Context I am a designer concerned with print based solutions in the fields of branding and publishing design created primarily for the fashion and culture sectors, using a mix of both type and image. I also have a strong interest in copywriting and the importance of communicating successfully through both language and design.
Brief or Tasks The brief is to create issue 1 of what would be a quarterly publication entitled Face Int’d Mud. The publication is a photo journal documenting a visit around a Yorkshire town, village or Hamlet, with images seeking to capture the heart of the place, as well as points of interest and amusement. Issue 1 will document a visit to Penistone, England’s highest market town. Preparation/Research suggestions Research into photo journalism and publications that feature documentary photography. Publishers such as Café Royal Books should be researched into, and places that stock publications with a similar target audience should be visited to gain a better understanding of what usually features in photo journals.
