term effort of robotic exploration of the Red Planet. We invite you to post comments on our page. 25 Futuristic 3D Robot Designs by Franz Steiner - Relationship with Human

3D Robot Design The future is not written yet and who knows whether robots are dangerous or not. What is for sure is that humans, being the curious beings, will develop new advanced generations of robots. It happens so that people and robots go together in this life side by side, in some spheres of life they are even interchangeable and who knows into what this opposition “Human and Robots” will translate. Robots and humans that live and prosper together…Or robots will realize they don’t need that much. These images are one of a series about the life of a personal robot. The time is not the near future where personal robots are sold to do erveryday business or switch into a romantic mode to entertain women. The 3D part was done in 3ds Max and composed in Photoshop.
